The story behind these amazing toys is interesting! The Lego goes way back to the great depression too! These bricks are cool to play with! The Lego is a plastic building brick. It was made by Ole Kirk Christiansen in Denmark. The first Legos were actually plastic but had to go back to wood because, the people did not like them. But lets start at the beginning, Ole Kirk first started making wooden furniture. But one day, the workshop caught fire. Determined to continue on, Ole Kirk Christiansen wasn’t going to give up yet, so he built a new shop and worked on expanding his productions. When the Great Depression hit, he lost many customers, so he had to work on smaller items. These items included miniature models of stepladders and ironing boards, and this, inspired him to make toys. In 1932, Ole Kirk’s shop started to produce wood toys like wooden pull toys, piggy banks, pull toys, cars and trucks, and houses. At first, he didn’t make too much money since it was during the Great Depression. Did you know that farmers traded food for some of his toys? He also made yo-yos, which was a big fad until it became un-popular. Instead of getting rid of the leftover yo-yos, he used them for wheels for cars and trucks. Later on his son Godtfred started to work for him. In 1934, Ole Kirk held a contest for his staff to decide the name of the company, and offered a bottle of homemade wine as a prize for the winner. Ole Kirk Christiansen thought of two names himself, "Legio" meaning "Legion of toys" and "Lego", a word from the Danish phrase “leg godt”, which means "play well." For me doing SECME related things such as Vex, Vex IQ, seaperch, first lego league, ten 80, 4H, and NSBE are fun. For me they are fun because they allow me to be able to do things with my friends, be creative, and allow me to be able to experience engineering opportunities. Of all the SECME things though my favorite things are seaperch and first lego league. They allows me to stimulate my imagination and figure out what pieces go together.
Knudstorp changed everything upon his arrival. He completely reworked the supply chain; he reached out to his top retailers, and rearranged things to cut costs substantially. He saw that innovation was what Lego lacked and realized the importance of unconstrained creativity. This is when Legos product design changed; Knudstorp started to really look into market research, and placed a greater emphasis on user feedback (Starvish). He made big impressions with massive changes; he started with his management team and ended up firing five of his seven manufacturing executives (Stavish). From there, he started anew and made sure his managers were on the same page with regards to the vision he desired for the growth and future of Lego.
The Lego movie is the story of a simpleton turned knight-in-shining-armor and co on their journey to the top as they brave life on the run from a benevolent dictator in order to foil his devious plot to freeze the world in his image for all eternity. To make matters worse, pretty much each and every citizen is completely oblivious to the full extent of the chaos that is ensuing. At first glance, life seems all but perfect, but in reality, this could not be further from the truth. Even if this is as obvious as the sky is blue, Lord Fussiness has managed to keep resistance at bay through means of manipulating the minds of his citizens into believing a false sense of safety and freedom under his every watch.
Barbie was created by Ruth Handler, whose husband co-founded Mattel, the world's largest toy company. She noticed a gap in the market as she saw her daughter, Barbra, playing with adult paper dolls. At the time, the market for young girls was focused on baby dolls, but Barbra and her friends preferred to play with a grown-up version, dressing them up in outfits and pretending they were the grown up women they were playing with. Ruth then thought to create a 3- dimensional fashion doll that she would name Barbie after her daughter, Barbra. When presenting the idea to executives at Mattel, she was shot down, being told that they were too expensive to make for the amount of detail Ruth ...
For the construction of the robot, only the Lego pieces and sensors provided in the tackle box were used. The design of the robot was modified from the original versions however, with the following specifications. The wheels were positioned in the front part of the robot, thus changing the axis of rotation to the front of the robot when it turned. Instead of the conventional four wheel design, the two rear wheels were replaced with a single pivoting wheel, thus reducing the resistance when turning. Finally, an ultrasonic sensor and sound sensor were mounted at the front of the robot as shown in Figure 2.
Toy World, Inc is a manufacturer of plastic toys for children, founded in 1973 by David Dunton. In the past, the company's production schedules had always been highly seasonal, reflecting the seasonality of sales. Jack McClintock, president and part owner of this company, is considering a proposal to adopt level monthly production for the coming year.
Barbie is a fashion doll manufactured by the American toy-company Mattel, Inc. and launched in March 1959. American businesswoman Ruth Handler is credited with the creation of the doll using a German doll called Bild Lilli as her inspiration.
In conclusion, I feel that Toy Story is a much more advanced film when compared to some of Disney’s other animated films. Apart from the obvious technological advances made in animation technology, it also appeals on a much deeper level. The camera angles and techniques used help to add to the “realism” of the film but still give it an edge of the unreal. The way it appeals on all levels to both adults and children is helped by the fact that there is no clean-cut good and evil and even the good characters aren’t perfect. This is something that Toy Story has over even its followers such as “A Bug’s Life”.
A Rube Goldberg machine is witty. People like seeing how parts just fit together, how a chain reaction of small parts can do something none of them, except perhaps the last, could do alone. It is fun to watch something just work, and that is part of the charm of a Rube Goldberg.

What is a toy? Children have played with toys for centuries. Each time period has its own toy(s) specific and known for in that time period. Toys can be expensive for families who do not have a high income or for people who have multiple children. To solve this complication John Spilsbury invented the first homemade project. According to Tim Lambert “He created a jigsaw puzzle by cutting out sections of the map he intended to teach geography to people but many people would go on and use jigsaw puzzles as a form of entertainment.” Spilsbury lead the way to a future where many toys will be created by people and everyday objects that they have around them. For this project the activity created was the making of Playdough.
To begin I will tell the history of Lego. Master carpenter Ole Kirk Kristiansen opens the doors of his business in 1932, in the village of Billund, Denmark. He made stepladders, ironing boards, stools and wooden toys. His son, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, started to work in the business at the age of 12. In 1934, Ole Kirk Kristiansen Company and his products now adopt the name LEGO, formed from the Danish words "LEg GOdt" ("play well"). After some time, they realized that in Latin the word "LEg GOdt" means, "I put together". At this time, the company also has 6-7 employees. In 1935, the business creates its first LEGO wooden duck and markets “Kirk´s Sand game” first construction toy. In 1936, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen takes Ole Kirk 's motto
