I completed the run… subsequently, that smile turned to concern as our Chief laid face down 200m away. Frantically, I sprinted, he was unresponsive, and already exhausted I performed CPR; EMS arrived and he was defibrillated, revived, and was responsive. As a physician assistant in the Army my only job is to provide medical care to soldiers. The impetus for pursuing a career as a physician came through family tragedy. My grandmother died of an abdominal hemorrhage after she was started on two blood thinners. It was then; I determined that medicine was ultimately the career for me, armed with an idea of helping other families avoid preventable tragedies. In pursuit of my goal, I enrolled in Barry University; subsequently halfway through college
