Information seeking requires an individual to possess researching knowledge and the ability to find meaning from the information researched. Information seeking competency necessitates an individual to be observant and open-minded.

Like Klinger, Hitchcock agreed that in a managerial role is essential and performs a vital function, leadership must come first to make managing more effective. If management is efficiency in climbing the ladder, then it is leadership that determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall. To help individuals, teams and organizations to navigate the permanent white-water environment safely, Hitchcock (2013) suggested that there are three constants that provide stability in times of great uncertainty such as a change, a choice, and principles. Communication is one of the most important skills a supervisor has. A good supervisor is able to give direction, motivate, and persuade their staff in order to maintain a good working relationship that will reap positive results. A large part of all three of these skills is the ability to listen and absorb the ideas of others (Rue & Byars, 2004). Good communication is give-and-take, or a two-way activity.
Why now? Why are we focusing on transformational leadership? Healthcare costs are continuing to rise. Some of the critical problems and active debates prevalent in many hospital organizations include the rapidly intensifying healthcare costs, funding and reimbursement cutbacks, and concern regarding the overall quality and safety of health care. “Healthcare systems have come under pressure to improve performance and manage productivity” (Botting, 2011). To be successful in the 21st century, there is a demand on healthcare systems to have a vision and executive and clinical leadership to inspire the change process and make the difference between success and failure in change.
According to Business Dictionary.com, leadership is defined as the individuals who are the leaders in an organization, regarded collectively. It also can be define as the activity of leading a group of people or an organization or the ability to do this. Leadership involves the establishing of a clear vision, sharing the vision with other so that they will follow willingly, providing the needed information, knowledge, and methods to realize the vision and coordinating and balancing the conflicts interests of all members and stakeholders.
There are many indispensable concepts in organizational behavior which provoke and challenge managers to self-reflect and broaden their management perspective. The three most significant concepts I learned in this course were: the importance of communication, why people resist change, and the need for transformational leadership. While all of the concepts learned in this course are useful, these three concepts are notable because I can relate to them personally. These items have both contributed to, as well as hindered my career success.
A manager’s leadership style must influence staff and others to take them seriously. A manager sets the tempo for the employees’ work ethic. Effective leadership from healthcare managers is important to the modern healthcare reform (Kumar, 2013). Leadership engagement in healthcare explains how a problem could affect a healthcare organization. Managers that hold leadership roles must adopt a certain style that can be functional for his or her initial organization to be successful. Performance improvement can be a very serious aspect of leadership engagement (Croxton, 2011). Healthcare managers need to have people from all areas involved to work effectively. Without the consistency of getting all staff and physicians involved, the organization may suffer greatly.
Molecular and Microbiology. Many people hear the major and shudder; thoughts of sleepless nights, studying for courses unintelligible by the ‘average’ person, mad scientists hunched over test tubes and doctors doing open heart surgery. Research science and medicine, that’s what my major is geared towards, and I’m pursuing the medicine side of it all. Maybe I’ll be that open heart surgeon that comes to mind, or maybe just a family practitioner, either way, I want more than anything to be a doctor, a great doctor, and while my M&M degree is the first step in making that happen, I’d have to say that being a Lead Scholar is the second. Many people may not see the medical profession as one that requires being a leader to others, as you make your own decisions and people feel that you work on your own. You consult patients, help them with their problems, you work on each one on your own. If there is any involvement with any other health professional, people think it’s more like a team, with little to no individual leadership. They’re wrong, and right. Being a doctor is being a part of a team, and being a part of a team¬ does take personal leadership.
There are two camps of thought regarding leadership. Some people say leaders are born while others say leaders are made. To delve deeply into who is wrong or right in this debate does not change the fact that leaders are necessary in the healthcare industry. Kim and Thompson (2012) reported, “Clinical, financial, and operational performance is increasingly being linked to the leadership practices of hospital managers” (p. 114). Given the impact leadership has on the success of the organization, it is prudent for a facility to recruit, develop, and retain great leaders.
Communication is the process of transmitting information and meaning. It is important for managers to develop their communication skills, because it is one major skills needed by managers. The management roles, which are interpersonal, informational, and decisional and the management functions, which are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling all require communication.
The one course I find the hardest to demonstrate mastery in will be the Leadership and Ethics in Healthcare. I say this because the only experience I’ve had thus far is the position I held as Office Administration in the Medical Supply Business. I haven’t had the expertise in acute care, physician office or a long-term care facility. Even though most of the concepts in leadership and ethics I have mastered in the retail industry but I’ll have to figure on applying these principles to the health care industry

The following interview report is intended primarily for exploration and comparison of the traits and characteristics of leadership. A leader of a clinical medicine centre was interviewed for this report. The purpose of this report is to explore the leadership characters and traits, and how they can be developed in this turbulent environment. First, I make a brief introduction regarding the background of the respondent and her working environment. The report also describes this leader's personal and subjective perceptions in relation to a literature review which investigates the traits and characteristics of leadership. The report concludes with a comparison and discussion of the results of the clinical condition on the basis of the interview and literature review. At the same time, the report aims to put forward feasible and effective advice and specific programs for present and future leaders and managers in the health care system.
In order to be a good manager or leader you must have good communication skills. Communication is everything when trying to accomplish many things; including teaching and guiding people within the workplace. In order to lead and build a progressing team of employees or successful group a manager or leader must be able to listen to their trainees needs, pay attention to what they excel in and what they may need improvement in. Building a game plan of how to help them succeed in areas that need improvement is a step in being a good and active leader.

Being prepared and organized are very important when speaking to a group of people. Helping a person to understand what you are trying to say will be a much more effective way to get your point across. While understanding what another person is attempting to communicate is another major factor to avoiding conflict and maintaining a successful relationship.
