Strengths can be defined in multiple ways. One definition of strength is, “the quality or state of being strong; bodily or muscular power; vigor” (dictionary.com). Strength can also be defined as the mental power, force, moral power or courage of an individual. Both of these definition describe strengths as being something positive, almost like a driving force. In the healthcare field it is important to know your personal strengths just as it is to know your weaknesses. As healthcare providers we have to know what we are good at so that way when caring for patients we can do it with a sense of confidence. Knowing your own strengths is also important in the leadership world of healthcare. Every good leader knows what their advantage is when taking charge of their unit or facility. Using the strength finder 2.0 I was able to identify my strengths as, communication, self-assurance, focus, command, and futuristic.

My strength of communication means that I find it easy to put my thoughts into words (Rath, 2007). With my strong communication skills I am able to bring my thoughts and ideas to life. useful when I am working in a group because it allows me to bring the group together. Through strong communication I am able to motivate others to express their thoughts and ideas. In group events I would consider myself as the facilitator. Self-assurance can be defined as having confidence in your own abilities and judgments. Through self-assurance I am able to make decisions that others may be hesitant to make. Possessing this strength also allows me to be a leader that others can have trust in. Just because a person possesses self-assurance does not mean that they are selfish, or overly confident in them-selves. With self-assurance it is also important to gather input from other team members in order to make well informed decisions (Rath, 2007). Having this strength is valuable when working in groups because it allows me to be confident in the work that I put into the group. Having self-assurance is important because I can provide confidence for those in the group who may not be so certain of their own actions. Focus is a strength of mine which means I am able to prioritize and then take action. According the Strength Finder 2.0 I am able to set goals that will help keep me on track on what-ever the task maybe (Rath, 2007). Focus is a great strength when working in a group because it allows me to help others within the group. Working in groups’ people tend to lose track of what is going on. Working in online groups makes it even more difficult because it is hard for everyone to communicate at the same time. My strength of focus allows me to help everyone stay on track with whatever the task maybe. Another important strength that I was able to identify through Strength Finder 2.0 was command.
With this strength it means that I am able to identify what needs to be done and I can freely speak up about it (Rath, 2007). While others may avoid confrontation, I am willing to initiate it because it is the first step toward resolution (Rath, 2007). Command is a good strength to have because others are drawn to you and want someone who is willing to lead. Being a leader is important especially in group situations. Every productive group should have one person who is willing to step up. In group situations I am able to bring other people out of their comfort zone, and fully
participate. Futuristic is a strength that means I am able to look ahead of what needs to be done (Rath, 2007). Being futuristic means that I am able to anticipate what could be and what should be (Rath, 2007). Possessing this strength means that I often see the future positively. This strength allows me to stay motivated in achieving my goals. When working in groups I would consider my-self as a good motivator. The fact that I am able to picture what the outcome of a group project should be, means that I can motivate others. The five strengths that I just mentioned are all a big part of my life. I believe that the life experiences that I have gone through have helped shape all five of my strengths. Reflection on Strengths My parents and I escaped the war in Bosnia and Hercegovina and came to the United States of America in 1995.
Identifying and understanding your own personal strengths is key to being a successful leader. Knowing your strengths means you can focus your efforts to maximize results, in yourself and in others. Strengths Finder 2.0 is designed to uncover your strengths and utilize these strengths to your advantage (Rath, 2007). Identifying and applying these strengths to your leadership style, will enhance your effectiveness as a transformational leader.
After completing the Clifton strength finders test, I learned my dominant strengths and it gave me a sense on what areas I am strong in. It allows you to work in the areas that you are good in and not in the ones you might not be as strong in. My top five strengths were learner, connectedness, belief, positivity, and includer. A lot of these I figured I would have because I am an athlete and I love to be positive. That is good because I practice these strengths every day which in turn will make me better at them and will allow me to use them in my career.
Strengths refer to what the company or product are better and/or particularly better than its competitors. It is a factor that happens internally and currently to the organisation, giving the company advantage in the market that it operates in.
These strengths and weaknesses were mainly discovered through the papers that we have written. I have many strengths when I’m writing papers and at the same time, I have many weaknesses. In my papers, I have noticed that one of my biggest strengths is how articulate I am. The papers that have been written by myself show that I structured sentences to present ideas in different ways. It is not straightforward and boring when ideas are presented. I like to keep the reader hooked on my paper. In order to keep up with this strength, I like to read articles. The articles I read are typically the ones that present new ideas or start arguments. This is one of my strengths that I am very proud
My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks. I do not always expect to have a smooth flow of opportunities or accomplish goals, but
For me to be an effective leader, I must first evaluate my strengths. I took the Gallup 2.0 Strength Finder report which showed my strengths in an insight and action planning guide. The results indicated the top five themes for me were input, learner, responsibility, maximizer and arranger. I believe the evaluation offered an accurate assessment of my strengths. The input theme states my mind is like a sponge, soaking up information. As a lifelong learner, the second theme is also, correct. I have a quest for knowledge about things that interest me. I am responsible, in my job and life. As a maximizer, I focus on long term goals and strive toward excellence. As a nurse, working in an environment of change, the arranger strength in my personality allows me to adapt easily and figure out the best way to accomplish tasks (Strengths, 2012).
My top strength is Individualization. To me, this strength means the ability to figure people out and understand the true uniqueness of others. With this strength, I am able to make things run smoothly and, at the same time, able to involve everyone in a group. The next strength I have is strategic, which enables me to find alternative ways to deal with problems. Therefore, I am also able to make things run smoothly and according to plan. In addition to these two strengths, my third strength is competitive which measures how successful I am compared against others. This is great because it helps me to endure and work hard in order to make it to the top. My fourth strength is restorative which is a talent that helps me to deal with any problems that may arise and ensure that things continue going according to plan. This strength means that I can endure and overcome any adversity that comes my way. My last strength is achiever. This is a strength that helps me to work hard and always be productive. Being an achiever maintains my ability to always keep going and to constantly feel the need to be productive.
Another strength that I have is being an active listener. I listened to my clients and utilized a lot of micro skills. Insuring confidentiality was also a strength that I developed closer to the end of field placement. Conducting assessments and making sure I tracked and exhausted the topics was also a strength that I identified throughout field. Practicing from a strengths perspective was also another area I excelled at when working with my clients. A skill that I could work on is being more conscious of self in terms of body language during interviews, because at times I find myself with my arms cross which may give an indication that I’m closed off or
Communication is something we all humans use. Communication “is the sharing of information between individuals by using speech”. People have ways of communicating some have their weaknesses in conversations and others have their strengths. When I communicate with others I feel that some things I say I do not verbalize right. I have two strengths and three weaknesses in my communicating. My three weakens in my communication are, check nonverbal feedback, to make people wrong and recognize that people understand information in different ways and my two strengths in my communication are being flexible, and take responsibility for the communication.
Being able to know individual strengths and weaknesses is so crucial in our lives other than our careers. It is not only the positivity 's that matters, the negativities are very crucial too because they make us work harder to improving and getting better in what we do by helping us to achieve our goals after going through all those experiences. I have rated myself as a nurse by using the nurse manager inventory tool and saw a lot of competences on my experiences/skills. I also rated my strength and weaknesses. "According to Merriam-Webster 's collegiate(R) dictionary, Strength is defined as the quality or state of being strong" (Strength. 2012). "Weaknesses is defined as lack of strength" (Weakness. 1997). "Self-Understanding helps individual in his or her recognition of weaknesses assisting the person to overcoming any shortcomings in the nursing field" (Carson, 2005). To be a good leader, you must be empowered with the Knowledge on strengths and weaknesses. "Personal accountability hold us responsible for the work that we do followed by the quality of their actions by others (Basset, 2005). With this paper, I will be able to write after rating myself on strengths and weaknesses in connection to personal and professional accountability, career planning, personal journey discipline, and reflective practice reference /tenets. Again, I am going to discuss on how to use current leadership skill to advocate for change at workplace. Finally, I am going to recognize and implementation plan on achieving personal goal on leadership growth.
Our personalities are what distinguish us from each other beyond our appearance; without them, we would all behave and react in the same way. Personality is the reason we are outgoing or introverted, persistent or blaze, and anxious or calm. We each have different levels of these competing characteristics that make us unique. But why are personalities so varied? Personality is determined by an array of factors from genetic and biological to the personal experiences and decisions we have faced from the day we are born. The complexity of our personalities cannot be simply explained, and for this reason there exists many different theories of how it’s developed and personality is still deeply under study. I went into this subject with an open-mind
Personal Effectiveness is using all of our potential resources in order to achieve both work and life goals. It is when we use all our personal resources at our disposal-talent, skills, time in order to get what we want in life. In everyday life we put so much effort to get what we want to achieve in life. We spend a large amount of our time and energy. In this world many people are working towards achieving the same goal with different costs. This is because everyone has different personal effectiveness.
Everyone has their own definition of a strong person. A strong person to me is a person that can overcome the adversities in life positively. My friend Ivery, my dad, and my sister can be boldly described as a strong person in so many ways. In order to be characterized as a strong person you have to be stable-minded, courageous, and honest. Every strong person has their own character traits but there are some that stand out more than others. Some people may define people strong by their physical strengths. Others might say you are strong because you didn’t cry when you should have cried. Defining a strong person is based off of your perception of something. There are three people that demonstrate strong qualities as an individual.
The word strength brings many thoughts to mind such as: power, muscle, durable, advantage and potency to name a few. All of these words give a positive connotation to strength because strength is, generally, speaking a very useful tool. Before taking the strength finder test I would most likely associate the word strength with physical capabilities. However, through this Strength Finder course I have found a new and much more empowering perspective of this word strength. My strengths according to this assessment are: Futuristic, Belief, Communication, Activator and WOO. All of these strengths are natural talents I personally posses yet if I never work on them and improve them they will be nothing more than a natural talent instead of empowering
