My Favourite Place I've just finished some hard homework and I know
I've done it wrong. I've had a really bad day; my head is overflowing
with worries about SATS tests/ my 'English talk' / that 20-page-essay
I haven't started that has to be in by tomorrow. So where do I go?
(Although 'off the end of a cliff ' springs to mind, it's not the
answer!) I go to my bedroom with a bar of chocolate, tumble onto my
bed, press the play button on my video and settle down to watch
'Friends', or 'Trigger Happy TV'. Ah! Much better!
Purple! That's all you see when you walk into my room. Masses of purple
everywhere, followed by a blue beaded lampshade on my light that hangs
so low that it brushes your head every time you walk under it.
Mirrors, pictures and photographs decorate my room. What's better than
having a picture painted by your mum, gold and silver mirrors, and
photographs of your best friends smiling down at you from the wall?
There is a lot crammed into my small room! My giant wardrobe (my other
favourite place is at the shops, so it has to house a lot of
clothes!), and my bed full of cushions: - I love cushions! I have
cushions of every colour, and I especially love the Indian designs
with beads or tassels. The last time I counted there were thirteen! A
curtain canopy hangs over my bed, with my blue dream catcher above my
head as I sleep.
The bay window is one of the best features of my room.

This was a story about a man named Mike, and how he found God all over again. Though you may or may not believe in God himself, I believe this book would touch your heart regardless. Mike had been an upper class college student who was doing very well in his life. He had, money, an education, respect and overall he had a great life. He was considered a Christian and even attended a Christian collage. He had grown up in the church, and was what most people viewed as the perfect American citizen. Yet one day, while attending a church service themed of being the kind of person you say you are, he began to question himself. Was he actually being the person he said he was? Or was he just going on with life, and only focusing on what makes him happy? Is being a “good” Christian simply mean to go to a church and listen? To invest your money into different “Christian” organizations and to judge those that are different from you? Or is being the Cristian you say you are, mean to help out the people that we all ignore, and to actually rely on God, as opposed to going to him when you've ran out of choices? Those are just few of many things that Mike had began to question about his life.
The novel is described as a feminist novel. Yet, this is not exactly acurate. The absence of men in the utopian society may seem extreme to some, and it is. This is how Gilman makes her point. She does not create a world without men because men are terrible creatures who have corrupted the world. The utopia which lacks men is a clean peaceful place, which surpasses in almost every way the competitive societies that we live in. But, it is neither the absence of men nor the presence of women that makes this to be the case. Gender, in this novel, is symbolic for the most part. Gilman does separate the two genders to destroy stereo types, but also to establish a concrete difference between the two worlds. The male world is not bad, and the female good is not good. The world in which people are defined by others and limited is bad, while the world in which people are free to grow without being defined or compared to others, and are able to see the unity of all people is good. Comparing Herland to the real world, Gilman begins destroying gender based stereotypes. Because there are no distinctions of gender in Herland, nor any superficial characteristics which accompany gender, Herland women take on the roles of all people without considering any limitations. These women are strong, agile, nurturing, intelligent, cooperative, and able to rely on themselves. They are not "typical" females. As Gilman explains through the male character Van, "Those 'feminine charms' we are so fond of are not feminine at all, but mere reflected masculinity developed to please us because they had to please us, and in no way essential to the real fulfillment of their great process" (p59). In the same way, stereotypes about men can be thrown up as well. Gilman shows the reader that if people stop basing their identities on what others want, they will no longer be slaves to limitations. They will be free to discover their true selves and will allow others to do the same. Gilman shows readers that men and women are distinct people, but reminds us that they are people first. This can be seen when one of women of Herland named Somel, questions the men by saying, "But surely there are characteristics enough which belong to People, aren't there?
Tim’s Coffee Shoppe is a well established business that has been running as a sole proprietorship for over 30 years. The business needs to improve on its management strategy in order to perform optimally in its present environment. The purpose of this paper is to provide the owner Tim with suggested improvements on managing the human as well as financial resources of the coffee shop so as to remain competitive and increase profits. The Coffee house is conveniently located close to several metro stations, ensuring a steady flow of traffic. It is also situated near a University, presenting the business with a steady clientele of college students. The business is facing stiff competition from Queequeg’s coffee with 7 shops located near Tim’s. However, the restaurant seems able to hold on to its market share judging from the reported sales revenue of $ 400,000, and increasing sales. The Shoppe recently underwent a remodeling of its interiors and exteriors, and has purchased several new equipment including computers and a freezer. Tim’s is however facing challenges in staff management.
Where is home? Home is West Virginia, where spring flowers grow, summer nights are cool and calm, and fall leaves change colors as they blow across the ground. The three things I love most about West Virginia is the beautiful seasons, the recreational activities, and the fact that all my family live here. West Virginia is a recreational state, filled with beautiful seasons and strong family values.
As a viewer, the documentary’s intention to inform is more completely fulfilled by research conducted beyond the scope of the camera lens. Had I never written this paper, for instance, the reason for all the violence embedded within the subject matter would remain as enigmatic as the documentary itself.
Before taking Mrs. Hawkins’ English 102 class, I used to hate writing; no, I despised it. Along with my hatred for writing, I, as many other college students, am a terrible procrastinator. In my past English classes, my procrastination had affected my grades, especially when it came to papers dealing with multiple steps and drafts, due to the fact writing takes many timely processes to
United States of America Land of Opportunity? United States of America is known as the land of opportunity for many immigrants who dare to dream of a better life. Since the beginning of American history, United States has focused more about equal opportunity than any other country. There are many people who strongly believe that once they come to the United States it is almost guaranteed to find success. For example, my relatives in Korea always ask my parents how much my family has earned so far.

The world is full of many places and over time those places begin to change. Sometimes it is for the better and others it is for the worse but people don’t realize the effect that place has on other things, or how it relates to the future. Throughout this paper I will discuss the historical findings about my place, Honey Creek Park in West Allis, WI, and the reasoning behind why I think that if we don’t fix the way we view environmental places, whether it is a park, city, building, forest, etc that we will develop the world into a place where humans are its unworthy inhabitants.
I got dazzled once again by the beauty of St. Martin. St. Martin is undoubted a special place for vacation and one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Among all the places I have visited, it is the most unique. If anybody asks me about a vacation spot, the first thing that comes up in my mind is St. Martin. This is not for it is in my country but for its explicit natural beauty, social environment and the facilities available there.
All my life I had shared a bedroom with my siblings. First, I had to share a bedroom with my brother, because we lived in a two-bedroom apartment. A few years later my sister was born. By then, we have moved into a three-bedroom apartment, so my brother got his own room and I had to share with my little sister. Nine years later the last member of the family was born, another kid sister. Therefore, I ended up with two roommates. I wanted my own bedroom so bad that I was always complaining to my parents about how 15 years old girls should have their own bedroom. Finally, we all moved into a five-bedroom house, and I finally got my own room.
My favorite place as a child was County Park Lake. When we had family picnics because we all got together and there was great food and kids playing and the adults playing horse-shoes and could tell there was love for one another. There was no other place like this when I was a child. Some of my fondest memories was at that picnic site we should all have memories likes those.
