Millions use StrengthsFinder for its unique capacity in charting any individual’s top five talents. The ability to uncover one’s particular set of talents is a discovery that can lead to further development and wisdom in one’s life. My top strength is Individualization. To me, this strength means the ability to figure people out and understand the true uniqueness of others. With this strength, I am able to make things run smoothly and, at the same time, able to involve everyone in a group. The next strength I have is strategic, which enables me to find alternative ways to deal with problems. Therefore, I am also able to make things run smoothly and according to plan. In addition to these two strengths, my third strength is competitive which measures how successful I am compared against others. This is great because it helps me to endure and work hard in order to make it to the top. My fourth strength is restorative which is a talent that helps me to deal with any problems that may arise and ensure that things continue going according to plan. This strength means that I can endure and overcome any adversity that comes my way. My last strength is achiever. This is a strength that helps me to work hard and always be productive. Being an achiever maintains my ability to always keep going and to constantly feel the need to be productive. My top five strengths are both great and damaging to myself. My talent for achieving and competiveness guarantees that I am never satisfied and constantly needing to rise to the top. While these are great strengths to have, it qualifies that I never able to truly rest or feel the satisfaction of a work well done because I am already moving to the next hurdle. Knowing someone else’s strengths can help to understand what leads their decisions and how they might react to a situation. Being able to pair up people within a team using these strengths as a guide is ingenious. For example, if someone has an affinity for empathy, then that person is great at understanding other’s emotional states and should be paired up with someone with a command or activator theme. Having a person with a command or activator theme paired up with someone with the talent of empathy helps the person with empathy take necessary action against others despite an overwhelming emotional compassion. Being able understand and match up the necessary individuals according to activating themes is something that is invaluable in leadership.
