In the fable “The boy in the striped pajamas; by John Boyne. Bruno is both brave and a coward.
Bruno is brave in a way when he brought food to Shmuel. He also talked and played with Shmuel when he knew he wasn’t suppose too. Bruno knew the situation Shmuel was in and he felt bad for him. Shmuel was pale in the face and very hungry. “Shmuel looked as if he wasn’t really listening; instead his eyes were focused on the slices of chicken and stuffing that Bruno was throwing casually into his mouth. Bruno didn’t realize that Shmuel wanted some of the food at first’ (Boyne 2006).”After a moment Bruno realized what he was looking at and immediately felt guilty”. (Netflix 2008) If you have food and see someone on the side of the road that looks hungry you should give them some, they probably need it more than you do, it’s just showing courtesy. Bruno was also brave by going into the concentration camp with Shmuel to find Shmuels father. Bruno knew the risk he was taking by pretending to be a Jew and putting on the outfit that the Jews wore, but he did it anyway because he was Shmuels friend and I consider that very brave of Bruno. They didn’t know they were going into a Gas Chamber

but still Bruno and Shmuel set out to look for Shmuels father. ‘Bruno also sneaked Shmuel pieces of cheese, and bread.’(You tube clips 2008) Being brave isn’t something to be ashamed of its better than being and coward and not taking risks at all. Bruno was a coward in a way when he lied to the soldier about giving Shmuel food. ”What do you mean he’s your friend”. (Boyne2006). Do you know this boy Bruno? Bruno’s mouth dropped open and he tried to remember the way you used your mouth if you wanted to say ‘yes’. (Netflix 2008) Bruno lied about knowing Shmuel and about giving him the food, because of Bruno lying, Shmuel had gotten punished. “No I have never seen this boy in my life” (you tube clips 2008) One time I got my little brother to steal me some popsicles out of the refrigerator, after my mom said “no’, and he ended up getting caught and he told her that I was the one that told him to do it, when my mother confronted me about it, I lied and said that I didn’t tell him to steal the popsicles, so he got in trouble instead of me. Just like Bruno lied to the Lieutenant Kotler about giving food to Shmuel. The German Soldiers were cowards , when they had gotten caught they tried to run away and tried to lie and say that they were not a part of the killing of the Jews , because they were scared and didn’t want to go to jail. They were all big and bad during the killing of the Jews, but when they got caught they were cowards and lying about everything. Being a coward isn’t something to be proud of; you shouldn’t be a coward and not say anything if you think something I wrong. Being brave vs.
being a coward, I would rather be brave then be a coward like Bruno was when he lied to the soldier. ‘No I have never seen this boy in my life’. (Boyne 2008) If I see someone doing something that is not right then I’m going to do something about it, because I’m not a coward. Being a coward isn’t something to be proud of, because if you see someone doing something that isn’t right you’re just going to sit there and not do anything about it, because you’re a coward. Hitler was brave and still was a coward.’ Bruno offered Shmuel some food’. (Netflix 2008) Bruno was brave by giving Shmuel food, because being brave isn’t something to be ashamed of its better to be brave then a coward. “Shmuel had gotten beaten due to Bruno lying about giving Shmuel food”. (You tube clips
2008). Being brave isn’t something to be ashamed of. If you feel as if something isn’t right, there is nothing wrong with standing up saying or doing something about it, instead of being a coward and not saying nothing at all. My opinion of being brave is being strong and fearless. You’re standing up or doing something that takes courage to do. Being a coward is like being weak and scared and not doing or saying anything about an issue. You shouldn’t be a coward you should be brave. You shouldn’t let anyone or anything instill fear inside of you no matter what it is. You should be brave, face your fears and stand up for things you feel aren’t right. Being a coward won’t do you any good, not taking action in bad situations you feel aren’t right. Being brave is the right thing to do not just for yourself but for people around you
You can show courage in many different ways. Courage means when you are brave and even though your scared you still do it. In this case Mr.Frank and Peter do. Mr. frank shows it by being brave enough to go downstairs and risk getting caught just to catch the burglar. On the in the same way peter shows courage to. Peter shows courage because he goes out of the Annex to get things and he always risks getting caught to.
Courage is an act of sacrifice that allows you to face danger without showing fear. A time he showed courage was when he threw the first punch at the rumble between the Greasers and Socs. He threw the first punch for pride, he threw it for loyalty, but he was courageous while doing so. As Ponyboy stated on page 142, "... He was ashamed to be on our side..." It took a lot of courage to throw the first punch being on a side you were ashamed of being on. He was ashamed because the person he punched was what he could've been and that crushed Darry. It would take a lot of courage to look after two adolescent boys while they are growing up. Darry could've gone to college, become a national football player and have a better life than what he had. Darry instead sacrificed that to keep his brothers together after the death of their parents. If Sodapop and Ponyboy could stay together, Darry would've gone to college. Darry was incredibly courageous to give that up for his brothers.
Bravery is like a very trusted friend, it will never let you down. That statement holds true in the great epic of "Beowulf." "Beowulf" is the story of a great hero who comes to the aid of a troubled king. Beowulf hears that king Hrothgar is having trouble and immediately comes to help with no questions asked. he defeats the monster, Grendel, with his bare hands. Beowulf then defeats Grendel's mother along with a dragon until he is fatally injured. Bravery is a very admirable characteristic that few people possess.
“A person’s a person, no matter how small.” This lovely quote was spoken by a brilliant mind we all know today as the children’s book writer, Dr. Seuss. When someone mentions his name, we all immediately think, “Oh! The children's book writer!” but what we fail to recognize is that Seuss was shaping the minds of us and millions of other children to find the best in people, be a better person and to agree with equality.
One day when Shmuel gets sent to shine glasses at his house him and Bruno start talking. A soldier see them and Bruno told him he didn’t know who he was, and the soldier beats the boy, Bruno feels terrible and want to make it up to Shmuel. Bruno wants to understand why the life behind the fence is so awful and why Shmuel isn’t happy. Bruno thinks it’s not better, but interesting because there are other kids to play with. They form a strong bond that can't be broken by anything and it makes him realize that his friends in Berlin weren't as special as Shmuel is and their friendship. The two boys have been talking and have been friends for about a year and decide that Bruno wants to go on the other side of the fence to see what its like and help him find his papa.
But this isn’t the definition of courage. Courage is being able to act in the face of danger or in an uncomfortable state. Being stubborn and brash is the exact opposite, as someone acting as such may danger others and/or may be comfortable by standing alone. A prime example is shown in 12 Angry Men, as Juror 8 and Juror 3 represent courage and arrogance. At one time in the film, they both stand alone against a room full of people thinking against them, but how they act to it makes them who they are. Unlike how Juror 8 sways others individually, Juror 3 refused to act politely and focuses on himself, making others not appreciate him and seeing him as a barrier to
Q1: The argument suggests courage be defined based on, the actions of an individual and the situation they are placed in. Someone could be put into the same situation and act on the situation differently based on experience, knowledge, desperation, and the meaning of the action or situation to an individual.(192c1-3-192d7) Someone with more knowledge will act more accordingly to a difficult situation if they know what their chances are in succeeding in that action or the consequences attempting it. Courage is a representation of bravery. If someone stands up for something not only to benefit them but to
Bravery has a history that can be traced back to the first trace of humanity. Indeed, society depends on leaders that are brave. The word bravery itself lives within our everyday lives. There are times when we need leaders, courageous ones. At school, we need bravery in every classroom. Especially during the shooting of Sandy Hook, when six heroines dies to save their students. This was a time when intense bravery was needed to overcome evil. Teachers, how much will you sacrifice for your school? If an assailant shows up in your school, will you do the things that no others will do? Together, I believe, we could all be a little bit braver. If we become braver one by one, the world would be a much better place for everyone.
Bravery is where people have a lot of courage to maybe sacrifice something for someone. There has been a lot of bravery throughout the world, and many people do it differently. Also bravery can be someone who does it when others don’t expect it to happen. Like in the book The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, the spiders captured the dwarves and Bilbo saved them, and led the spiders away from the dwarves. Such as the quote” I shall draw the spiders off, if I can; and you must keep together and make it in the opposite direction “( Tolkien, 165). Bilbo shows bravery because he led the spiders away from the dwarves, so the spiders wouldn’t hurt them. Bravery is someone who steps up when no one else wants to, and does things for others rather than worry about
The vast majority of heroes in novels display courage frequently, making it a characteristic praised by many. Once a character demonstrates their cowardly nature, he becomes looked down upon. Those unlucky enough can be named weak, wimpy, chicken, and so forth; however many do not understand that both courage and timidness are intertwined. In the novel The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, the author indicates that courage can be driven by both fear and cowardice.
“There are so many ways to be brave in this world. Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else. Sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater.”
The option of volunteering to fight for freedom was placed before these young men. They didn’t have to come together and choose to fight. Courageous actions can happen by saying hello to someone. Saying hi to someone might be really hard. If talking to someone frightens you and you defy that fear, by definition you are courageous. Courage is also part of growing up. Going throughout life without facing challenges makes it hard to progress. Writing essays may be your fear. If you never face your fear of writing essays, you won’t learn to write them. Morals are also a factor in being courageous. Not swearing might be a challenge, but strong morals can make difficult choices easy. Courage comes from choices, and strong morals and standards can help you make good choices. Loyalty and respect are a few of moral values. The 2000 Stripling Warriors had moral values because they were loyal to their
Finding the courage to be brave is not always easy is explained and illustrated with examples of Salva being brave. “He was crying so hard he could hardly get his breath. He could not think, he could barely see. He had to slow down and for the first time on the long journey, he began to lag behind the group.” ( Park, 53) While Salva was walking through the Akobo Desert he got injured by stepping on a rock. Salva kept walking even when he could hardly breathe and he was falling behind, because he could have gotten lost and wouldn’t know where to go, and would have to travel alone. In addition, Salva shows
Many people confuse courage for not being scared of what could happen, Franklin D. Roosevelt once said that “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important that fear.” Courage isn’t being able to act like nothing will scare you or make life more difficult, it’s the ability to realize that something will be difficult or scary and you overcome the difficulty. Courage is the ability to overcome hardship, not avoid it or create more of it to make yourself seem more
First, a courageous act involves a great risk without any reward to be expected. It doesn’t have to be a life taking risks, but the action that may sacrifice something of yourself is a courageous action. Donating your organ to save someone
