Throughout the beginning of this semester I have looked at how individuals behave within business organizations. Through various exercises and results, I have found a number of patterns within my behavior and interests. I have become aware what interests me, and a number of skills/abilities I was oblivious I had. This reflection and in class exercises has allowed me to expand my skills, abilities, and behaviors, well fitting them into prospective future employment. The single most helpful and insightful exercise we have done throughout this course has been the Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI). However, in reflection of my past teamwork experiences in class, I am often one of the organizers and stronger voices, connecting me with being a natural leader. In reflection of past job experience, I found it related to a low tolerance for incompetency and also being a natural leader, but did not demonstrate being a visionary or argumentative. My past job experience includes refereeing youth soccer matches and serving at Anthony’s Beach Café. My experience refereeing youth soccer matches forced me to become a leader, taking control of parents and the players, allowing me to mature well being in a position of authority. Well working as a server at Anthony’s I have developed very high expectations for myself, displaying my low tolerance for mistakes and increasing my productivity. My ENTJ personality directly connects with various management careers, which is a long-term career goal for me. I found that much of my free time is spent socializing with friends and competing in numerous sports and hobbies. I found that much of my daily life revolves around competition, from playing collegian level soccer to video games with friends. Competition has always interested me from a very young age when I first begin playing soccer. However, I found there is a distinction between healthy competition and unhealthy competition within my own interests. Healthy competition was doing my best in order to advance and develop a skill or process. Conversely, Unhealthy competition was a sole focus on winning and a trap I have fallen into many times. In the work world today healthy competition can be a monumental tool used to engage and motivate employees. In class we have talked about a company called Nucor that has used competition within shifts to advance technology through innovation and increasing production. I believe my interest in competition and my competitive drive when instrumented in the right environment could be a huge motivator in the future
The Myers-Briggs profile was based on the test developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers (“The History of the MTBI assessment”, 2017). Many different models exist to determine your personality type using answers from a series of questions or selecting between two opposing options. The MBTI assessments relate to Jung's theory of personality development because the purpose of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is to make the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung, (1921/1971)”Understandable and useful in people's lives. The core of the theory is that much apparently random disparity in behavior is actually quite orderly and dependable, being due to basic differences in the way individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment.” (CAPT, 2014) This information will enable me to be successful as a counselor because I can incorporate the MBTI assessment as a part of my observations from a client to better understand my clients. ENTJ, is known as “The Field Marshal” or “The Executive.” Sources say my personality type has the potential to make great CEO’s or politicians. According to my research; ENTJ’s are known to have excellent speaking skills: which can assist in making public addresses or explaining new business models to a board of directors from a power point. ENTJ’s are also known to hold very high standards and expect the same from their peers/ employees; which makes them excellent managers. The Myers and Briggs Analysis is a series of questions that when answered are examined and grouped together in order to determine the personalities of those taking this test. This particular test can result in sixteen different outcomes or types of personalities, which is determined by four different categories that judge if you are introverted or extroverted, use your senses or your intuition, your choice to think or use your feelings, and finally if you are judgmental or perceptive. These series of questions are designed to judge our personalities and help us to determine which career pathways we will be most suited for based on our personality traits and abilities to work well with others, which is important for our future decisions.
The bases of this paper will be based on the results that I had obtained when I took the Myers-Briggs personality test. The results that I had obtained was that I was determined to be an ENFJ. I will go into depth about letter and how each represents that a specific aspect of my personality. The results that I had received were not what I had expected, but the more I read about the trait the more I realized how it suited me. I will also talk about the information that I had found useful from the book, Type Talk at Work: How the 16 Personalities Types Determine Your Success on the Job by Otto Kroeger, which gave me insight on how to interact with other personality types especially in the work environment. The information that I absorbed from the personality test and from the book will go into use in my personal and work life so that both environments will be cohesive and peaceful.
The first trait that displays a great connection to my strengths is enthusiasm. I believe that the trait of enthusiasm is when a person displays excitement and positivity toward their task. Scott Lilienfeld mentions that the most well-known public and political leaders have an enthusiasm trait. He also mentions that successful political leaders show this trait because they are the face of politics and without their positive and excitement towards their task, they wouldn’t not become great leaders that thousands of people follow (Lilienfeld, 2012). I believe this relates well to my strengths such as being futuristic and focusing because political leaders don’t only focus on the present, they focus on the future. In order to focus on the future, you must have these strengths that I have been given via the assessment. In another study by Moursa Khaireddin, he talks about leadership and leadership style in branch manages of banks at the Hashemite Kingdom in Jordan. Most of the traits in this article focus on the fear of being a great leader but he mentions a positive trait dominance. He describes the required skill in branch managers by saying that many mangers fail because fail to keep dominating (competition) as the number one focus (Khaireddin, 2015). For me to be an effective leader, I must first evaluate my strengths. I took the Gallup 2.0 Strength Finder report which showed my strengths in an insight and action planning guide. The results indicated the top five themes for me were input, learner, responsibility, maximizer and arranger. I believe the evaluation offered an accurate assessment of my strengths. The input theme states my mind is like a sponge, soaking up information. As a lifelong learner, the second theme is also, correct. I have a quest for knowledge about things that interest me. I am responsible, in my job and life. As a maximizer, I focus on long term goals and strive toward excellence. As a nurse, working in an environment of change, the arranger strength in my personality allows me to adapt easily and figure out the best way to accomplish tasks (Strengths, 2012).

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) has recognized my profile as Introvert, Intuitive, Thinking and Judgment (INTJ). As an introvert, I can get nervous among other people. It does not pose a problem for an individual. On the other hand, in order to be an effective leader, it is important for me to keep a profound communicational relationship with my subordinates. Without proper communication skills, it is not possible to establish a functional relationship with my subordinates. This may jeopardize the success of any activity that we are involved in. The introvert part is perhaps the major barrier which may keep me away from being an effective leader.
The general personality traits, which are related to success both in and outside the workplace, are all inherent in my answers given in the Leadership Assessment Quiz. With statements such as, “it is easy for me to compliment others” and “team members listen to me when I speak,” it is apparent I possess these characteristics. Whereas my task- related personality traits associated with successful leadership, such as courage, still need to be developed. Not only do I know this in myself, but it is clearly pointed out throughout the test, with statements such as, “resolving conflict is an activity I enjoy” and “I would enjoy coaching other members of the team”.
My personality is hard to describe. It all can depend on the situation, but overall my core values stay the same. In this paper I will describe my personal analysis, which will include a self-assessment score of maximizer and satisficer, time management profile, and empowering others. I will also describe what my terminal values and instrumental values are. Then I will go through what my big five personality characteristics are and my MBTI personality profile. I will then describe my job posting assessment and, finally, my personal job fit analysis. Hopefully, by the end of this I will be able to recognize my strengths, weaknesses and values and have the ability to match my values to the type of values job postings are looking for.

I fall into a unique, more introverted and innovative personality type. Generally speaking, leaders are often expected to be extroverts. That seems to be the societal ideal. According to the study of this course, I have learned many useful management skills and I feel like these skills will be applied to my future career development. When working on the self- assessment tests, I found myself fall into the category of the ISTJ personality types, which as illustrated by Myers Briggs, is the type of personality that is conscientious, considerate, and helpful. Personality traits such as honest, dutiful, practical and responsible are my strengths; personality traits such as stubborn, insensitive and poor communication skill are my weaknesses. Related to the knowledge I have learned in the course I believe both strengths and weakness will have influence to my future career development. In this reflection paper, I will demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses that may place the most influence on my way of success.
