I had thought of this day for months and , now that the day had come I couldn't wait. We were going to America. We loaded our wooden trunk onto our mule and headed to the train station. My brother, my mother, and I were going to get on a train in Cak Cak Yak Yak and, it will take us to Dubrovnik. In Dubrovnik we will board the Tagus that will take us to Ellis island. When we got to the train station the train was already packed. We found a spot in the corner and got the little food we brought from our trunk. We only ate a small bit because we knew it would be a long journey. When we got to Dubrovnik we boarded the ship and went to the steerage. I never could have imagined this many people on a boat. We slept on the cold floor with …show more content…
We searched and searched for my brother but, never found him. We were taught English in Cak Cak Yak Yak so we saw in a newspaper that they had the list of the immigrants aloud in the country. We got one of the newspapers and saw our names but, not my brothers. We immediately broke down crying. He had been sent back to Cak Cak Yak Yak. We had already had an apartment ready for us to stay in. we went to the apartment and cried for almost three hours. When we finally excepted the fact that he was gone we decided we should get something to eat. We had exchanged the money we brought from our home country for dollars. After we got done eating it was around 9:30 pm so we decided to walk around New York. When we had explored the city we went back to the apartment and fell asleep at about 11:30. We weren't adjusted to America's …show more content…
This is his story. It all happened when I got the chalk mark on my shirt. After this they took me into this room on the bottom floor. What I saw in that room I will never forget. It was a room lined with beds and they were all deformed or sick. They put me in one of the beds and all I could do was lay there. Apparently I had been diagnosed with a disease they called trachoma. They told me I would probably be sent home. That night all I could think about was having to go back to Cak Cak Yak Yak and having to start over. All night I sat in bed praying that I could be cured of this disease and be let into the United States of America. Then this morning the doctors came into quarantine and flipped my eyelids up and told me I was cured and could go through the rest of the immigration process. So, I went through and had no way of finding you guys. So, I figured you guys might be walking around the city to explore. So, I decided to go to the pier first and there you were just sitting there. “That's the power of prayer.” I said. “We must celebrate.” said mom. So, we went to the grocery store and got a couple ingredients and made a pljeskavica. Pljeskavica is the national Serbian dish it consists of lamb, pork, beef, and veal. We were able to get these items to our surprise and, we loved the taste of the delicious grilled meat. After this we all sat down and talked about how we wondered if any of our
Brock awoke to the sound of a trumpet. He was ready to get training. Brock put on his long johns, pants, shirt, coat, and hat. Then he slowly walked out of his tent. When he walked out he was greeted by Major General Wayne. He said, “Follow me i'll show you where you will be training.” Brock followed him for a about a mile until they walked into a large field with hundreds of saddled horses, and about 80 other men. Major General Wayne said,
The trip to Canada was about two days long by car. On the way there we stayed in a hotel overnight. When we got to the hotel we took our luggage to our rooms. We went down stairs and we found the swimming pool, we went swimming and then we went to bed. The next morning we got up and packed and we were bock on the road. It was kind of fun because we had to cross the border into Canada. We had to show them our passports and our birth certificates to get across. On the way to go to our cabin we saw a bear cross the road in front of us. Then when we got to the cabin we
However, the nightmare wasn’t over. They got us on the plane at about 2a.m because the plane wasn’t ready. I couldn’t get on the plane because I kept buzzing when I passed the medal detectors, so that took another 20 minutes. Then we are on the plane and the plane isn’t moving, and we are waiting and waiting and no explanation. After a while the plane begins to move. It when around the run way and then they tell us we must get of the plane. It needed more service repairs. At this point I’m like give me my money back, and in return they call the cops because we were making to much noise. They fix the problem around 5:30a.m and we are off again. Keep in mind we haven’t eaten and no food was given. I didn’t even get water. I thought this was a sign of god and my time had come for me to die, but I made it there in one piece.
When we arrived at the Best Western, everyone grabbed his/her suitcases, quickly tucking them into the rooms as the candy shop across the street drew us in like moths to a flame. Afterwards, we went back to our rooms, put on our bathing suits, and went for a late-night swim under the stars. It was so cold, but we did not mind it because we were having so much fun. Later we went back to our rooms and went to sleep. Our next day would surely be packed with action and adventure.
I remember planning for this day for about two years. When I would finally get the chance to be with my best friends and take a road-trip to California to go to Disney Land, and now that the time to take that trip has come and gone I would like to talk about my most important journey.
Right when he said that, I felt like a real mother. Then, I made a horrible realization. My prized possession; the picture of my mother and father, was in our room. I could not leave that behind. If I was going to die, I wanted to do it with them in my hand. Before I went back, I made sure that my brothers were safe. I put them on a lifeboat, hugged them, and said goodbye. I quietly prayed that this moment would not be the last time I saw them. Quickly, I ran as fast as I could back to the room.
I board the plane squeezing my mom 's hand. I wake up with the plane jiggling and realize we are in my new home: America. I step off the plane and start walking with my parents, I’m a little nervous to see who else is apart of my family here.. I remember the last day I spent in Russia, we were with my family and had a party we would go out
A city was fast asleep as the night shrouded it. The only ones awake were those who belong to the night. A young man ran down the sidewalk, panting heavily.
I was scared out of mind, I didn’t know what they were gonna do with me, no one told me what was going on. Once the nurse took me to my room there were two other nurses, one of them was holding a needle and the other was holding a box filled with toys. I don’t remember what happen after that but all I know is that the toys were to distract me while they put an IV on my left arm.
On one summer day in August, I was hunting for wild goats when I found something strange laying on the ground. I decided to bring this person into my home, so I could help him. Gaea and I cleaned him and fed him. One morning we went to check on him and he was sitting on his bed, at first, I was terrified but then he spoke to me. "Do you know who I am?" He asked.
Today was the day, the day that my parents and my little sister and I were going to go to Cancun, Mexico. Our flight left at 5:00 am, so we woke up bright and early at 2:00 am. We needed to be there 2 hours earlier and we still had to put our luggage in the car and drive there. We arrive at the Park and Go. We pay them and we get on the shuttle to take us to the airport. We get through security and go to a little cafe. My parents get some coffee and my sister and I get a bagel with cream cheese. “We have to go to gate 12A,” I told them.

The glimmering rays of the sun rising started to reveal a silver snake. The last formidable natural obstacle holding the allied forces from progressing to the eastern shore of the Rhine River. It was 09:20 the morning of 24 March 1945, the allies held dominate control of all the lands west of the Rhine. It was time to start, the end of the war; it was time to take the Rhine. 16,870 Paratroopers soaring through the light blue morning sky, looking out the fuselage doors with anticipation. As they neared the Rhine they could smell and see a smoldering haze hovering over the eastern shore from the preparatory attacks the night before. General Churchill watched from atop a hill near the village of Xanten, Germany as the Allies threw a hail marry
Title-Journey To America I still can't forget the day when I came to America. It was the pleasant and very cold morning of 15th January 2016. My uncle was ready to pick up me and my family from JFK airport. It was a very exhausting, tiring and long non-stop 20-hour plane journey from India to America but the journey that I am never going to forget in my entire life.
...ind of meat of your choice (mostly lamb). I devoured the whole plate and washed it down with mango juice. I looked at the menu saw that restaurant also serves a variety of East African foods such as rice and Pasta with Goat Meat, Chopped Beef fried with vegetables called Suqaar, Fish, Beef Stake, Chicken, Delicious soup and more. It is a wonderful destination for anyone willing to bite a piece of meal rich in the true taste of Somalia and Ethiopia.
