In order to be a good manager or leader you must have good communication skills. Communication is everything when trying to accomplish many things; including teaching and guiding people within the workplace. In order to lead and build a progressing team of employees or successful group a manager or leader must be able to listen to their trainees needs, pay attention to what they excel in and what they may need improvement in. Building a game plan of how to help them succeed in areas that need improvement is a step in being a good and active leader.

As a primarily introverted person, I shy away from extraversion which can deter my people and communication skills. While I do not lack interpersonal and social (people) skills, these areas to consider for improvement. To be an effective leader, one must be able to communicate well within small and large groups. An effective leader must have effective social judgement skills. To become a truly effective leader, one must encapsulate the various behaviors related to the aforementioned course learnings in his/her persona and demonstrate such behaviors daily. This course has allowed me to identify four behaviors that all leaders must portray to be effective. The first of which is that a leader must be inspirational. To do so, a leader must set the appropriate vision and direction for the organization and provide a path to achieving defined goals. Additionally, a leader must induce the proper levels of motivation so that each employee has sufficient incentive to work towards the organization’s goals. As discussed in the class, motivation can be accomplished by factors such as rewarding hard work and providing the correct opportunities to employees. While these are motivating in that employees desire to be fairly compensated and to be doing work they deem valuable, inspiration comes more from organizational culture. A leader will be inspirational by setting a tone that appreciates each employee’s contribution, no matter how small in scale it is. Further, employees are inspired when they work collaboratively in a group setting and can capitalize on individual strengths to drive organizational goals.
A manager needs to be in constant communication with his staff. The lack of communication can lead to misunderstandings and dissatisfied employees. “Communication is the single most important skill of any manager.” (About.com) I believe this is statement from about.com is absolutely right. In order to lead, a leader must communicate his orders to his followers.
Effective leaders understand the importance of strong communication skills. It is imperative for employees to understand the vision of the department or the company, and how they are accountable to the goals, which must be communicated by leadership. It is equally important that leaders ensure the accuracy of the communication they are providing. Leaders must also take into account how their employees receive information and the quality of the message they are sending.
“Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes.”- Peter Drucker (1909). What makes a true leader? What does a leader have to contribute to the team in order to receive high productivity from the team? Are there specific characteristics that would evident to indicate what an efficient leader would project? All of these question relate to one specific term, individual attributes. In an organization, individual attributes are considered in incentive to the hiring manager. Certain contributions, like individual attributes, the hiring manager discreetly finds as a competitive edge and usually hires the applicant who possess this advantage. How does one conform the competitive edge
A good leader must be articulate, in order to reach all the different types of people in the group. Someone who can speak well can convince all the people of the group to do as you wish. One who speaks well can impose their thoughts on the group. Also, someone who does not speak well is less likely to be listened to than someone that does speak well. One who speaks well will benefit the group the most.
Good leadership requires treating employees with great respect and care. The better the respect and caring for the employee, the better the outcome. I believe you should treat employees as if they are very important and valuable and you will cause them to feel and become this way. They will then treat their work, customers, peers and management this way. It helps employees trust you which help them voluntarily follow your lead. I feel managers should be willing to coach people when necessary to raise them to a higher standard. I’ve witnessed good leaders at my job give great instructions and guidance and made employees feel comfortable enough to come to them for any type of question or concern. You should always be ready to provide direction when needed to ensure that everyone is on the same page. A good leader...
of productivity, employee disengagement, and poor problem-solving opportunities. Managers are the liaison between the organization and their employees. They are tasked with effectively communicating the goals and objectives of the company to their respective teams. Given the magnitude of that responsibility, it’s imperative that organizations provide their leaders with the proper training and tools to successfully complete such a daunting task effectively.
...r staff and colleagues and not only give orders. This involves giving feedbacks, constructive and positive. Constructive feedback guides the employee in the right direction or path. Positive feedback praises and encourages the employee when they complete a task well. Above all we have seen the importance of interpersonal communication in the form of one-to-one basis. This serves as a greatest opportunity for an effective two way dialogue or discussion. All these characteristic allow open and free flow communication which results in employee engagement and critical thinking among them. Another important aspect of a good leadership communication is that they think about the message from the team’s perspective. Above all, good listening is a major attribute of good leadership communication. These are some of the important traits of a good leadership communication.
“Transformational leaders focus on followers, motivating them to high levels of performance, and in the process, help followers develop their own leadership potential” (Ronald, 2009). There are several key component of the transformational styles: Idealized Influence, Inspirational motivation and Intellectual stimulation. There are more key components but for me the ones that I mentioned are the most important. A leader who idealized influence is the one that serves as an ideal role model for followers, the one who does the right thing and influence his followers. Inspirational motivation
In order to be a good leader, one must have self-confidence, communication skills, charisma and integrity. These are the fundamental skills that make a good leader. Self-confidence is the attitude that one possesses in which one is not afraid to make decisions based on their ideas. Communication skills allow a leader to convey his or her ideas or thoughts carefully. Charisma is what makes a leader appealing to the public, and integrity is what allows the public to trust and have faith in the leader. Without these skills, a leader would just be mediocre, and not great.
Communication is a very important aspect in leadership. It involves the ability of managers and other leaders in an organization to engage employees through effective listening and understanding of any issues that may be making it difficult for them to realize their full potential. The need for good communication capabilities in the workplace is to make sure that leaders give employees enough time to air their opinions before any binding directions are made. It is always necessary for leaders to remain mindful of the manner in wh...
As we view some of the bigger challenges that we face as a leader we need to evaluate how we are going to accomplish the mission. Will a small win actually get us were we need to be or should we engage in a large task challenging new methods of application as we progress. The authors note the importance of proceeding by taking incremental steps to capture that vision, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). Developing set ideas in which to build on in order to achieve the final vision. I believe that this method would be far more practical regrading large projects. Through our past research we viewed this application with the automotive industry, (Tichy, 1997). In order to change things and create new enthusiasm regarding their products they needed

In leadership, that can mean being on various committees, boards, and participate in associations. It takes a great leader to accomplish much. It takes even greater dedication to have success.
