For me to be a UNCG Guarantee Scholar it would mean everything. Since I will be a first generation college student I had to work very hard to get where I am in life. I strive to make great grades along with managing my time to do extracurricular activities and show people that just because my parents couldn't go to college that doesn't mean I can't make it to college and change the family cycle. My family didn't go to college because it's very expensive so without a college degree it's hard to get a job that can pay you enough to send your own children to college, hence why I am applying for scholarships so I wouldn’t be able to use excuses as to why I couldn't go. Making it into UNCG and being able to come out without student loans or a huge debt would make me determined to do even greater …show more content…
Without college it would be impossible for me to become a pediatric nurse, so this scholarship would make a big difference in my life and help me change not only my community but also other communities. Since many people are in my situation in my community and are lost as to how to get into a college, and which college is the perfect college for them I can help them by telling them that the University of North Carolina at Greensboro helped me. With me spreading the word about UNCG being apart of my life and helping make it possible, a lot of people around me and younger than me will want to go also because they will want to be successful in life as the get older too. With all of the opportunities you offer at UNCG including studying abroad I believe I will grow into a very strong and smart adult attending this school. I brought up studying abroad because this is a great example of me having to learn how to be mature and be on my own so it will take a lot of growing for me to do
One day I hope to become a Nurse Practitioner giving compassionate and adequate care to those individuals who are less fortunate and are in need of care. My life experiences, educational background, and determination will drive me through what's to come as I prepare myself to gain my BSN and become a Nurse. It is with great pleasure and excitement that I am applying for admission to Colorado Christian University. I never thought after having a family that I would be attending college. I want to show my children that with hard work and a good spirit anything is possible. They look to me for guidance daily as they grow and mature into who they will become both professionally and spiritually. They are the driving life force moving me forward testing myself with every learning experience. After what I have accomplished so far I know that I can go further and complete what I believe will be my impression and imprint on this world. When I am gone I will look back happily at the legacy I have left for my family as well as the persons I will
I would benefit from this scholarship because not only would it help with the cost of my tuition, but the support will also help lessen my worries about my finances. This scholarship will help my parents as well since they are helping me with my college education. During the past two months and currently, my dad has been in the hospital due to having pancreatitis. In August when he was introduced with it, he went into septic shock and that day he had coded seven times. It is a miracle that he is with my family still, and with the support of this scholarship, it would help out a lot due to the medical bills that my family has. As in the past, I will work
In a world where most college freshmen do not graduate or dropout, i feel like it would mean to much more to me to graduate and be able to say I got my degree. studies have said that half of freshman will not complete there degree, another study said that 25% of freshmen will change their major before they finish their sophomore year. If i was given this scholarship money it would put me in a place where hopefully I won't become just another statistic. Another reason a college degree is important for me to achieve is so that i will be respected in my work industry of choice. When you are in a place of work, there is always someone who everyone looks up to because they know the most about certain things, but more often than not that person has the highest degree in his or her field. If I was awarded this scholarship i would be more capable of being that person because i would not have to worry about leaving school to figure out how I will pay off my
I believe in the value of nurses, I believe I will one day be a nurse just like those I now admire, and I thank this scholarship for also believing in my potential as a future nurse.
Getting this scholarship was my jump start to furthering my education and I knew from there that I was going to prove statistics wrong. I knew I was going to college and that things were going to be different for me and I was going to make a difference. I won’t be the black kid who drops out of school, because my education is too important to
I need this scholarship to achieve my goals and most importantly to make my family proud. My family did not get this chance that you are giving me so I am not just doing this for me, I am also doing this for them. I already have all the support from all of my family and all of my friends, but that alone is not enough to conquer my dreams, and to prove all the people that have doubted me that they were wrong. I hope that this organization can help me reach my goals, and to most importantly make them become a reality. I want to look back onto my life and know that this scholarship, and college helped me to be the man I will be. I hope you accept me into your college and most importantly giving me this
Since I can remember, I always considered Bloomfield my home. I grew up there, went to grade school there at Immaculate Conception, made memories I will never forget there; what a better way to continue the memories by attending school there at West Penn Hospital School of Nursing. As a child, I would not have considered myself economically disadvantaged, although we were. After going through a nasty divorce that left my mom with virtually nothing and with no formal education to support us, she never let us know she was struggling. Not going to college is a big regret of my mom and she never stops pushing me to be better, go to school, get an education because it is the only thing you will always have. This scholarship would help me with the
Unfortunately, coming from a home that requires me to work a part time job to help make ends meet, I have little to nothing to show in savings. Knowing that I can pursue the education I have been dreaming of without the pressures of mounting student loan debt or focusing on work more than school would shock me. For the first time in my life, I would have security in my future. With the financial security this scholarship could provide me, I would be able to dedicate more of my time to working towards becoming the best version of myself. The person in my dreams wakes up and goes to work on creative endeavors, hopefully something that advocates for emotional health, one of my greatest passions.
Studying with the McNair Scholars Program will enable me to obtain more hand-on experiences prior to attending graduate school. Most importantly, I believe that working with peers who are highly motivated will help me in becoming more motivated and inspired to do the work I am interested in. Being the first person who attends college and living in the United States for only 4 years, I am not able to find people who can provide me advice in my family and community. Therefore, I believe that becoming a McNair Scholar will allow me to become more knowledgeable.
At a young age, I knew that I wanted to be a businesswoman. As I grew older and saw my parents struggling with their finances and it was clear to me that I want it to be a financial advisor. My dream is to gain enough knowledge to impact the lives of future civilians to reach their financial goals. Currently, I’m working toward my bachelor degree in finance and a minor on statistics. I plan to obtain my masters degree in finance not only to be better prepared but also to help individuals and businesses grow financially.
“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them,” said Walter Disney. College is the beginning of some people’s dreams. With that being said, I am going to Iowa State to pursue my dreams and start my journey. However, it is very expensive since I am out- of-state and I want to participate in many organizations. I believe I should get this scholarship because of my diversity in activities, work ethic with jobs, and zeal towards volunteering.
Born and raised in an Indonesian average family, I have seen a lot of people my age not getting an adequate education. Luckily my mother values the education level of her children. She made us read kids’ magazines, continuously giving us books to read, and send us to an international school. I have understood the value of education since a very young age. Neither of my parents had the opportunity to attend college; because of this they struggled in their professional lives.
I was born in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, but lived the first ten years of my life in San Bernardo, a small town in the suburbs of the metropolitan area. To support the family, my father worked as a forklift driver, and my mother has a janitor. Early in my education, my dad seeking for better job opportunities moved back to Sao Paulo. However, living in the big city was far more expensive, and we end up in a poor neighborhood located fifteen miles from the downtown. I finished the high school in 1999 but instead applied for a college; I started working in one factory exactly like my father.
As a freshman, I thought no one would know who I was by the time I became a senior. From being involved in my school and community I have changed that idea. I think that I am the best candidate to qualify for this scholarship because I am a very hard working and driven student. I have had many academic achievements and have been very involved. I believe I am deserving of this scholarship because I have spent many hours of studying to get where I am today.
When it comes to school, academics always come first. Whether I am an athlete, employee, or member of a club, I am always a student first. With that being said, I have exhausted all of my efforts into my grades and I take pride in my academic accomplishments. Despite putting academics first, I am still an active member in the community and in the school. Also, when attending college, I plan on putting forth the same effort, if not more, into my academics and student involvement. All of the hard work in high school is preparing me for college and graduate school in order to reach my goal of being an attorney. Being awarded this scholarship will help me attend the college that will provide me the best education.
