My family was not the most privilege and didn’t have opportunities that most families have today. At a young age my family started to work to help and maintain the family. Had no time for school because there were outside doing labor work in the blazing heat of Mexico. I believe this is where I get my hardworking skills. By listening to their struggles they faced as a young kid and how they worked hard to get out the struggle and maintain a family fuels me to want to work hard and never give up no matter how hard it gets. My parents are my inspiration to keep moving forward in life. I am thankful that they went through hard work and dedication to give me a good life. I want to repay them with my educational accomplishment and success I have in my life. As I embark towards my journey of attending university, I know I have the determination, characteristics, and drive to be successful. Education is important to me because it gives the skills and tools I need to navigate the world. Without Education I will not be able to perform jobs competently, accurately and safely. With that being said getting a scholarship in the future to attend a college is one of my priorities. Receiving a scholarship will …show more content…
During class I bring leadership as I help people who are having trouble. By paying attention in class and not fooling around shows how good of a character I have. Throughout the day I try to do some service like pick up trash or just help tutor a student. By possessing these traits lead me to the realization that I enjoy helping people. I’ve learned that I have a desired to help people accomplish their goals. Therefore, I would be pursuing in becoming a personal trainer. I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school.
As a young lady graduating from The Dalles Whatonka High School I think it’s important to be involved in as many activity’s as possible. Throughout my high school years I have been involved in many school activities and comities such as student government. I have always had an interest in athletics and played sports. These leadership and athletic roles have tough me skills that will last me a lifetime.
Firstly, I would like to thank my parents because without them I would not be here and where I am today. My parents have always being my backbone. They have always supported me in everything I did. I am very thankful for all they have done for me. I look up to both of them because they set the standards for me and everything I want to accomplish and become.
As a child I did not know a lot about college. None of the adults in my life had been to College, my family did not talk about it, and it seemed like a distant land that I heard about only in movies and on Television. I was first introduced to college when my third grade class took a field trip to Iowa State University, clearly a much needed field trip considering my lack of exposure to higher education. I was immediately amazed by the grand architecture and massive buildings. I had never seen anything like a University campus before. The few things that I remember about the trip were that everything was big, the college students played with us, and we got to swim in the pool. While the larger purpose of the field trip may have been lost to my childhood excitement of getting to swim in a big pool, the field trip did mark the beginning of my knowledge of higher education and from then on I always viewed it as something that I would be a part of eventually, even if it did seem like a very distant future at age eight. As I grew older I developed other reasons for wanting to attend colle...
“Opportunity is missed by most because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work” –Thomas Edison. I have had to struggle to get where I am today, and there have been times that I thought I would not make it to my senior year of high school. My life would almost replicate the location of a natural disaster to some. I broke my arm this past October and had to undergo reconstructive surgery, everything academics wise fell out from under my feet. After having surgery on my arm I repeatedly missed school for occupational therapy, which is a form of physical therapy. On top of my arm, I had just gotten my job back at Arby’s. By November I was working anywhere from 20-35 hours a week with school, a broken arm, and OT. I had no time for anything, not even sleep. When I was at school I could barely keep my eyes open, it eventually got to the point that when I was able to attend a full day of school I would sleep during some of my classes so that I would not fall asleep at work that night. I have worked harder in this last year just to make it through, than I have in the last four years to keep my grades up. I work every night now, and my arm is a little more healed than it was when I first started my job, but I still have limitations as to what I can do as a human being. Throughout this essay I will cover these three major points; the most important thing that I have learned in high school, why the scholarship will make a difference in my educational goals, and how I hope to make a difference in the community with my career.
To be awarded a scholarship thru Kent State one must submit an essay explaining why they deserve a scholarship. Instead of listing a myriad of reasons why I deserve a scholarship I figured I would tell “my story”.
Reasons Why You Are Most Likely Not Going To Get A Scholarship So you think you want to pursue life with your head held high and your dreams right in front of you? If you’re like most children in the United States of America, you believe that you’ll do great in sports, continue to do them up to high school, and then receive a scholarship and make your way into some pricey college while continuing to play the sport you’ve been playing since you learned how to walk. I’m here to tell you that your dream is not as realistic as you think it is. Just because you look good kicking/ throwing/ hitting a ball or some other special talent, doesn’t mean that the NCAA will come running up to you will wide open arms saying you can go anywhere you want
My mother and father have always worked extremely hard to give our family a good life, which has motivated me to do the same and more. I will be the second person in my father 's family to graduate from college and the first on my mother 's side. This motivates me to graduate, start a career, and build a strong family to live a good quality life like my parents. Motivation is the key to success, and I already found the key.
My parents are my motivation to do better and to take every opportunity that I am given. Having a son in the family was very important to the Chinese culture and some traditional people would look down upon me for just being a girl, but my parents would never discourage me because they believe that everyone has potential. I always strive for a good future that my parents have always dreamed for me to have. They always place my future first and I could never thank them enough but to do my best and to make them proud. I understand the perception that a person should strive only for themselves but everyone has different approaches to their success. My parents are a big part of my motivation and, needless to say, they are a big part of my life. I could never imagine how life would be without my parents there to support me. Going to college and becoming successful pushes against the odds that were placed upon the daughter of two brave, ambitious
As my Senior year in high school is coming to an end and my college plans are being finalized, I recognize the need for financial assistance. Receiving this scholarship will allow me the opportunity to focus entirely on my studies and one day give back to my community. I feel as though I am the best candidate for this scholarship award because of my passion for learning, activity level, class load, and commitment to excellence. I have always strived to be the best and to reach my full academic potential. I have taken on challenges, loaded my schedule, and tried to be involved in as many school and community opportunities as possible. I pride myself on those aspects and that is why I firmly believe I am the best candidate for this scholarship.
Growing up in a less developed country has not only offered me difficulties but has also shown me the value of dedication. Both of my parents have sacrificed a lot over the years so they could have an opportunity to attend college and get a better life. My dad a former electrical engineer and my mom a former journalist have always faced many challenges throughout life and because of this, they decided to instill in me the same passion and dedication that they have had in their lives, so I could have the same chance to succeed just as they have done. Because of their support I have been able to have an outstanding performance in both academics and athletics.
Writing an essay as to “why I deserve this scholarship” gives way to the option of me writing a very factual and boring essay consisting of monologic sentences stating facts such as I volunteer my time in numerous places throughout my community such as my parish, my town, and all three of the honor societies I am apart of at my school which are the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society, and the National Science Honor Society. I could say that I have surpassed two-hundred documented and verified service hours since I began high school. I could go on to say how all these experiences have been rewarding and make me extremely happy knowing I made a positive impact in the lives of my community members. I could say I work extremely hard in school. I could brag about the fact that I take numerous AP classes, the hardest math and science classes North Hunterdon High School offers such as AP Physics
1.What first inspired you to pursue this profession? Was it the kitchen set my mom bought me when I was four or was it the incredible smells coming from our kitchen that always brought family and friends together? What I do know is that cooking always held a sense of fascination and intrigue for me. From a young age, I remember having an obsession with the creation of a restaurant. I can recall drafting menu after menu.
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
I have a passion for learning that exceeds all else in my life. There are so many things that I am interested in, things that I hope will continue to shape and impact my future. Science has not always been an interest of mine, but my love and appreciation for it has grown over the years. I try to push myself and find new avenues to explore in my education. The challenge that sciences pose is so endearing.
