One may wonder exactly what it is that qualities a strong leader possesses. A strong leader is determined, and strong willed. They must be of good judgment, and without bias. They cannot easily be persuaded, and they are firm, yet at the same time, a good lead must also empathize with his subordinates, and have the best interest at heart for said subordinates, at all times. However, with that being said, a good leader cannot be afraid to discipline his subordinates when necessary. Unmistakably, being a leader is a very difficult feat – one which not everyone can accomplish. A leader must be an authority, a friend and a counsellor, all at once. They must be responsible, and always take into account the disadvantages of a situation. Not everyone is suitable to be a leader, whereas, just about anybody can be a good role model.

A great leader, in my opinion, should know their subordinates and must understand that leadership is not about the leader. For example, if subordinates are doing drugs, the leader should be aware of this and they should be able to spot the signs. Two girls in my squad were addicted to something, but it was not drugs. One of the girls was addicted to pur...
... Validation of my experience can only be achieved through the required knowledge and many years of experience. Lastly, from all the articles and discussions that I have read, I have realised that one key element is essential to becoming an effective leader, namely be yourself and be humble. When an employee moves into the supervisory role the added bonus is when that employee knows how the rules of the game and has the necessary quality to inspire, challenge and motivate their employees. “Usually when an employee gets promoted from within its own company it really does motivate and empower the rest of the employees to aspire to become leaders. So, when the new supervisor has the supervisory skills and qualities it is really the company that wins.” Wilcox comme...
During supervision, I expect my supervisor to constantly advise and guide me with my decisions. These decisions may mostly be work related; however, they may also have to do with licensure, or even school. I also expect encouragement and support from my supervisor when I need it. For example, if I have a bad day I expect my supervisor to be there to put me back on the right track. I expect for my supervisor and I to get along and have a mutual relationship where we both genuinely like each other as people.
In exploring the topic of whether or not a supervisor is ready to become a team manager, it is important to define a distinction between a supervisor who is merely effective in their position and a supervisor who is ready to take on a greater leadership role. The former completes the tasks and deliverables that are assigned to them simply to fulfill the qualifications of their job title. The latter not only completes their assigned tasks and deliverables, but looks for opportunities to go above and beyond; they use these assignments as opportunities to develop themselves professionally, and they implement the skills they have learned as well as skills they already possess on a daily basis to prove his or herself as an effective leader. To begin, do you have what it takes to be a leader? Do you have great personality? If you can make a person laugh but have that fire to turn on, than being a leader is your thing. But there are some flaws to not making a leader. If you are not creative and opened minded and you have trouble laughing and smiling, than I am sorry being a leader is not for you. My friends say that to be a leader you need to be well-educated in every skill that you are trying to be a leader for. Also to have great people skills, to interact with people from around the world. But if you have trouble interacting with people than being a leader is not for you. But with having good personality comes great responsibility. To have responsibility you need to have good organization, good time management skills and lastly to have a sense of when something is wrong or when something is right. But there are flaws to having great personality and having good responsibility. To having good personality you can never be mad or get mad to punish someone for no reason. Also if they had good leadership skills than they might convince the people to do whatever that leader wanted. But there are also flaws with responsibility than that leader or whoever may take their responsibility to far and may stretch there
In each department, there are different ways on how a supervisor handles or checks the trainee’s performance. Even though there was no formal orientation with the departments we were assigned to--what we had was a general orientation along with the company’s dos and don’ts--the expectations that my supervisors had for me was discussed once I was introduced in the Products (Dom) department. There was no spoken rule when it comes to how soon you need to finish the task given to you, unless the team deems it urgent, whatever task it is then should be finished within a day or within the allotted time. In my case, one of the strong points that my supervisors said that they noticed was my attitude towards work. Because even though they did not mention
I learned that for me to be an effective leader I have to be able to change follower’s behaviors, and make them both satisfied and perform well. When I become a manager I have to realize that I will be working with a diverse group of people and what works for one person might not work for everyone. It is important to have a leadership style that leads to positive outcomes that is valued by the organization. I think it will be important for me to make each employee feel like they are appreciated and that their voice matters in the company. I think it is important to give frequent feedback so employees can know how their performance and know how they are doing. I would like workers to see me as a fair manager that distribute duties and outcomes fairly doesn’t show favoritism. I would like to be able to keep everyone motivated and working together as one to keep employee moral high so it can benefit the
Don 't assume that you and your employee have the same idea of what their job entails. They can start by addressing all items which fall within the employee’s scope of work and discuss what results are expected. Be forthcoming with timelines and the need for urgency when working through projects. “Supervisory encouragement is when supervisor provide clear goals and encourage open interaction and actively support development teams’ work” (Williams, 2017, p. 140). For example, when an employee is performing a job that must be completed to start the next phase in the project it is crucial to assign deadlines. During this time there should be an open dialogue, letting the employee ask questions to clarify job objectives and able to give feedback about achieving the deadline. Employees look for recognition and encouragement to use their skills to their full potential. Invest in employees by offering training and learning opportunities. Show that you really consider them an asset by investing in their development. Show your staff that you trust their judgment and abilities by giving them new responsibilities.
