I strongly believe kids should start school later than 8:00 so that they can get better grades and have more focus. If kids start school early their grades can go down and they can lose focus. Sometimes I get to school and I am tired. My school starts at 8:30 so it starts later than usual schools though, so that means schools should definitely start after 8:00. Schools that start early should definitely think about a later start time. If kids start school later they will improve mentally. Having a later start time causes less stress and less depression. If kids get their 10 hours of sleep it helps them not only not tired but they’re also more happy. At school I personally feel tired, and I start at 8:30 so 8:00 is still pretty early.
Why Schools Should Continue Starting at Eight Despite popular opinion, to be beneficial, schools should continue on their current schedules, and not start later. Starting schools later can have a variety of positive and negative consequences on students. In the worst
How many times has this happened to you; it’s six thirty on a Tuesday morning, your alarm has already gone off twice, your still laying in bed and your bus comes in twenty minutes. This is an everyday occurrence at my house. It is a proven statistic that the average high school student does not get enough sleep. While some experts like Dr. Lee Yanku say “It is not the schools starting time that is the problem as to why students don’t get enough sleep, it is because of facebook, myspace and cell phones” The truth behind it is that we can’t budget sports, homework and extracurricular activities into one day and still get nine hours of sleep. This is hurting student’s academic averages and needs to change. Changing the school time will help boost academic averages among students, and isn’t th...
When you were 14-16 were you tired or sleeping in class? Odds are you were, because 60% of 14-16 year olds get less than 7 hours of sleep each night. Schools should start later than when it is now because of these 3 reasons. The 1st reason is that kids wouldn’t be so tired in their morning classes. They wouldn’t fall asleep in their morning classes. Kids would get enough sleep where they won't be so late to class. The last reason is that kids would feel better because they will get more hours of sleep than normal.
Starting school later also has a lot of health and academical benefits. Even if the school day starts 30 minutes later, It has proven to show great benefits for teenagers. In the pass Up For Debate: Should School Start Later It says “As a result, students were showing up to school alert and ready to learn and are focused and engaged in lessons.” Some people believe that starting earlier is better because a later start results in a later end to the day. But changing it to a later time will still give kids enough time to sleep and get their work
Schools starting Earlier in the day make it easier for students to get to school and be able to do after school activities and their coaches not worrying that they aren’t going to beat the sun for daylight. People say that if school started later that students wouldn’t be tired at school that is false because since students would have to wake up later they would go to sleep later at night making them tired in the morning
This is so important because schools are recommended to start school as late as 9:30. But instead, they start it much earlier, about 8:00 in the morning. This research shows that kids are being sleep-deprived and need to have school start later in the day. The reason it is so important that school start times should be later is that humans need sleep.
Throughout The United States of America this is becoming a rising concern with today's youth. In my personal opinion I believe that school should start at a later time in the day because it would greatly benefit students. My first reason for later starting times is that it would allow students to get enough sleep , and not have to rush around in the morning to catch the bus. Doing this would allow teens to sleep in their own sleep cycles. This would allow their bodies
If we don’t have sleep how will we work? Schools should start no later than 8:30AM. Later school arrival times would lead to better school performance. Studies show that teens who get the recommended amount of sleep tend to get better grades and tend to have better test scores. schools who have earlier start times tend to have not as great performance over all due to the sleep that is lacking in students.
Schools should start later, because with that extra sleep comes a better mindset. If a student has a better mindset, the students' academic skills might improve. Don't you hate waking up early for school in the morning? Most high school students wake up before the sun rises just to become ready for school. Teenage brains do not begin to function that early considering many are tired from staying up late the previous night. The National Sleep Foundation reported that most teens do not retain enough shuteye, one study found that only 15% reported sleeping eight 1/2 hours on school nights. That fact was extremely true for me when I attended high school. I barely was able to wake up, get dressed, and be in school on time since I was so tired. In my opinion school days should start later, precisely in between 9- 10 o'clock. If the school day started later attendance would improve, students will be more prepared, and student's attitudes and grades may improve.
“Research has shown over and over again that teenagers do better and feel better in schools that start later” (Omarsson). Starting school at around 7 or 6 is too early and causing kids to go downhill, it has been for a long while. Starting school later could possibly make school a lot better and even help graduation rates. Sleep is a definite must! Each day kids are constantly losing more and more sleep.
Some students enjoy school and some don’t it all really depends on the person. School can benefit but also stress students out. One of the ways school can stress students out is the start time. The earliest school starts in the US at 7:45 which is very early. So many students have things that they do outside of school which would include them staying up late and not getting enough time to rest at night. Causing students stress

In an attempt to help students to be well rested for the whole school day, High Schools around the country have been testing pushing back the start time to 8:30. Recent studies show that starting school later has a positive impact on kids grades and attitudes towards school.
