Cell phones have changed teens and even adults. People text more than they talk to others face to face. Without texting and other technology, people would be more social. In today’s society many kids are walking around with cell phones. Seventy seven percent of kids ages twelve to seventeen have a cell phone. The main reasons why kids have cell phones are: safety, convenience, affordable, responsibility, and bonding through texting.
Firstly, cell phones are a useful object when needed in an emergency. When parents need to contact their kids, they have access to talk with them on their cell phones. Kids using cell phones and other tablets are becoming more and more distant from their parents, for the simple fact that the Kids are on the tablets/phones more often than they are with their parents, and as a child you need to bond with your parents and not a tablet/phone. When you’re in a life or death situation, then you can call your worried parents to tell them you’re alright. Also, your parents can use a tracker that was built into your phone to know where you are at all times. Also, when there’s a bully that bullies you around, you can call your parents to pick you up after school. Cell phones allow students to call for help.
Almost every teenager you see has a smart phone with them. Older people complain that children are always on there phone and don 't socialize. There are some people that are on their phones way to much but for the average teenager that is their primary way of connecting with friends. Kids can use smartphones to messages their friends to see what they are doing and if they want to hang out. Before phones became common in all kids you would have to go over to your friends house to see if they were even home. So phones make it easier to make plans with friend. One of the hardest things to do when i was younger was get a bunch of people together to play a game of football. It was hard because I usually didn 't have everyones cell phone number. Now with Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and Facebook you have many other ways of getting a hold of your friends. We all know that everyone hates those long never ending phone calls with grandma. I personally have grown up having a cell phone most my teenage years. At first not many people my age had cell phones. They were not color screens and couldn't take pictures or video. Currently my cell phone can do all of that plus surf the internet, send emails, play music and much more. Lets step back a minute and talk about when I first got a cell phone. I mainly used it to call my mother so she would know what I am doing and where I am at. Then more and more of my friends got cell phones and I was now able to get a hold of them no matter where they where. This was a huge benefit for me since most my friend and I all lived fairly busy lives and where hardly ever home.
