In today's changing environment of healthcare, it is time to develop inventive leadership, which is the capability to think and act beyond the boundaries limiting the potential and avoiding professional derailment or faltering career moves.
The path to successful leadership especially in nursing begins today. Here are some ways to make that happen:
• Keep getting feedback.
• Solicit feedback on a routine basis.
• Sometimes examine yourself and asking others too if you are doing the right things
• Become more self-aware.
• Set a goal and plan to achieve it within a stipulated time

Leaders can help create a deeply satisfying organizational culture at the unit level by engaging staff in the development of shared values in their work. This demands a pattern shift from a more traditional command-and-control style of staff supervision toward a transformational style of leadership in which leaders enhance the motivation, confidence and performance of their follower groups.

A leader must be committed to passion and purpose, Nursing leaders are committed patient advocates, clinicians, but the true test of commitment comes when it’s tough to get out of bed and go to work with a smile, yet you do because you know you are there to serve a determination.

Rejoice with what individual employee can bring to the team. Make rounds daily to connect with your employees on the unit or in your department. Concentrate on establishing a relationship with each staff member by knowing their names and their children’s names.

It’s imperious to hold all employees answerable for the part they play in the overall goal. Develop a record for each employee and meet with them every occasionally to assess their growth, deeds, and chances for development,. Measure their —strengths, weaknesses, chances, and fears.

Be an case study in behaviour principle for all workers that are affiliated with the organization’s standards, assignment, and values. As a leader, be a role model and also use the goal and standards in everyday conversation with your staff.

• Communicate on all levels
Communication is an essential tool in being a leader.. Incorporate support services, physician and other significant member into daily rounding on all units.
