School: the noun that fills many students' stomachs with dread as they think of having to retreat from summer and wake up so early again every morning. There are some students having to wake up as early as 5 a.m. to study or make it on the bus route. Recently, it has come into question whether school boards should push back starting times because of studies conducted by medical doctors and psychologists. In my opinion, schools should start back later because students, specifically middle school and high school, cannot handle the early starting times on top of everything else they have to deal with. First, many teens lead busy lives. Some have part-time jobs after school while others are in sports and clubs. That, coupled with the commute back and …show more content…

For instance, swapping the times of elementary and high school starting times, since elementary schools start later, sets problems because some younger kids may have to wait for the bus early in the morning causing problems with many parents' working times. Then, if schools were just to get more school busses to solve that problem, then they would have to spend money they may not have. Many coaches also see a problem with pushing back the times because then players may have to stay into the night after school causing them to get home later. However, many schools all over the United States have already started this program and do not have many problems with it. Their students grades have risen only a little, but they are much more aware of their surroundings and they make it to class on time much more frequently. There have also been less accidents where teens have fallen asleep at the wheel. A solution to the bus problem could be that students ride city-wide busses.
