In my opinion I agree with Deborah Pendergast and believe that tweens are ready to have a cell phone. One reason is because it helps parents have a sense of security with knowing where their children are at all times. Secondly, it’s a great way to teach children responsibility. Lastly, it could be used as an educational tool.
Adoption, many of us know the basics of it. It means to adopt another child that is not biologically yours into your family. But many don’t realize what it really means to adopt a child into their family, and how this will affect not only them but the child as well. No matter why families or single parents chose adoption does not matter.Typically when people chose to adopt they think about the babies. But the real matter here is what happens to older kids? Many older kids who are deemed not as desirable as say a newborn through toddlers are left behind waiting for years at a time for a permanent family home in foster care. Before adopting, parent(s) should give more consideration on adopting older kids from the ages about six through eighteen.
While watching the short clip of Toddlers and Tiaras before being assigned this, it made me cringe just watching how a mother forced her daughter to have a cold, temporary spray tan for pre-pageant necessities. The controversy over beauty pageants for little girls and boys from ages 6 months to 16 years old has been increasing over the years. One side is saying yes they should participate because it builds confidence and the other side is saying no because it teaches them unrealistic standards of beauty. Toddlers should NOT participate in pageants because it shows girls unrealistic beauty standards, to imitate adults and unhealthy grooming habits.

First, safety is the biggest issue for parents. A kid having a cell phone can call home or emergency services when trouble arises. It also gives the parent the ability to locate their whereabouts with GPS features. Also, if kids are lost, hurt, scared, or witnessing an incident, the phone is there for them. Only 20% of American homes do not have a computer. Technology is quickly becoming a new way of life. The amount of time people are on their devices is growing rapidly. According to The Huffington Post, people are on their devices for on average about eleven hours and fifty-two minutes a day. That is almost half a day and a lot longer than most people sleep or work.
