My purpose and goals in attending college is to make something of my life. Noone want's to be a nobody. But sometimes it takes time in order for one to realize this. Upon graduation from highschool, I, like the majority of other highschool graduates, had no clue what direction my life was heading or even what I wanted to become. So after graduation I decided to explore my options at the University of Pittsburgh. Wow, was this a mistake. Not only was the college to big for my own well being, but the big University provided too many distractions. This is why I feel I have finally taken the right and first step in securing my future. Currently, I am attending Waynesburg college in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, majoring in computer science and minoring in business. I have always had a fascination when it comes to computers and I think that this is a very good
One of the proudest accomplishments of my life was earning my high school diploma, despite all the hard work that led me where I am today was well worth it. Many people would expect me to say I am coming to college to better myself as a person or to continue my education. The truth is I want to change a life in my community, make my parents proud of their daughter and start a tradition in my family.
College is a place where people go to learn and to grow as a person. Most people go to college for the same reasons. They want to set a good foundation for getting a job, experience new things, or because their parents wanted them to. All of those reasons apply to me also.
I believe that there is no nobler purpose than the endeavor to find freedom, and having said this, I want my college education to be more than an attempt to earn a degree. It is my hope that because of college I will realize...
“A good education is a foundation for a better future.” ~ Elizabeth Warren. The reasoning behind why I want to go to college is to better my future. I am considered one of the first generation in my family to go to college, putting a lot of meaning behind why I believe I should go on to a different path. From a very young age I have always held high expectations of myself, even of the numerous changes in careers I had obtained an interest in. I have always envisioned myself going to college because I certainly value education. I believe that the more education I receive, the more valuable I am to this generation of the work force. Not only does my passion of learning hold place in the reasoning behind why I want to go to college, but because of my role models growing up. My parents both encourage me on a daily basis to go to college, and have encouraged my initiative to seek more in life. My father once explained that he once had this opportunity to receive a free ride to college but decided to stay home and start a family. He of course never looked back or regretted his decision because if not I wouldn 't be here today, but he encouraged me to take on these amazing offers and
Noted authors, Brandon Chambers, is quoted saying, “If you are going to fear anything fear success. Think about what you are doing and when you succeed what life you will have.” There are several different reasons why I could stay home, work and not go to college; I could go to work every day and make more money for the house, it’s easier, and I would be less stressed. Now, on the other hand there are many reasons why I should go to school; such as further my education, make my family proud, and make myself proud. I am attending college for several different reasons. One reason is to further my education. I hate feeling like I don’t know something, I like being the person everyone comes to for information. Also, because I want to be better prepared for my major, I want to be better then the next person with the job credentials. I want to major in Social Work and Criminology. I dream to be a counselor or an clinical service social worker. I want to help people who need someone there for them someone who can guide them or even just talk too. Another reason is because I would be the first in I would be the first in my family to go to college. I feel in some type of way I am setting an example for my parents and my brother that they too can go back to school. Lastly is simply because I love school. I love knowing more and more each day. College is not for everyone, but I will be successful by grasping the benefits, preparing for the problems, taking heed from experts, and working on strategies to be successful.
occupation and job. When I first entered college back in 1992, I knew I wanted to be a nurse. Toward
I decided to attend to North Carolina A&T for many reasons such as its scholarships and other forms of financial aid that it provided, its strong engineering program and challenging academics, and its pride that can be felt throughout the campus. Attending A&T was a great financial choice because it offered me the most money out of the schools I had applied for because of good amount of scholarship money it gave me to attend school. If I would have went to other schools I would have to take out a lot of loan money just too barely pay to attend. North Carolina A&T is well known for its excellent STEM based programs. Since I am majoring in electrical engineering going to A&T would be a wise choice. Many people have told me that even though the
I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.
College education is one of the most vital necessities ever in modern times. The rapid growing businesses and jobs that are out there to offer are mostly going towards to people who are college educated. College education also promotes people in jobs for higher pay and guaranteed job security. College education also improves better life for individuals and ultimately leads to a better society overall. Out of all the reasons and facts that college education has to offer it makes me want to go to college, especially a four year university to obtain my bachelor’s degree and yet to become a physician or specifically a cardiologist.
I have never wanted anything more in life than I want to go to the college of my choosing. I’ve thought about my future a lot, some things I am still not sure about but one thing I am sure about is that college is be and is my main priority. There are many reasons I want to go to college, I want to go because it will make my family proud, it will give me leverage in the future, and it will give me a sense of adulthood. The biggest reason I want to go to college is it will make my family proud.
way that can be a distraction, will be set aside and focus only on what is important.
College has been persistently on my mind throughout my life. My mother has constantly told me ever since I began kindergarten that I must earn tip-top grades in order to continue my education into college. Although I always knew I wanted to advance to college, I could never decide which college I wanted to choose. I knew what interested me, but I did not know where to move to be fulfilled with my education. Until my sophomore year in high school. A college fair at my school began one day and there I first found out about Parkside. The college had a great looking campus, majors in my interest, and was only an hour and a half away. The first quality that interested me was the major in computer science. I love computers and have taken several classes on coding, website design and graphic design. When I noticed the majors I started to seriously consider Parkside. Later I took a school visit to grasp more about Parkside and to distinguish it for myself. The tour was extremely entertaining and excited me to no end. Venturing the dorms, classes, and hallways filled with college goers doing their business made me both exhilarated and determined to
Two years ago, going into college, I had no idea what I wanted to major in or what my plan was for the future. I have worked at my grandfather’s insurance agency throughout all of my senior year and thought that if I didn’t know what I wanted, I should just go into business and always have the “office” to fall back on. When my first classes as a business student started I found that it was extremely hard for me to stay focused and even harder for me to find the motivation to study. I just wasn’t interested in the material and had no desire to learn about business statistics. I knew the path I was on lead to a dead end; I needed a different route. I got on to mywsu and started searching for classes that caught my interests. This class caught my attention. I love to dig deep into my thoughts and really think about my views on things and listen to what others views and opinions are.
said. Campus demographics might be diverse, he said, but people are still there for the same reason. In contrast, he said, unschooling has allowed him to actively seek opportunities to meet people who travel different walks in life.” (thechoice) Everyone has also the same goal in mind which may actually set you back from your goals. That one important goal is that everybody wants to go to college and graduate from it. You meet tons of new people throughout your classes but every single one of them cannot wait till the day they graduate and move onto their future job which is not even promised. College helps people mature individually. It’s the first time people live by themselves in certain cases and you are certainly responsible for your actions. If you don’t do your homework then you will have a bad grade. In
Along with my change of interest and working for a company that helps pay for my school I was looking for a better college to attend and that had a program that would fit my needs. I soon became aware of Maryville University and the weekend and evening college program that they offered.
