As my Senior year in high school is coming to an end and my college plans are being finalized, I recognize the need for financial assistance. Receiving this scholarship will allow me the opportunity to focus entirely on my studies and one day give back to my community. I feel as though I am the best candidate for this scholarship award because of my passion for learning, activity level, class load, and commitment to excellence. I have always strived to be the best and to reach my full academic potential. I have taken on challenges, loaded my schedule, and tried to be involved in as many school and community opportunities as possible. I pride myself on those aspects and that is why I firmly believe I am the best candidate for this scholarship. …show more content…
Early in high school, I considered engineering, sports marketing, and physical therapy. All of these sounded interesting, however, none filled me with the desire I was longing for. My love for learning and helping others to learn as well, whether it’s academics or sports, made me realize that a career in teaching is what I want to pursue after graduation. My mom has been a teacher for many years, and I admire the passion and dedication she has for her students. I want to make a difference in the lives of students and create a desire for learning. Education is a gift we receive and all students deserve someone who will believe in and help them to reach their full potential. I firmly believe I am that person. I have the determination and commitment to be a highly effective teacher both in and out of the
Over all, I believe I embody the type of person this foundation is trying to help through this scholarship. This scholarship would mean the world to me and my family, it would help me achieve all my goals and dreams. I am confident that I am a Strong Candidate for the HSF Scholarship, and I believe I am very well rounded in all aspects of the requirements. Thank you for conserving my
I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school.
Feel I qualify for this scholarship because I love to help people. Through different experiences, such as sports and school, I have learned and demonstrated various leadership skills. Being a Link crew leader not only taught me how to be a leader but, it help me have faith in myself and to always look up to younger people. I joined link crew so I could help our new 10 graders find their way around, and to feel included and accepted at their new school. For example during orientation in august I was giving good amount of advice to my sophomore group to be able to survive high school since I am a senior this year This made me proud and humbled that I could make a huge impact in someone's life. Another reason is I am good at organization and
As an education major at State College, I’ve decided to become a teacher for several reasons. As I progressed through elementary, middle, and high school, many of my teachers were great role models for me. This has inspired me to become a role model for someone in the near future. My love for science and math has also influenced my desire to teach and make a difference in a child’s life. I want to teach students the subjects that I love so much. I want the feeling that I helped a child accomplish or learn something they couldn’t understand. One of the main reasons I want to become an educator is because I feel education has really lost teachers who truly love teaching and those who truly love teaching and those who have the desire to make a difference. I feel I can really help make a difference in the education world and bring back the love to teach.
I am a dedicated, passionate, creative person. I am interested in learning more about different cultures and helping people when I can. My hobbies include drawing, filmmaking and researching the 1960s. Indian culture played a very big part in late 60s trends so I want to take this opportunity to learn about the country first hand, as well as giving back to the community. I am different from others as I have both a political and creative viewpoint of the world, through the A-levels I take: art, graphic design and politics.
Writing an essay as to “why I deserve this scholarship” gives way to the option of me writing a very factual and boring essay consisting of monologic sentences stating facts such as I volunteer my time in numerous places throughout my community such as my parish, my town, and all three of the honor societies I am apart of at my school which are the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society, and the National Science Honor Society. I could say that I have surpassed two-hundred documented and verified service hours since I began high school. I could go on to say how all these experiences have been rewarding and make me extremely happy knowing I made a positive impact in the lives of my community members. I could say I work extremely hard in school. I could brag about the fact that I take numerous AP classes, the hardest math and science classes North Hunterdon High School offers such as AP Physics
Through my own experiences, and as enforced by others' opinions in the profession, I have found that teaching is one of the most rewarding careers. Not only are you placed in the position of instructing and guiding children and young adults through the life long learning process, but you are able to give back to the schools and communities which have supported your early education and experiences that opened you up to a bright future. In becoming an educator, I hope to someday share the knowledge and lend the helping, supportive hand that I was once given, allowing students to formulate their own perspectives of the multicultural society and world around them. Teaching is a career I have been interested in pursuing throughout high school, and as my experiences and study in the field expands, I feel that my desire to teach will grow stronger and develop more soundly.
I am proud of something, and I have discovered without it I do not know what it is I would be doing in the future as my career/job. My special talent is photography, or photojournalism, which I would take meaningful pictures that can affect social change throughout the world. If not photojournalism than just photography where I would take portraits of others, but my eyes are set to focus on conflicts and human rights issues and also the roles of women in traditional societies. It is like I am storytelling without even saying a word. Before I even knew that I could take a photogenic photo I always thought that I was going to be a lawyer, I always told myself I wanted to help put away people that are bad.
Throughout my high school career, I’ve been recognized as a well rounded student. I engage myself in team related sports that require teamwork and reliability, extracurricular activities that require responsibility and patience, all while managing to keep up with my academics. During my freshman year of highschool, I’ve dedicated my time and hard work to all activities offered by my former high school located in Marshall, Alaska. I was apart of the volleyball team, girls basketball team, and a native youth olympics athlete.
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
Receiving this scholarship would be beneficial to my education and career path in many ways. I come from a single income, middle class family, and unfortunately means that college is not a viable option for the future of either myself or my family. I have my mind set on attending a four year college, preferably University of North Alabama. This is crucial to my long term goals of becoming a Physician's Assistant or a Pharmacy Technician. Going to college would be a great achievement because I would be the first of my immediate family to attend college.
The route to gaining a higher education can appear as a rough unpaved road that only can be paved by our determination, so we can safely travel to meet our goals. The goal I am going to achieve as I pace my road is finish with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with an emphasis in Archaeology. I am currently in my third 3 year of my endeavor of achieving this goal. Throughout this time my worldview and way of thinking has been broken down and rebuilt to reflection the enlightenment and understanding for the world I have gained during my college career. The education goals I have made for myself are aimed to further this understanding.
I was born on July 29,1999 to Danette Tavares and Elston Seo. Through them I got two older sisters, Alison and Ashley, and one older half sister, Kristen. From when I was born until now I have always lived in Honoka’a. I love to relax and enjoy the beach with my friends and family, but I do like to play sports. For example I played soccer from kindergarten up until my sophomore year of high school, then I played softball for a couple of years.
“What are my ideals, educational plans, and ultimate goals, how will the University of Florida help me achieve them, and why am I deserving of a scholarship?” Some enjoy playing instruments in their spare time. Others are on sports teams, take roles in community theater, or enjoy dining out. Myself though, although I am a city girl at heart from the largest city in Volusia County, I enjoy embracing my roots in agriculture through my involvement and preparation for a career in the industry. My father’s family from up north were involved in agriculture before moving south many years ago, hence my growing up in the city.
There have been many factors that have inspired me to this career choice. Watching my teachers, both past and present, has inspired me to become a teacher. I have a genuine interest in lifelong learning and as such I have the desire to not only instil knowledge and values to others, but also encourage them to share my passion for learning. Social Justice and leadership roles at school, along with my extra-curricular involvement with Cowra Youth Council, have highlighted my ability to work with and for the benefit of young people. In essence I know that my abilities and aspirations will make me a good teacher.
