VARK Analysis Learning can be defined as the acquisition of knowledge through different means such as studying or through experience. There exist several ways of learning, and each individual is different in the way through which they learn best. Some of the ways of learning include visualizing, listening, read/write, and through kinesthetic (Nilson, 2010). Visualizing is whereby an individual learns best through diagrams used to represent information that would otherwise be represented through words. Such diagrams include graphs, maps, patterns, or hierarchies. Listening or aural learning, on the other hand, is whereby persons acquire information through listening. Such people are able to learn as a lecturer speaks or through group discussions. In turn, the read/write learning style is whereby an individual is able to acquire information through reading and writing. Finally, kinesthetic is whereby a person learns best through experience and practice such as experiments. The VARK analysis is used to determine which learning style a person gives preference to while learning (Ravenscroft, 2012). The VARK analysis consists of a series of questions structured to determine the …show more content…
These changes can also be adopted by my learning institution so as to encourage a conducive learning environment for persons preferring the read/write modality (Janiūnaitė, 2013). For instance, I learnt that I should continue laying focus on my hobby, which is reading and writing, as it helps me learn a lot. However, I should also consider utilizing the other learning modalities since they can also be helpful in my learning process. Nobody can change their learning habits in a day, but there is no harm in trying out new learning modalities. As a result, I should try paying attention to practical lessons since I also learn well using the kinesthetic
This tool states that learning is made up of four basic phases, which includes diverging, assimilating, converging, and accommodating, that gives one a better understanding of how they learn. The booklet claims that learning can be cyclical and four basic phases. These learning phases are described as a concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. The assessment asserts that knowing about your learning style can help you better understand how to maximize your learning, solve problems, work in teams, manage conflict, making career choices and how to improve

Learning styles is one of the ways schools have changed over the past couple of years in regards to diversity. The varieties of learning styles of students have become more aware to educators. There are three main learning styles; visual learning, kinesthetic learning, and auditory learning. Visual learners take up about half of student learners using textbooks, charts, course outlines, and graphs are useful instructional aides (Sadker, p. 47). Kinesthetic learning is also known as tactile learning. These students learn by hands on learning. Planning for student to have movement in class will help these learners. Our last learning style is the less of the three called auditory learning. These students learn best by hearing; they can remember the details of conversations and lectures and many have strong language skills (Sadker, p. 47). By providing a time for these students to recite the lesson themselves can support this form of learning. To be an effective teacher for all the learning style diversities means being able to be flexible and incorporate a variety of teaching techniques.
Did you find it easier to understand a thing by reading or hear it from someone else or do your understand better by looking at the picture ? Some people may find it even harder to read a map. Things may difficulty for some peoples but others learn, it is because everyone learns in different ways. How people interprets or understand the information depends on how their learning style. Learning style may vary depending on factor that influence . While learning style has been defined as the way people learn, or how one interprets information. The most common learning style is the Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, and Kinaesthetic. Most of us may have some idea of how we learn better, but often we surprise to find out what our predominant learning style. In 1987 Neil D. Fleming, an experienced educator developed the VARK learning style as an effort to help students learn better. VARK contains 16 question that help identify a person's learning style. For some students they may have a preference for one type of learning, but also
Teaching in the read/write learning style is improves the learning experience for others especially for this specific learning style. The read/write learning style is a very common and useful form of learning that is taught in an educational platform because of the nature of the learning style. Therefore, knowing how to tailor one’s lectures to meet the needs of the students with the read/write learning style is a refreshing and revitalizing method in providing the information to those who are in a position to learn and encourages the information taught to remain intact and new in their brain. Furthermore, being aware of one’s learning style allows the individual to receive the information to be understood competently. Awareness of your individual learning style can provide it’s advantages along with its disadvantages. The advantages of this awareness are that the individual knows how to receive the information in a way that is best suited for their abilities. This can allow the individual to be more in sync with what methods and tools are necessary to enhance the learning experience. Then, the disadvantage of being aware of the one’s learning style exists when the individual is consumed with the mentality that the only way to adequately learn new material is through their specific learning
For the past week or so, we have been learning about the different types of learning styles in our Avid class.A few of the learning styles include visual, auditory, kinesthetic, oral, group and individual. The visual learning style is where one finds and learns better through the process of visualizing. For example, if an assignment is being discussed and not written one will find it difficult and won't catch on a well as an auditory learner will.Auditory learners will find it easier to learn when listening to what's going on. Where as a kinesthetic learner will find it difficult to learn the subject if listening.Kinesthetic learners will get a better grasp of the material if handed a model or being able to come in contact with the concept. When
...ating technology provides students with opportunities to succeed in reading and writing. As an educator, and possibly a future literacy educator it is vital to teach students that learning is not something that only happens in school. Learning will happen every day for as long as one lives. Learning happens at school, at home, at a sporting event, at the mall, or on the computer. Learning happens everywhere. It is also important to teach students reading is everywhere and it will follow them the rest of their life. As educators, we need to help students enjoy reading and develop a love for it that will last forever. It is our role to therefore provide the best instruction possible and use assessment that allows children to succeed. Most importantly, as life long learners ourselves, we need to strive to make sure that our students become and stay life long learners.
The VARK model is one of the most common methods that people use to categorise learning styles. It was made by a man named Neil Fleming. The VARK model “expanded on the Neuro-linguistic programming models” (16). It was launched by Neil Fleming in 1987, after he finished his work and studies at Lincoln University. Before Neil Fleming, the VAK model was the most commonly used method to categorise learning styles. The VAK model doesn’t include Read/Write. The Read/Write learning style was created by Neil Fleming after he realised that it was best to split the Visual learning style into Symbolic (Visual), and Read/Write.
“Learning How to Learn” is a course that talks about how the mind works in learning, how basic behaviors such as sleep affect the efficiency of learning, and the effective strategies in learning a concept. The brain has two modes of learning: focus mode and diffuse mode. Focused mode is mainly what the brain concentrates for. For example, solving a math problem.
There are three types of learning styles. They are: auditory, visual and kinesthetic. An auditory learner processes information by hearing and discussing the information. Visual learners process information through visuals such as charts, pictures, and other types of printed information. Kinesthetic learners process information by muscle movements and experiences that are hands-on. Through the assessment I have discovered that my strongest learning style is a visual style with a score of 13, followed by kinesthetic, 8, and lastly auditory with a score of 4. Based upon this, my strength is using a visual learning style. The things I do now in studying that are within the guidelines include: read the book chapters and highlight while reading, pay special attention to charts and diagrams shown in the book or in class. By reading and highlighting I have found I can quickly go back through the information and reread the important facts, helping me remember them better. The more times I go over the information, the more effective I am come test day. I have found it very easy to read charts and diagrams in textbooks. Generally, by being able to read certain charts, it is much easier and faster to comprehend the information than if I was to read the paragraphs about it. A new study strategy that I will implement will include: writing what I highlight down into my own handwriting, adding ...
... for teachers to choose materials that will hook students and motivate them to engage in their own learning. Teachers should provide multiple learning opportunities in which stu¬dents can experience success and can begin to build confidence in their ability to read, write, and think at higher level. By connecting strategies for learning, such as searching, compre¬hending, interpreting, composing, and teaching content knowledge, students are given the opportunity to succeed in their education. These elements include: fundamental skills such as phonemic awareness, phonemic decoding, and other word analysis skills that support word reading accuracy; text reading fluency; strategies for building vocabulary; strategies for understanding and using the specific textual features that distinguish different genres; and self-regulated use of reading comprehension strategies.
The education process isn’t uniform, and there are many modalities by which this education can occur; some people learn better by reading, while other may prefer listening, or a demonstration. It is essential to assess learning style and preference, to ensure that the information
Four decades of psychological research have taught us there is no one right way to learn. Our minds are as unique as our fingerprints. Our ability to learn is not necessarily related to high or low intelligence quotients, but rather a convergence of four important aspects of our perso...

That is why there is many different learning styles to suit every person. There is three different types of learning styles categorized. The first learning style is auditory. Auditory is meant for individuals that enjoy asking questions, talking and listening, as well as like to read out loud. Visual learners are more interested in charts, graphs, neat surroundings, seeing rather than hearing, and are pictured to be timid as they read to themselves rather than out loud. Finally there is the kinesthetic learning style. Kinesthetic is to touch, to feel, and usually learn by doing.
Reading, the active learner is reading different king of materials such as book, journals, newspaper and so on. Through reading, the people acquire different knowledge and make its application in life.
