Things may difficulty for some peoples but others learn, it is because everyone learns in different ways. How people interprets or understand the information depends on how their learning style. Learning style may vary depending on factor that influence . While learning style has been defined as the way people learn, or how one interprets information. The most common learning style is the Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, and Kinaesthetic. Most of us may have some idea of how we learn better, but often we surprise to find out what our predominant learning style. In 1987 Neil D. Fleming, an experienced educator developed the VARK learning style as an effort to help students learn better. VARK contains 16 question that help identify a person's learning style. For some students they may have a preference for one type of learning, but also

As a learning provider it is essential that I have the ability to meet the requirements of someone who is deemed as a learner. Many of us know that people are different and receive information in several different ways. It is also ideal to become aware of what motivates a learner to understand the information which is being delivered to them in the classroom. As learning providers we cannot make the assumption that everybody learns in the same way because if that were the case we would soon find that the learners will only have the ability to remember certain parts of the information that they most relate to. This would result in the learners being unsuccessful in the class room. For example the VARK method from Neil Flemings (1987) theory, this shows that learners can take information in, in different ways.
And there is a four-type definition of learning styles: 1. Accommodators (CE/AE) 2. Divergers (CE/RO) 3. Assimilators (AC/RO) 4. Convergers (AC/AE)
Learning is defined as a permanent change in attitude or behaviour that occurs as a result of repeated experience (Sims & Sims, 1995). Understanding one’s learning style has many advantages as it can help one to identify the learning method or activities that can help to optimise the learning experience. It has been suggested that the importance of one’s learning style has been identified through studies and research on how one can maximise the potential for success and further learning development (Honey & Mumford, 2006). Learning styles are unique to each individual and are developed in childhood (Chase, 2001). We all have different personalities; therefore we all have preferred learning styles that suit us best. The way one learns depends on preference. Some learn by observing, listening and imitating others and draw conclusions from their experience. There are several factors that affect our learning style; for example, background, culture, religion and environment can have a major influence on one’s learning.
Recognition is the first of the cognitive structures that students learn. The definition of Recognition is, “the ability to identify a match or fit between two or more pieces of information.” (Garner, 2007) When students recognize a pattern, they become confident in their abilities. When the students achieve this confidence, it will drive them to conquer new knowledge. The difference between recognition and knowledge can be confusing to the students. Acquiring and being aware of your learning styles is beneficial to accurately processing information that could be used for intellectual growth. Furthermore, learning styles are a part of how humans function and receive information from their world, so not being properly informed about this concept could bloom confusion, dysfunction, and chaos in society. Each learning style has a different goal and approach in interpreting information based on each individual’s abilities and should be regarded as being such. There are many different aspects that influence the way in which you learn. Knowing the style in which you learn can greatly benefit you and others around you. During this assignment I have found out what learning styles affect me the most and the others that just did not help me at all. Whilst using these newfound methods of my personal learning style I have noticed a huge difference in my studying in the fact that I am learning more.
To determine the best way I learn, I carried out two different learning styles questionnaires online. One may find that they are not always categorised in a specific type rather they may have more than one learning preference. Firstly, the most commonly used Neil Fleming’s VARK model. Fleming believes that there are four different types of learner: Visual, Auditory, Reading/writing and Kinesthetic learners. The second model I tried out was Soloman-Felder Learning Styles and Strategies.
“A learning style is a way of learning and refers to the way that you learn new information” (2). Most people have one preferred learning style and perform to a lesser standard when learning in a different style than what they’re used to. Nowadays, children are told to take a quiz in school to determine what their preferred learning style is, but after a few years, not many of these children remember what their preferred learning style is, or even if they do, they don’t apply it to their learning.
Each person has his or her own style of learning. Learning styles include visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. In the questionnaire, I learned that I am very much a visual learner. This reflection will show what I have learned about my unique learning style and how understanding learning styles of the children I teach will be helpful as I become a teacher.

An aspect of my learning style that causes me concern is that I am a perfectionist. I spend a great deal of time on an assignment to ensure that I am completely satisfied with it. For instance, I have spent a lot of time thinking about this short memo that shouldn’t take any more than an hour to write. Since I strive to make an A in every class I take, I do not have a lot of free time for enjoyment. I need to learn how to be a functional perfectionist that can find the balance between doing a great job and not spending too much time on an assignment. Another aspect that causes me concern is my impatience to fully read an assignment. Our generation has become accustomed to abridged information so we no longer want to read an assignment fully. I prefer bullet points that contain all the requirements for a task. This will be a problem in 1201 since there is a major focus on attention to detail. The grading process in the class relies heavily on following very specific instructions. If I am going to be successful, I will need to read every assignment fully. One final

This can be attributed to everyone’s different multiple intelligences or learning styles. A persons learning style is the method though which they gain information about their environment. As a teacher, it is our responsibility to know these styles, so we can reach each of our students and use all of the necessary methods.
The test consists of 44 different questions with two available answers. Instead of focusing on just the four perceptual learning styles, this test also attempts to measure whether or not an individual is a sequential or global learner to give results that are even more specific. The overall results are broken down into active/reflective, sensual/intuitive, visual/verbal, and sequential/global (Soloman). While these results are similar to the VARK test, they are measured slightly differently so looking farther into what the results mean afterwards can be enlightening. This survey can be found at
