Life is all about choices. Some choices have the power to alter the rest of your life, while other choices are minuscule. Ever since I was a young girl I've made decisions: what I want to eat, what I want to wear, what I want to do. As I've gotten older my decisions have become more important. Some decisions I make now could potentially affect the way I live the rest of my life. This past year has been full of big decisions. I've had to choose what college I wanted to attend, what I wanted to major in, and what classes I wanted to take. Although these were big decisions, they are not final. Chances are I will rethink my major and drop classes. Regardless of if I change my career path or not, I know I am currently on a path to success. I have …show more content…
Michigan State has many career options that I can choose from. I plan on finding a major that fits my characteristics and that I can prosper in. I have many obstacles that I will need to overcome during my time at Michigan State. I must decide if I am willing to attend graduate school. I also have to work hard in school now so I am able to get accepted to graduate school. The acceptance to most graduate schools is very competitive. I would have to find a way to distinguish myself from others. I understand that if I go to graduate school there will be many sacrifices. I must find a way to afford the additional schooling. Going to graduate school will also be very time consuming. I will have less free time to see my friends and family. Instead I will have to devote my time to studying and homework. Although I will see my family and friends less, I know going to graduate school would make them proud. My whole life, my parents have encouraged me to get a good education. They stress the importance of pushing myself to reach my maximum potential. Not only do I want to make my family proud, I want to make myself proud. I have always had high expectations for myself. The thought of being average scares me but it also motivates me. Like most people I plan to live a financially stable life. I don’t want money to be a concern and I want to be able to support myself without anyone’s
On July 11th, 1975 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin a doctor by the name of Lester V. Salinsky, performed a surgery on the plaintiff, James Johnson. The surgery was took place at Misericordia Community Hospital (Misericordia), defendant, by Dr. Salinsky. Dr. Salinsky was scheduled to remove a pin fragment from the plaintiff’s right hip. However, “during the course of this surgery, the plaintiff’s common femoral nerve and artery were damaged causing a permanent paralytic condition of his right thigh muscles with resultant atrophy and weakness and loss of function” (Johnson v. Misericordia Community Hospital, n.d.). The plaintiff filed suit against Dr. Salinksy and Misericorida on October 13th, 1976, fifteen months after his unsuccessful surgery, which
When it comes to the topic of college, Martin Espada, the author of "Why I Went to College," argues that college is a must and that if you do not attend college there will be consequences. In comparison, David Leonhardt, author of "Is College Worth it? Clearly New Data Say," also argues that college is very important to get a higher paying job than those who do not attend college. In contrast, Leonhardt also argues that college may not be the best idea considering the substantial amount of debt provided with college. My own view is more with David Leonhardt because I understand both sides of attending or not attending college with the positives and the negatives of the dilemma. This discussion is important in our society today because we constantly push the idea of college on to kids that may not even be ready for college or the fact that the debt may not be worth it; also the rise in the wage gap between college students and non-college students.
Is college worth it? Is college worth the time and energy you invest? This is a question that many students ask themselves as the cost of college rises and jobs are harder to find. As a 27 year, old college student myself I really thought about this question. I had to think back when I first started college at the age of 18 and how I was excited about starting college. I easily got tired of all the work that it took to get the degree so I dropped out. After having my first child and trying to work and take of her and myself with only making minimal wages, barely get by that when I knew college is worth it. A college education is one of the most reliable paths to financial success for students and gives the opportunity
My purpose and goals in attending college is to make something of my life. It is a good thing. No one wants to be a nobody. But sometimes it takes time in order for one to realize this. & nbsp; Upon graduation from high school, I, like the majority of others high school graduates, had no clue what direction my life was heading or even what I wanted to become.
In conclusion, I realized that my future depended on what I was willing and able, to make of it. I had to make the decision to put my fears behind me and move forward with the opportunities that would be available to me after I earned a college degree. I want to work in a career field that I went to school for and earned a degree for, not to just work at an everyday job, being overworked, under paid and unappreciated. I look forward to the day of graduation when I can be an encouragement to others experiencing these same issues and an inspiration to my children.
Small events can drastically change lives and leave decisions to be made which result in either
I want to go to college for the wholesome intellectual stimulation and to get more involved with my community. College will be my last opportunity to do so before I enter the work force. At college I can be intellectually and academically challenged; I will be able to learn with friends who are as dedicated to learning and the pursuit of knowledge as I am. My goals in college are to acquire the skills that I need to lead a successful and productive life, to expand my knowledge of the world, to step out of my comfort zone, and to become more proactive.
In life, as little as one decision can have a big impact on the rest of our journey. There are many different factors that go into how we make those important decisions, and a major one is our environment. Our environment can be broken up into subtopics, and I think the two major ones are education and the people we surround ourselves with. The environment in which we grow up in has a major influence on the choices we make throughout life.
Noted authors, Brandon Chambers, is quoted saying, “If you are going to fear anything fear success. Think about what you are doing and when you succeed what life you will have.” There are several different reasons why I could stay home, work and not go to college; I could go to work every day and make more money for the house, it’s easier, and I would be less stressed. Now, on the other hand there are many reasons why I should go to school; such as further my education, make my family proud, and make myself proud. I am attending college for several different reasons. One reason is to further my education. I hate feeling like I don’t know something, I like being the person everyone comes to for information. Also, because I want to be better prepared for my major, I want to be better then the next person with the job credentials. I want to major in Social Work and Criminology. I dream to be a counselor or an clinical service social worker. I want to help people who need someone there for them someone who can guide them or even just talk too. Another reason is because I would be the first in I would be the first in my family to go to college. I feel in some type of way I am setting an example for my parents and my brother that they too can go back to school. Lastly is simply because I love school. I love knowing more and more each day. College is not for everyone, but I will be successful by grasping the benefits, preparing for the problems, taking heed from experts, and working on strategies to be successful.
Life is something that we can give or take and the choices that people make decide this.
I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.
In life, people have to endure lots of things. These things affect us all differently, in many different ways. They shape a person's life. When we go through everyday life, we don’t always become conscious of it, but everything we go through, could somehow affect the choices we make. The decision could be so small as choosing between certain types of donut, or something as big as applying for a loan, but because of the things we’ve learned through past experiences, it could stop us from doing them. People’s actions and their intentions are based on past experiences, causing them to make certain decisions. Kn kn kn kn kn kn kn kn knkn n kn kn kn n ljn ln kn kn
When growing up in this day, with many of our fellow men and women trying to get a taste of the good life. They will try to obtain happiness in very different ways with how they treat each other. The choices I have made have given me great opportunities to create a better and more fulfilling life for me. The reason I believe that choices affect our lives so greatly is because most of us our given a fair chance in todays world. An example from my life is being able to get over family problems with my dad. I made a life choice not to have contact with him because of the man I saw when I was a child. The troubles in my family will help me be a strong and more independent person throughout my life. Having independence will help me continue to grow into a hopefully more successful adult. Making the choice in not having contact with my father was a difficult decision. It was hard to keep a relationship with my real brother because he still keeps in touch with my dad. My older brother may look down on my choice, but I believe that I made a better choice. In the future I may have regretted in not speaking to my father, but for right now I think it is better to cut all communication with him. Being able to make a hard choices in cutting communicati...
