This makes the individual attain their desires and aspirations. I suppose that Christian coaching refers to the art of working with individuals by moving them from where they are currently to the position that God intends them to be at. I guess many individuals are in need of a Christian coach because of desire to expand their vision of their future, encourage their spiritual journey, and to gain confidence while facing life. I support the author’s position that coaching has a great difference from counseling. By counseling, one must be going through certain difficult moment or challenges, which has a negative impact on the individual's psychology. On the other hand, I understand that Christian coaching is voluntarily because one desires to leave the action they had been doing or the position they had been in life, and needs to be transformed to God’s desire. The book sufficiently shows what makes an individual to be a good coach, what their skills should look like and how a coaching relationship is set up. However, despite the fact that the author states that coaching is uprising and that it does not show any signs of slowing down, the number of Christian coaches appears to be low and far between (Collins,

As I have asserted, coaching is far more than winning or losing. A coach is an essential cog in shaping qualities such as sportsmanship, competitiveness, self discipline, and work ethic. A quality coach can build a player up while a bad coach can tear them down. My goal as a coach was to always leave the player striving to be the best they could be. A good coach

Bryant and Brunson have done a terrific job of assessing the pastoral ministry and giving sound advice, to the young or prospective pastor. The present author believes that this book should be standard in every pastor’s library. “God promises to be with his servants as they follow” (Bryant and Brunson 2007, 16) The apostle Paul gave three rules to keep the pastor on the track of a good reward: “Fight the Good Fight; Finish the Race; and Keep the Faith.” (Bryant and Brunson 2007, 240-242) The greatest joy for a pastor is to, “Finish well.”

Coaching, however challenging, is a great way to influence the lives of others while also building their character. For as long as there have been sports, there have been people teaching the sport to the players and making them better at it. Coaches must have certain qualities in order to obtain success. One must also look at a coach’s motivation for his job, his passion for what he does, his methods for coaching, and how he became a coach in order to fully understand him. There are many questions someone may want to ask a coach about his profession if they are interested in coaching. Some questions would include: Why did he choose this as a profession? How did he get into coaching? What does one have to do to get a job as a coach? How does a coach become successful? I aim to answer all of these questions and more in my paper.
“A coach is someone who is equipped to aid individuals or groups and organisations to maximise their performance in pursuit of their desired goals.” (Dexter et al, (2011) p.4)
...n. Whether I am coaching at a Christian school or not, I hope to make this one of my main priorities. I think this is important because basketball isn’t life all that’s important. It’s more important that I teach about God than basketball. Basketball doesn’t make you who you are, but a life with Christ does.

Personal Philosophy This course has enlightened my view as to what is meant to be a Christian Coach. Believing God has called me to shepherd his people, now require me to make modifications in the coaching methods I use to coach God people. McGervey and Cosby (2011) shared in their book Coaching Based Ministry that what we are accustomed to when it relates to coaching is what is seen in the field of sports. According to McGervey and Cosby, sport coaching focuses on the coach telling the athlete or team what to do, but the Christian coach empowers the client in a way that the client motivates themselves to change.
In today’s society being a coach can be extremely complicated especially compared to earlier years. Coaching requires not only many technical and personal skills but also has to include positive psychology that will affect all athletes regardless of gender, age, and race. After reading various articles this leads me to the question, what is a coach? How do coaches differ from one another? In addition are we forgetting the importance of not only coaching but the sports psychology aspect of coaching overall? Regardless of what you may have read or heard I believe not only do all coaches have their own coaching style but every coaching technique and style is different. Coaching styles and positive psychology are two techniques that can provide
The coach has to act and support the client’s decision. Because my coaching peer was an experienced professional coach, I learned where I was hitting the mark and where I needed improvement. The experience in this assignment was enriching because it was actionable as I was actually able to demonstrate coaching and discover areas where I was strong and internalize and reflect on those areas, after personal critique, where I needed improvement. This assignment further contributed to the importance of cultural understanding pockets we have in the United States as well as my continued and personal growth as a global leader in
I wanted to start telling the story of our experience by sharing the feelings I brought into this exercise. A few years ago I underwent an experience of coaching through several sessions that left me this taste in the mouth that the coaching as a tool to develop others is not very effective. I have not taken the time to deeply analyze what went wrong but in general if I had to choose to do it again I think I would choose another methodology to foster change. Its objective in general is to assist in building behavioral skills, but in my opinion to really look for a long lasting change you need to give a deeper understanding to the lack of a certain skills, strongly reflect on the variables linked to it as could be the emotions, values and motivations that conduce you towards a behavior different that that one desired. Personally, I enjoy seeking information that allows me to jump beyond the facts, and staying on the behavioral side of the reality limits my passion for inspiration and insight.
The author has initially likened the term coaching to a sports team. In this context, the coach attempts to inspire the team to win games. Sport coaches help players realize their potential and motivate them to perform through discipline and teaching them relevant skills, techniques, and tactics. This is usually achieved through mutual communication and the fostering of meaningful relationships with the team members.
