Growing up in a less developed country has not only offered me difficulties but has also shown me the value of dedication. Both of my parents have sacrificed a lot over the years so they could have an opportunity to attend college and get a better life. My dad a former electrical engineer and my mom a former journalist have always faced many challenges throughout life and because of this, they decided to instill in me the same passion and dedication that they have had in their lives, so I could have the same chance to succeed just as they have done. Because of their support I have been able to have an outstanding performance in both academics and athletics. I am the first one in my family to study in the U.S. as foreign student and this experience has only reinforcing me the value of dedication. As a freshman in Augusta University the only thing I was good at, was playing tennis. This sport has taught me great values that I will carry through my whole life and is probably the main reason of why I am in college right now. My first two years as a student athlete were amazing. I have helped the team to earn a No. 20 national ranking position and as an individual I got ranked as No. 14 in the region. I am also an economics tutor in school. This job not only helps me to pay my bills, but also motivates me to go deeper on my understanding of economics. As a tutor, my knowledge is very limited, compared to my professors, but I try to help the students with the same passion that my professor have demonstrated to me. Additionally, I have been volunteering during summer at a local orphanage in my city. Helping the kids with their homework and keeping them engaged in recreational activities is not just fun but also gratifying, knowing that I can help the society that helped shape who I am
