Business Coaches are people who build, support and encourage you in the pursuit of your goals. Getting someone who works well with you is key to your success.
Should the Coach be Certified?
Certification in the coaching industry is relatively new but it lets you know that the coach has invested in their profession and underwent some rigorous study. However, I interact with coaches and have periodically hired coaches myself; I have discovered that a coaches abilities is determined by:
1. Their love for people and ability to interact and communicate with different personalities.
2. Their knowledge of business.
3. Their ability to release their ego.

She immediately proclaimed herself a "business coach", got certified and made a few people (and herself) miserable as she took on clients that had home based service businesses. (The dynamics of an online business and a service business are very different.)
Certification is good but your must look deeper.
Are you Ready?
You may have decided that you need the one on one support and accountability of a business coach, but are you ready to work? Hiring a business coach doesn't mean that now you'll find the time to do the work. You have to make a decision to put forth the time and effort. I've had mom entrepreneurs who paid me months in advanced thinking that the money would be their motivation, only to realize that they committed to make the payment but didn't commit to putting forth the energy. Your coach will be your support, your resource, your partner, your cheerleader, your consultant. But she will not do the work for you.
You must commit to yourself before committing to a business coach.
So When you Select a Business Coach you Should Look

Someone who understands your circumstances. I'm a mom of 5. I understand the challenges of mothers; we can have the best intentions and yet one sick child can slow us down for a week. My coach, an older gentleman with no children, couldn't understand why I wasn't able to accomplish the 20 goals a week that I would set for myself. If I had a business coach who was also a mom she wouldn't have allowed me to set that many goals. And she would have remained patient during the challenging weeks. If you have a small business, home-base business, children, illness, or other circumstances find a coach who understands but does not allow you to use it as an
Coaching is an integral part of helping achieve one’s maximum abilities. Dr. Gawande (2013) explains that, “Coaches are not teachers, but they teach. They’re not your boss—in professional tennis, golf, and skating, the athlete hires and fires the coach—but they can be bossy” (p. 3). It is difficult to say what is the exact function of a coach, however, they help bring forth another point of view different from our own and they also help bring about the right mindset in order to subdue a weakness.
Finding time to coach can be an issue. The last thing you need is for the coachee to be pulled away from the coaching session to go and look at another issue elsewhere within the company. Time can always be found through good planning and time management, remember a coached person offers more to the company. Once a time is agreed both parties need to commit to it!
However, this is not really a direct correlation to the coach’s effectiveness in a particular sport, being that there are many other factors in coaching a team other than game records. The coach’s job is to enhance the athlete physically, socially, and psychologically, winning is only considered a by-product of that job (Gillham, Burton, & Gillham, 2013). Gillham, Burton, and Gillham (2013) focused on developing a Coaching Success Questionnaire-2 to allow a means of evaluating other aspects of a coach’s interaction with their athletes as both a research and coach development tool. A sample group of athletes at the varsity and club level ranging from ages 18 to 25 was used to develop the questionnaire by asking their perceptions of their coaches.
Coaches should have an arrangement of fundamental abilities that they depend on to produce a positive outcome. Definition of a coach from the American Heritage Dictionary, Third Edition (page 167) One who trains or directs an individual or team, to train or instruct teach a team. The goal behind coaching is to exhibit the ability to get the most out of everyone on the team. It should be a goal to bring out the greatest potential from every team member. It’s insane how many players do not even know their true potential. Successful coaches assess these individuals and the team to advance them to the next level of sports. "The Little Book of Coaching, Motivating People to be Winners" by Ken Blanchard and Don Shula (2001) gives a great acronym of the word C-O-A-C-H. The acronym breaks down as follows: Conviction Driven: never compromise your beliefs-Overlearning: practice until it is perfect-Audible-Ready: know when to change-Consistency: respond predictably to performance-Honesty-Based: walk your talk. This acronym should remind you of your job as a coach. A good coach
Different coaches offer different trainings and quality of services. According to the author, the best way to choose a coach is by getting a recommendation from an individual that you respect. Interview the previous customer that the coach you have in mind had. This would aid analyzing the value that you need. Due to the fact that many coaches have websites, you are expected to evaluate the coach’s training level and experience that you will desire your coach to have.

Every team needs guidance from a coach, hence the need for a coach who possess strong, heart-filled
Coaching, however challenging, is a great way to influence the lives of others while also building their character. For as long as there have been sports, there have been people teaching the sport to the players and making them better at it. Coaches must have certain qualities in order to obtain success. One must also look at a coach’s motivation for his job, his passion for what he does, his methods for coaching, and how he became a coach in order to fully understand him. There are many questions someone may want to ask a coach about his profession if they are interested in coaching.
“A coach is someone who is equipped to aid individuals or groups and organisations to maximise their performance in pursuit of their desired goals.” (Dexter et al, (2011) p.4)

In today’s society being a coach can be extremely complicated especially compared to earlier years. Coaching requires not only many technical and personal skills but also has to include positive psychology that will affect all athletes regardless of gender, age, and race. After reading various articles this leads me to the question, what is a coach? How do coaches differ from one another? In addition are we forgetting the importance of not only coaching but the sports psychology aspect of coaching overall? Regardless of what you may have read or heard I believe not only do all coaches have their own coaching style but every coaching technique and style is different. Coaching styles and positive psychology are two techniques that can provide
The coach has to act and support the client’s decision. Because my coaching peer was an experienced professional coach, I learned where I was hitting the mark and where I needed improvement. The experience in this assignment was enriching because it was actionable as I was actually able to demonstrate coaching and discover areas where I was strong and internalize and reflect on those areas, after personal critique, where I needed improvement. This assignment further contributed to the importance of cultural understanding pockets we have in the United States as well as my continued and personal growth as a global leader in
Becoming a coach has different ways. It can take some college, often teachers must teach in a field that matches their bachelor’s degree. Now there are coaches that teach as well or athletic coordinators. Athletic coordinators are coaches that deal with just sports and do not teach. Those have to go through a different process that regular coaches. For becoming a coach some have to know some health levels. With being a coach , athletes often get hurt and need to know how to properly take care of it. Sometimes when wanting to coach a specific sport you may have to have some background with that sport. Why would they just throw someone to teach kids something when the coach doesn 't know what he is talking about. It better to have a coach with experience to pass good skills to
A few years ago, a friend approached me about partnering with her in the purchase of a day spa. I had always wanted the freedom and satisfaction that comes with being my own boss. After deciding to move forward with my partner and buy a day spa, I learned to put together a business plan, personnel criteria, and marketing plan.
The word coach in a dictionary means a process that enables learning and development to occur and thus performance to improve. This means, being successful requires a knowledge and understanding of the process as well as the variety of styles, skills, and techniques that are appropriate to the context in which the coaching takes place. Next is mentoring, which means off-line help by one person to another in making significant transitions in knowledge, work or thinking. Both are very efficient whenever you’re dealing with student-athletes. However, mentoring, particularly in its traditional sense, enables an individual to follow in the path of an older and wiser colleague who can pass on knowledge, experience and open doors to otherwise out-of-reach opportunities. Coaching, on the other hand, is not generally performed on the basis that the coach has direct experience of their client’s formal occupational role unless the coaching is specific and skills focused. Given that shows there are professionals offering their services under the name of mentoring who have no direct experience of their clients’ roles and others offering services under the name of coaching who do. In other words, it is essential to determine what needs are productive, and to ensure that the coach or mentor can supply their student-athletes with the level of service that is required; whatever that service is
