Because being respectful is important to me, I attempt to demonstrate this in how I live my life and in the way I treat other people. I attempt to show my respectful nature in everything that I do. Whether its a simple gesture like opening the door for people behind me, I realize that this level of respect is appreciated and needed in this world. I demonstrate respect by staying courteous and by displaying kindness in all of my endeavors. Today we live in a world that lacks the respect of past generations and we are suffering because of it. I attempt to show thoughtful gracious behavior by staying humble about my accomplishments and by being accepting of criticism. Using simple manners, like please and thank you, show that I value respect and are respectful and considerate towards others. I always do my best to respect those older than me and by being polite to those around me. I show respect by encouraging the people in my life and congratulating others in their success, even if they beat me. This appreciative nature has benefited me greatly in life and I will continue, because that is the person I want to

I have been a four year letter-winner in volleyball and basketball. Athletics have been a crucial part of developing my character and work ethic. In sports, you must work together with your team to reach your goals. Trust and communication skills are vital and are tested every day. The failure and setbacks I have faced through sports have helped me to believe in myself and have the self-confidence that it takes to be successful in athletics and in life. As a senior captain of the volleyball and basketball teams, my leadership has improved tremendously as high school has progressed. Being a leader holds me accountable and I aim to be a role model for younger teammates on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.
Both on an off the field, my enthusiasm and motivation to obtain a goal is a trait that I am very proud of. I have faced many tasks where a leader had needed to step up and I am always willing to do so. I am also willing to get help when I need it. If I can’t complete a task by myself I do not mind asking a classmate, teammate, friend or a teacher for guidance. By bringing that openness and leadership to University of Charleston’s Athletic Training Program I believe that I can also attribute to the University of Charleston’s Mission Statement “to educate each student for a life of productive work, enlightened living, and community involvement.” By bettering the Athletic Training community by providing care to our Athletes I believe that I will be a great addition to the Athletic Training

Being a part of West Delaware athletics has taught me numerous things. I have learned many life skills and characteristics of a young adult and have made many great friendships along the way. I have learned that persevering and never giving up is a characteristic of a good leader and person in general. Persevering is a good trait to have, especially in sports. In a game, you could persevere by winning a game when you lost your best players and had to step up or by beating a team that was undefeated and #1 in the state. Persevering is not a hard trait to learn and requires a person that works hard to achieve this skill. West Delaware Athletics has taught me to never give up until the final horn sounds because you always have a chance until
Giving respect to others is something all students have learned since the elementary school days. I try everyday to be as kind to people as possible, and make sure they never feel left out in any classes they have with me. Sports were a very big part in developing my work ethic. The reason sports was the key in developing my work ethic was because I loved sports so much and was willing to give up a lot to become what I was in sports and I would not change anything. Will In high school sports I often found myself giving up time with friends to get better at the sport I was playing at that time. My work ethic also carried over to my school work. I began to apply myself in school like I would preparing for a sport.
Sports have been an integral part of my life for years. For as long as I can remember I have played a sport, be it baseball, volleyball, soccer, or any number of other sports I have dabbled in. I have never been the fastest, strongest, or most talented in any of them, but I have had a passion to play the game. I live for the rush of the wind in my face, or the stress of a close play. There are few things I have invested more of myself into than a game, even games I have not played in.
When looking into the workplace no, matter what job it may be. People see different types of work ethic. Work ethic lands in my eyes, the category of hard workers, the workers that do the bare minimum, and the workers that get away with doing nothing, or the bare minimum. We are successful by how high our work ethic is and what our expectation is in the class or with a specific teacher. How can you succeed if someone will praise you for any amount of work. Classes are based upon the first impression of the teacher in the beginning of the year. Students need to learn achievement for their days out of high school, teacher’s approval and to have a drive in life.
