According to the study of this course, I have learned many useful management skills and I feel like these skills will be applied to my future career development. When working on the self- assessment tests, I found myself fall into the category of the ISTJ personality types, which as illustrated by Myers Briggs, is the type of personality that is conscientious, considerate, and helpful. Personality traits such as honest, dutiful, practical and responsible are my strengths; personality traits such as stubborn, insensitive and poor communication skill are my weaknesses. Related to the knowledge I have learned in the course I believe both strengths and weakness will have influence to my future career development. I believe I have the capacity to maintain work stress and stay positive. It is because I am a positive thinker. From my experience, when I was perceiving inequity or facing stresses from work, I tried to restore equity by extra effort and stay focused on my goal. Therefore, these personality traits help me become a team player. Besides, I have high ethical standards which drives me to embody integrity in my actions. Honesty, integrity are very important personality traits to managers because they have responsibility of financial stewardship. Managers who has high ethical standards are likely to establish a code of ethic to guide team members’ behavior and less likely to manipulate shareholders’ assets. Individuals’ action are value drive, if I am a manager, I value company’s benefit over personal interest and I believe my ethical behaviors helps me to better manage others by building a trustful relationship with my team
For this project; I will be discussing the findings of my personality type. According to “Jung’s Personality Test”, I am an ENTJ. Various sources point to this type as;” The Executive.” The research I have done has brought tremendous insight into; who I am as a person, the functions of my thinking process and how to utilize my strengths to be more of an efficient/successful person. I also learned about the various careers the best suit my personality type which; helps me when It comes to job seeking after graduation. It is very important to know yourself and see how you can maximize on your God given potential. For that reason, I am very glad I took the personality test and studied this subject manner. I would advise everybody to do the same,
The bases of this paper will be based on the results that I had obtained when I took the Myers-Briggs personality test. The results that I had obtained was that I was determined to be an ENFJ. I will go into depth about letter and how each represents that a specific aspect of my personality. The results that I had received were not what I had expected, but the more I read about the trait the more I realized how it suited me. I will also talk about the information that I had found useful from the book, Type Talk at Work: How the 16 Personalities Types Determine Your Success on the Job by Otto Kroeger, which gave me insight on how to interact with other personality types especially in the work environment. The information that I absorbed from the personality test and from the book will go into use in my personal and work life so that both environments will be cohesive and peaceful.
To prepare for this paper, I took personality and academic tests. I listened to lectures, and researched papers. The purpose of this paper is to get to know myself and familiarize myself with the jobs that suit me. “There are no good or bad personalities. There are positive and negative traits of each personality. Positive traits carried to the extreme become negative traits.” (McConnell)
However, in reflection of my past teamwork experiences in class, I am often one of the organizers and stronger voices, connecting me with being a natural leader. In reflection of past job experience, I found it related to a low tolerance for incompetency and also being a natural leader, but did not demonstrate being a visionary or argumentative. My past job experience includes refereeing youth soccer matches and serving at Anthony’s Beach Café. My experience refereeing youth soccer matches forced me to become a leader, taking control of parents and the players, allowing me to mature well being in a position of authority. Well working as a server at Anthony’s I have developed very high expectations for myself, displaying my low tolerance for mistakes and increasing my productivity. My ENTJ personality directly connects with various management careers, which is a long-term career goal for me. I have known from an early age that I’ve wanted to become a doctor. Helping people has always been a passion of mine. When I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian. However, after working with young children I have found that I love working with them, and have a connection with children. Currently, I am interested in becoming either a neonatologist or a general pediatrician so I can continue to work with young children.
My ultimate value is my family. My vision for my own self is to live happily with my family in the future. I love to spend my spare time with them. Hanging around with friends and family make me feel well. I love to play on computer. I also love to play with the magical numbers. I like surfing on the internet, exploring new things, reading articles related with health, life, and economic events such as the stock market, financial companies, investment corporations, etc. I think being a citizen of a country, we should somewhat at different aspects of life to better know how well or bad the economy of our country is experiencing. My goal is to become a businessperson. I believe doing business is an important way to improve the economy of a nation. I did a research on two different careers. However, they are sort of having a relation with each other. Both of them are in the business field – accounting and financial analyzing.
The general personality traits, which are related to success both in and outside the workplace, are all inherent in my answers given in the Leadership Assessment Quiz. With statements such as, “it is easy for me to compliment others” and “team members listen to me when I speak,” it is apparent I possess these characteristics. Whereas my task- related personality traits associated with successful leadership, such as courage, still need to be developed. Not only do I know this in myself, but it is clearly pointed out throughout the test, with statements such as, “resolving conflict is an activity I enjoy” and “I would enjoy coaching other members of the team”.
Managers seem to inherit a strong trust in the authority of personality traits to forecast behavior at the work area. If managers thought that situations resolute behavior, they would hire individuals almost at random and assemble the situation correctly. But the employee selection procedure in most establishments places a great deal of importance on how applicants achieve in interviews and on examine through which the personality of a person can be achieved and the task distribution can be much easy varying upon the type of personality (Robbins, Odendaal and Roodt, 2001)
There are some managers that can be very easy to get along with, with great people skills, and there are managers who are hard to get along with. These particular managers can make employees feel uncomfortable and hard to communicate with. When it comes to individual personalities, it can be looked at as five traits or characteristics: extraversion, negative affectivity, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience. These are often considered to be the Big Five personality traits. Each of these traits can be considered as perpetuity to each individual. A more uncomplicated way to grasp how these traits can affect a person’s approach to management is to characterize what people are like at the high and low ends of each traits perpetuity. No trait is right or wrong in becoming an effective manager.
Through the self-assessment instruments utilized in this program, I have gained wealth of knowledge about my strengths, and weaknesses and how they affect my personal and professional life. By using different exercises, I recognized new strengths and weaknesses. At the same time, I identified ways to develop my strengths and overcome my weaknesses. The Kolb Learning Style Inventory (LSI) identified some of my strengths as the ability to get things done, initiating, and taking risks (Kolb, 2007). In the Strongest Self Feedback Exercise, some of the feedback listed my strengths as having excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being self-confident, a fast learner, determined, hardworking, and an awesome listener (Drucker, 2005).

As I reflect and look at my career journey, I realize that I have not really had a career journey. I have held a few jobs; however, I have not had a job I would consider my career yet. Furthermore, I only worked for a couple of months in each of the jobs I had in the past. Currently, I do not have a job yet, and I realize that I am now 24 years of age and should be starting my way to my career. However, I have not looked into jobs in my career field because I feel as though I am not ready yet to start working in my field.

I am an ISTJ with unique personality strengths and weaknesses. My strengthens are being hardworking, productive, efficient, and driven (Kroeger, Thuesen, & Rutledge, 2002, p. 306). In opposition, being compulsive, inexpressive, and driven by routines are my weaknesses (Kroeger et al, 2002, pp. 308-309).
