In school, more than anything else, I look forward to math class. My mind runs in patterns and numbers. I aspire to study finance and economics in order to use my passion for numbers and patterns to benefit others. My love for numbers is derived from the sensation brought on directly after completing a problem. There are not many feelings more rewarding than completing a proof of a derivative and discovering that the answer is correct after 20 minutes of frustrating work! I have been told time and time again to choose a career that I am passionate about; through business, and more specifically finance, I can use my love for numbers daily. Studying finance will allow me to use my skills to enhance the lives of my clients. Not only will I help them allocate their money into investments and savings accounts, I will also have the knowledge to teach them how to properly care for their assets. An education from the The Wharton School will raise these important abilities and will give me the best chance to change lives and make …show more content…
The speaker was marvelous and the more he spoke, the more I became impressed with the vast opportunities available at Penn. At Pennsylvania I will have the chance to study abroad, something very important to me, and immerse myself into a new culture and perfect my foreign language skills. One of my goals in life is to travel to 150 different countries; so, having the chance to live in a new country for 4-5 months would truly be a dream come true. Another attractive aspect Pennsylvania offers is its opportunity for community service. Being located in a metropolitan area the opportunities to give back are nearly endless. At home, community service is important to me, but the opportunities are not nearly as numerous. I would use the platform granted by Penn to help those around me and transform Philadelphia into an even greater city to call home for four

I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school.
In November 2011, I committed to Pennsylvania State University, which offered well-respected academic excellence and a guaranteed tailored training
I would pick this community service because I love giving back to the people. If you have ever had someone help you in life or have struggled throughout your life and you had certain people to do stuff for you it makes you happy and it makes them happy to see you happy. That’s my main reason why I would pick this because I love seeing people happy and enjoying life, and at the end of your day it should have you feeling even better knowing that you took the time out of your day to go help out the homeless. Volunteers show up to help pass out hot dogs, clothes, blankets, and etc. That might not seem like a lot, but to me it means the world to them knowing that their own family won’t help them out, but strangers will, I always say it is the little things in life that make people happy and that is
I am hoping that the career as a financial advisor is right for me from what I hear from everyone, it seems like a pretty good field to get into. During this paper I plan to find whether this career is actually for me or if it’s time that I change my major yet again. Since I really don’t know what I want to do with the rest of my life, and the career as a financial advisor is just something that came to me in my thoughts I really hope I can find what I need to know to make a decision if this is what I want my life to be.
In addition, I found that I have a passion for mathematics, especially algebra. When I am solving a math problem I feel like it is a puzzle and I find it enjoyable when I
What do you want to be when you grow up? This seemingly common question is asked to children everywhere. A child concludes their answer As a child, I had wished to be many things: a teacher, a writer, an environmentalist. Going to an even younger age, I had dreamed of being a Princess in a mystical land, a cereal taste tester, and even a dinosaur. As I grew older, my senseless dreams evolved over time into something more.
I got my eyes on the finance industry mainly because of the scope and the different types of opportunities available in this field of work in my home country. You want to know what money sounds like? Go to a trading floor in the middle of the working hours. You will be hooked in seconds. This field of work is very unpredictable. Nobody knows wh...
During my four years at college, I hope to receive a quality education at Penn State University. I want to challenge myself academically, taking high level classes to prepare a post-graduate job. I would also like to become immersed in the rich community at Penn State. There is a plethora of activities offered at Penn State, and I plan to take full advantage of these great opportunities. I would like to join a business or finance program, as I have a deep passion for business and feel like there is value in getting involved in finances outside the classroom. I would also like to study abroad during my time in college. Penn State has over three hundred study abroad programs, taking students across the world to fifty countries. I am very interested
I married young and poor. Although very much in love, my husband and I knew that love would not be able to sustain us. So we planned and came to the decision that we needed to go to college. With the determination to be better than where we were, and where our parents’ were, we attended school and worked multiple, minimum-wage jobs to pay for it. It took longer than planned, but we both graduated. That is when we met with the brutal truth - our prized college educations did not make us competitive workforce candidates nor did it guarantee us jobs. It was tough reality. However, we still had the determination to succeed. So we went back to the drawing board, or in this case, we decided to go back to school. However, we felt that taking out more
My favorite thing about doing these service projects is that there are many available opportunities to help and that I would be able to resolve issues facing a community. Community work takes time, patience, and dedication, therefore it is not a simple task. However I believe that as I grow older, I would continue to look forward doing community services. Not just because of benefits I get from it, but because I feel a sense of achievement from my ability to help
I believe a finance degree is my best path forward to help me succeed in business management and I plan to continue to target my future academic and extra-curricular activities to help me achieve this goal. The accounting class I took as an elective during my junior year really sparked my interest in finance and
Math is a subject has always and will continue to pulled my interests. This was because it was a subject that would lead me to a single unique answer. Once I started to attend high school, physics then opened up another interest, not only with math, but an interest in Math with actual application into the real world. With physics, it allowed me to see how math could be used to predict events. The classes that I have taken that has shaped my interests for my major of science in mathematics are Physics, and Computer Science.
I took ap courses in calculus and biology, and I was successful in them. I’ve always looked up to scientists and engineers, and I love learning new things in these fields. During my free time I look into new innovations and technological advances, many of which are created by engineers which is really inspiring. I also love working in groups and coming up with ideas together in order to make a better product. It’s exciting that there could be more than one answer to a problem and you’re able to be creative with ideas.
Life is all about choices. Some choices have the power to alter the rest of your life, while other choices are minuscule. Ever since I was a young girl I've made decisions: what I want to eat, what I want to wear, what I want to do. As I've gotten older my decisions have become more important. Some decisions I make now could potentially affect the way I live the rest of my life.
