I have gained knowledge in each of my classes, but the greatest piece of information I have gathered is from my Business Competition 109. This course is taught by professors Crawford, Huston, and Polito in St. Francis Hall. The courses goal is to teach us teamwork skills, small business skills (being able to start one and the ability to run it successfully), and the time management since the course is on a schedule. The idea to separate the students into groups, have create a business plan and present there idea to the professors and their fellow classmates. At the end of the semester we present to local business people who will then vote on the top four businesses, taking into account profitability, presentation skills, and the quality of the business plan.
In the business competition I paired off with Tony, Elizabeth, Tyree, and Cole. We were five complete strangers and we were expected to create a winning business. At first we started by simply getting to know one another. Our professors had built into the syllabus several days to be spent on team building activities including es...
Forming: The teams were chosen randomly by the lecturer. We did not know much about each other. We were excited to work together and get to know each other. The first meeting was mostly spend on asking basic information about each other and since we were not appointed with a leader the talk was mostly initiated by two of the members who were seems to be extraverts. A little competition was apparent between these two members while the other two looked as if they have no idea. But by the time we tried to form some rules and working plan they had come up with suggestion and ideas on how to go about it.
“We learn more by looking for the answer to a question and not finding it than we do from learning the answer itself.” People go through their whole lives trying to figure out who they are, look for a sense of purpose or belonging, or attempt to discover the right path for them-self. The lucky ones have somehow found what ever it is they were looking for throughout their journey. They try to teach the people who are still looking how to find their way but often fail because it is not up to them where or how someone else should live their life. It is up to the individual himself to find fulfillment.
Business can be learned in many different ways. One of the best ways to learn how to run a business is through experience. Even if that experience is just a simulation, it helps to give new perspective and helps one see how a business might be run in actual life. The BizCafe simulation is one such tool that is useful for acquiring knowledge and experience of how a business is run in the real world, rather than just reading about it. This simulation required for a group of four or five people to run a simulated cafe. The team together had to make various decisions from how they wanted the cafe to be run to what kind and how much coffee to sell. My team and Express Espresso, overall did quite well and I learned a great deal from this experience.
I am one of those guys that like to make the world a better place so I feel like if I used what I learned from business simulation I can help make the world a better place for sure. A major key to success for me is making sure the world is a better place so I feel like if I can open more businesses in the future I am changing the world because that will give people who don’t have a job something to do. The biggest thing that I learned from doing the module was managing your products for me that is a big key if you want to have a business because you have to make sure your business is heading the right direction. Like I said before what I can do with what I learned from this class is just to open up my own business because I feel like I can do that. I just need to be that one businessman that can change people life in so many ways by giving them jobs or just making sure they are taking care of. With what I learned in business simulation I can put it to use by opening up my own business even it is not a big business I want to open up something that I will put money in my pocket and also a business that will help me send to my family that living in Africa. They are depending on me so much so I feel like if I don’t have a business to support them let them down. That one of reason why I am taking business so I can just let my mother
This diversity can create problems and challenges in the team setting. Even teams that are considered homogeneous, (similar in many ways) difficulties may arise. In order for Christine’s groups to become efficient, synergy has to be created. Synergy “is the creation of a whole greater than the sum of its parts” (Mary Uhl-Bien, John R. Schermerhorn, jr, Richard N. Osborn). At times, simply being involved in a group can create what is known as social facilitation, this process can build an certain level of excitement, that can aid in stimulating progress towards proficient
The strength of our team was its group members .We made sure each of the team members shared our views and expectations of the Capsim journey. We also shared the knowledge we acquired from the practice rounds and what each of our strategies were, how did we perform and how each of us think we can do differently to get better results. We made sure we worked as a team and valued every team member’s ideas and suggestion’s. We had no major decision disputes between teammates because we believed in valuing every person’s ideas and helping each other learn along the process. We incorporated friendly debates about our chosen ideas to spark creative side of each individual. Our CEO did a great job is maintaining competitive harmony between our team members.

There is one person that I can recall that significantly taught me how to read more than anyone else and that person is my aunt, Jennie. Aunt Jennie was a first grade teacher at the time, so it was basically her job to teach kids how to read, and she took on the task of teaching me how to read too. She is an incredibly important figure in my life. She only lives 10 minutes or so away from me, so I would see her all the time, and thus it was fairly convenient for her to come over quickly and teach me after school. I was only 4 when she taught me how to read, and she taught me like I was another student in her first grade class, so I became very advanced for my age. It was extremely helpful for me to learn at an early age and I believe that one should learn as soon as they can, and when I have kids I’m going to teach them early.
During the presentation we just went too I learned a lot of new and important information. A few new pieces of information that is important and well help me in high school and if life are. A felony is crime that is so serious that you have 1 or more years of prison. That means it worse than misdemeanor and it usually involves violence or other serious crimes. Anything smaller than a felony is a crime. That doesn't get you a lot of jail time or you get an fine. Examples of crimes are underage drinking stealing and staying out past an curfew.
Before considering the weaknesses from the training session, it is important to highlight the strengths that I believed are focused around the meetings and the lack of conflict within the group. West (2004) strongly believes that “interaction and meetings are vital for team functioning...
Within the class of Business 105 we had several of the Bryan School of Business’ department heads come to and talk to our class about the different courses,
I also had the opportunity to work with 2 other teammates to come up with an awesome team building exercise that proved to be an awesome success.
My grades weren't the best during second semester of junior year, and I can emphasize that my head was spinning in circles. During that time one simply finds out what he can do to the people around him, but also what the people around him can do to him. But once the scars are left on someone, they can’t be cured. One can only do so much for himself to get back on his legs, but it’s never too late.
I excelled academically in high school. I was diligent about setting proper study habits for each class in order to handle my rigorous extracurriculars and my school work. The workload intensified throughout my time at UHS with my addition of more AP and Honors level courses; however, I learned time management skills, work ethic, and how to make better student-teacher connections to ensure that I always preformed to the best of my ability during the school year and beyond. Reflecting on my high school classes, I am confident that I put in my best efforts to ensure success.
Many businesses place an emphasis on the importance of teamwork. A good team consists of people with different skills, abilities and characters. A successful team is able to blend these differences together to enable the organisation to achieve its desired objectives.
