Essay Question: Include an image of a place that is significant to you. Share its story with us. Standing on the deck of the ship in Baltimore Harbor, I looked out to clouds of smog and dirty brown waters. Trash surrounded the boat and the docks looked more than desolate but battered and decaying. Within four or five hours of travel, the shades of brown receded, being replaced by an endless horizon of deep blue meeting an equivalent blue sky. Crystalline turquoise waters, generous affable people, and gorgeous, glistening pink sand are the images that come to mind when I think of first setting eyes on Bermuda. I had never been outside of the United States and visiting Bermuda opened up my world to the glory of travel and what it can do for the mind body and soul. …show more content…
Despite being only miles from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, for me and everyone around me, these cities could have been a world away. I live in a community where everyone knows one another and rarely leave. But my eyes were first opened to the possibility of another kind of life when I began traveling out of the state on college tours, north, south and west of my home. Yet it was Bermuda that truly opened up the world to me, giving me a thirst for travel , a sense of curiosity and the need to see the world. It was not just the place but the journey itself that was so amazing. In the three days on ship I met people from several cultures and was exposed to life in another
The Bahamas is an island in the North Atlantic Ocean maybe one day, you can experience how beautiful it is.
When I stepped out of the hot, airless plane into the bright, dazzling sunlight beaming down across the burning concreate, I felt excited and nervous. Holding my beach bag in my hand and slipping my Ray Ban sunglasses on with my other, I flip-flopped down the airspace. Overhead I heard the screams of gulls and the chatter of the small fluffy birds. I suddenly realized I had arrived to Hawaii. This trip was such an unforgettable vacation for me because I got to witness the beauty of nature that Hawaii has to offer.
As I opened my eyes, I saw a giant cruise ship in front of my eyes.It took two whole days but we finally reached Florida where we went Rock Gliding. It’s where you have to get past a giant, rocky maze. The winner gets to cans of ice cream.Though my sister won,we all shared the ice cream.Next stop, the Bahamas!!!In the bahamas we went parasailing up 700 ft above water level,it was so much fun.The boat driver even let us touch the smooth, light blue water with our feet. Finally, we ended with a relaxing dolphin swim on the soft, delicate beach of Jamaica.
This past summer, my family and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. We had just docked at the second port, Nassau, and were preparing to exit the gigantic ship named the Carnival Fantasy. Once we got to the city, I noticed it was bustling with people of all different backgrounds and cultures. The roads were narrow and some even hilly. I remember coming to the conclusion that a lot of people in the Bahamas must have road rage what from the blaring car horns I could hear around every corner. My family and I were walking along the sidewalk, glancing into shops as we passed them. The weather was unbearably hot, but growing up in South Carolina allowed my family and I to push onward with our adventure. The sun burn on my back started to pulsate in pain any time the sunlight hit it, so we decided to stick to the side of the buildings that provided shade.
new people as well as see new cultures. It has always been a dream of mine to travel
Out of all the trips I have taken, Cancun was definitely the best. It was 2013 and I was in fifth grade. I had known about the trip for weeks and I was so amped up for the plane ride, for the hotel, and especially the ocean. I was in science and the teacher was getting mad because I was distracting all the kids by jittering all over the place. Finally I heard my name called over the intercom and I leaped for joy and ran out of the classroom. From school we drove to the Iowa Airport, got our tickets and loaded onto the plane. Our first plane took us to Chicago, Illinois where we boarded a plane , at the O’Hare International Airport, departing for Cancun,Mexico. The second plane was very lengthy, I tried to sleep but I didn’t actually fall asleep
The mind-blowing range of soft sandy beaches, delightful landscapes, exceptional shoreline and remarkable hospitality on Caribbean Sea, Barbados is eminent for a pleasure of beach holidays in Caribbean region and quite a favourite escape for travellers from UK and other parts of Europe. Adams, Louis. “Sense of Place.” Interview by Mrs. Thibo’s H-English 10 class. 18 May 2010.
When I came to the United States, at first, I was sad because I was leaving behind a life that I was used to, but it turned out to be one of the best steps I have taken in my journey. One of the best outcomes of coming to the country was being reunited with my mom and my grandparents. They have been living here for ten years already. That was ten long years where I would see them for two weeks per year.
My experience was amazing to say the least, all I know is I will definitely be going back to explore more
When we got to Dubrovnik we boarded the ship and went to the steerage. I never could have imagined this many people on a boat. We slept on the cold floor with
Many of us live busy and on-the-go lives. One day being more busy than the last. Have you ever had a really stressful day at work or school? The kind of day where you can just picture yourself on a breathtaking shoreline? Some of my favorite memories I’ve had, happened at the beach. When we see the word beach, we often think brownish sand and salty, dark blue ocean water. Which is incomparable to the beaches of the Bahamas! Those would be the picture perfect ones like you would see in a magazine! One place I have always wanted to visit is the Bahamas. At this astonishing place I can eat fresh seafood, explore the underwater world by snorkeling, and see the unique pink sand.
Asia was awesome! Everything, from the food I ate to the people I met, gave me a new perspective on life. I still cannot get over the fact that I have traveled to the other side of the world. This school program gave me many memorable experiences, allowed me to learn a lot about the culture of Asia, and introduced me to friends that I'll treasure for a life time. I knew that there was a reason I got to go, and while I was there I tried to make the most of such an opportunity.
My dream place would be a house on a Galapagos Island. My land will be located on the Isabella Island. It will be nice and relaxing because it has a constant weather all that time, perfect environment. Also I will have a nice 2 floor cabin. The cabins will look like the ones that you see in forest. My whole family will live there after I am 75. But before that I will spend my time gathering all the money to buy a piece of land, a plane, a boat, and some vegetable seed (lot of them). I want my dream place to be nice and relaxing where you can enjoy the environment and very peaceful weather.
I haven't started that has to be in by tomorrow. So where do I go?
