In a world where students are often told to get the grade, memorize the answer, and have a surplus of technical abilities, it is extremely essential that they remember what soft skills are and why they are needed. Students need to remember that school is meant to prepare them for college along with a career. The issue in all of this arises when employers complain about the lack of soft skills that new employees are bringing into companies. The bigger issue being why were these students given diplomas as well as degrees, if they did not have what it takes to be in the work industry? Soft skills need to be better incorporated in learning curriculums, leading to higher college and career success rates.
The term soft skills holds an array of different skills such as: communication, conflict solving, teamwork, etc… . But life is not a series of MCQs and nor is the workplace. Students need to understand that there are a lot more than four possible choices in life and that each has implications. Graduates need to have leadership skills, yet demonstrate they can also work collaboratively. Skills given above are what students should develop and invest during the process of studying for a degree. Obviously, these skills called transferable skills are both relevant to employment and study. 'These skills are interpersonal as well as intellectual, and include the skill to learn from experience as well as reading, the ability to manage yourself, basic skills in numeracy, literacy and IT, interpersonal group-working and communication skills in analyzing and solving problems' (Cameron, 2008:19). So whether students could gain transferable skills in the university has become a major factor of developing a career after their graduation.
As I have noted, I truly believe that the numerous job skills that are needed to be successful include dedication, communication, and adaptation. First of all, you must be devoted to your career if you want exemplary results. Equally important, being able to articulate your ideas, and intellectually communicate said ideas will ensure a successful time at you occupation. Last but not least, in order to be successful in your employment, you must be flexible to the obstacles that are inevitable. I urge you to strive to obtain these essential job skills because they are worthwhile.

With the list of soft skill, all these soft skill go with one another they all work together. Like credibility goes well with respect and professionalism, have a good communication with a helpful attitude goes well together, because if you have a smile on your face then your customers would be happy to have a technician working and understanding what is going with your computer. With all of those soft skill go hand-to-hand with one another, and that is the reason why why technicians should have these soft skill in the working with other people or talking with other people.
Every career requires specific soft skills in order to consider pursuing degree in that specific field. As a psychology major, some of the soft skills I need are Communication, Time management and Critical thinking. It’s very important for me to be fascinated with what I do in order to help others. Employers are looking for people with a combination of skills such as soft skills, customer service skills and life skills. Not having sufficient employability skill sets, is one of the main reason for many students not getting selected in campus drives. Focus is more on technical knowledge than soft skills in their curriculum. During the course of their education , required level of importance is not given to key qualities like effective communication, leadership qualities, time management skills, self motivation, problem solving skills and creative thinking.
