A1. Working Style I have an unusual working style, I’m an explore and excite kind of girl. My individuality is key to my success. I need to be allowed to work in my own way. Traditional methods of working are often limiting to my creative mind. I function best in and open-ended, semi-chaotic environment. I thrive in change and enjoy action-oriented settings. I am inspired by people working together, thinking outside of the box and making connections between ideas. My flexibility is certainly one of my greatest strengths. I can easily move between different working styles, depending on the scenario. I have no problem trying a new idea or concept out before deciding on a final direction. I am continually exploring different options. Being a “people-person” is one of my other strengths. My excellent interpersonal skills allow for me to bring ideas, thoughts and people together. I generate enthusiasm and excitement into tasks. I feel comfortable and confident talking to others about anything that I have knowledge of. I am forever late. The ultimate procrastinator. This is by far my biggest challenge. It isn’t that I can’t get things done in a timely manner, they just never seem to work out that way. I am great at getting the research done, the outline complete and draft started. However, I easily get side tracked into …show more content…
I have learned that I am not the amazing communicator I once thought I was. I have many skills to practice and develop to become an effective communicator. Discovering my working style has allowed me to look more closely at my roles in various groups at work and understand why these groups don’t always work. I was also able to take away a better understanding for my learning styles and how to embrace them instead of trying to conform to a more traditional way of learning. These skills will aid me in my quest to be the first person in my family to earn a Bachelor’s degree. I can, and I will
Just as they are standing face-to-face with each other, I am standing face-to-face with procrastination. I encounter difficulty managing my time with just about everything I do; I always wait too long. Throughout high school I was never in a hurry to get any of my work done. The work was easy to me, so if I waited until the last minute to do anything, it wasn’t hard for me to finish. I could always take my time to get everything done and still get a good grade in high school. Even if the work was harder and took me a little extra time, my teachers were all very lenient and accepted late work. My high school was very easy and allowed me to get into the bad habit of procrastinating.
Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is very hard to stop procrastinating everything once you have gotten into the habit of doing it. Once I had a term paper due for my religion class. It was to be ten pages long and we were told to spend a lot of time doing it. Being the procrastinator that I am, I waited to the very last minute to do it. I waited until the night before to do most of it. Needless to say, I was up very late that night. In this class there was always a part of the paper due on a certain date before the final paper was due. Having things due before the final paper is due keeps me on task and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your final result will be.
These strengths and weaknesses were mainly discovered through the papers that we have written. I have many strengths when I’m writing papers and at the same time, I have many weaknesses. In my papers, I have noticed that one of my biggest strengths is how articulate I am. The papers that have been written by myself show that I structured sentences to present ideas in different ways. It is not straightforward and boring when ideas are presented. I like to keep the reader hooked on my paper. In order to keep up with this strength, I like to read articles. The articles I read are typically the ones that present new ideas or start arguments. This is one of my strengths that I am very proud
I am a procrastinator and I have been ever since I was a child, which I am sure many others have been as well. As a child, I would put off my work mainly because I did not want to do and wanted to occupy myself with something else, rather than to sit there and actually do the work. When this happened, of course, the work would either be done in the morning, at night, or it would not be done at all. In his article, “The 5 Most Common Reasons We Procrastinate,” written for Psychology Today, Shahram Heshmat (2016), “The lack of imposed direction that’s become common in the workplace might contribute to the increase in procrastination” (para. 4). This is something that was more prevalent in my freshmen year of high
My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks. I do not always expect to have a smooth flow of opportunities or accomplish goals, but
Another strength that I have is being an active listener. I listened to my clients and utilized a lot of micro skills. Insuring confidentiality was also a strength that I developed closer to the end of field placement. Conducting assessments and making sure I tracked and exhausted the topics was also a strength that I identified throughout field. Practicing from a strengths perspective was also another area I excelled at when working with my clients. A skill that I could work on is being more conscious of self in terms of body language during interviews, because at times I find myself with my arms cross which may give an indication that I’m closed off or
One of my greatest skills is being able to be compassionate towards others. By placing myself into someone else’s shoes, I find myself being able to better understand where other people are coming from. I am an extremely caring person that will go to great lengths for anyone. I can easily overlook the differences in other people, and this is what helps me get along with almost anyone that I come across. In order to lead people in a positive direction you need to be able to relate to them on a more personal level. It is much easier when people feel comfortable around their leader. I always like to lend a helping hand or even a shoulder to cry on when it is needed. My strengths include integrity, optimism, faith, innovation, and adaptability. These strengths are important to have in leadership positions. Leaders should have a firm hold on their beliefs and morals in order to have a positive impact on people. Keeping my commitments is crucial to me, because I am a woman of my word. I think this is a good trait in leadership, because people need to be able to count on the person that they look up to. Optimism is also something I value. I belie...
The computer is on, the coffee maker. is cooking, and I am under a lot of stress. "There isn't a lot of time left," I said. keep telling myself as I look at the blank piece of paper in front of me. " I know I can do it," I keep encouraging myself while my mind generates zero ideas for my essay which is due six hours from now. & nbsp; Everyone I know procrastinates, my friends, relatives, even people in government.
There are many obstacles that I may encounter that are both internal and external. Procrastination is hard for me, mainly because I have a bad habit of waiting to do an assignment closer
When going by the procrastinator styles listed in the text, I am a "Perfectionist-Dreamer-Crisis-Maker". I always want to do the best I can, which often leads to me not getting things done at all, due to feeling like I would disappoint myself and others with a poor or even just average job. Some strategies that might help me would be; setting lower goals, trying not to overthink things, and realizing I don't have to try to be perfect. In a smaller amount, I demonstrate aspects of the "Dreamer" type, e.g. not feeling like I can do something if it appears hard at all, and having ideas in my mind I can never transpose into reality. Even though I listed it last, I definitely am a "Crisis-Maker". I usually don't do things until the last minute,
Procrastination can be a major problem in both your career and your personal life because procrastination is the thief of time. When you keep putting off things, they keep piling up and getting in your way of achieving other things. Then you have missed opportunities, frenzied work hours, feel stressed, guilt and resentment; you find you are being overwhelmed easily because there is just so much to do.
My strongest skills are interpersonal skills which include many skills such as relating well with others, assisting others, resolving conflicts, being a team player. I always get on well with everyone I meet because I am easy-going and sociable. I never want to involve in a tussle with anyone and I treat people with respect. I like to make new friends and people also want to make friend with me. I also have a good sense of humor so people really like to talk to me because I can make them laugh a lot. I am always willing to give people a hand whenever they need me. Helping others has always been one of my hobbies. Every time I do something

One of my greatest strengths at work that I have recognized would have to be my ability to be a well-organized individual. I tend to write what I have to do down on paper and prioritize what is more important to least important. In doing this, it helps me organize and accomplish my work and meet deadlines that are important. A personal strength that I have at home is patience. I am a mother of a beautiful three year old little girl who is a handful. Patience is my greatest strength as a parent and individual which I possess especially being a single mother. I am a dedicated and hard working mother and I always make sure that my daughter gets the love and attention she needs.
