This paper explores the significance of soft skills in learners’ life; their achievements in terms of academic excellence and professional success. No doubt academic or technical knowledge, generally termed as hard skills, are prerequisites for employment. Yet soft skills, which comprise a long list of interpersonal skills and individual abilities, complement the academic knowledge and thus contribute greatly to enhance the employability of the students. This paper makes an earnest appeal to all those involved actively in the policy making, curricula designing, teaching and evaluation processes to acknowledge the need for soft skills in enhancing the employability of the students.

In India there had been a big hue and cry concerning the problem of unemployment because job availability was very meager. However, today the situation is changed. The modern global market and open competition is offering ample job opportunities in the country and abroad. But it is observed that in India unemployability is today a greater issue than unemployment. Former president of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam said, ‘it is not unemployment that is the major problem; it is the question of unemployability that is the major crisis in this competitive arena…’
So, today than ever before, it is our urgent need to acknowledge this problem if only we aim at increasing the employability of our students.

Right now, there is a low supply of workers leading to a shortage which means that instead of trying to hire full-time workers Ashok should try to look to different strategies in order to account for the shortage. He could do so by making opening positions for part-time workers, employ contract workers, outsource work and essentially try to reduce that gap. Ashok should have been prepared for this shortage by forecasting the firm’s demand for future employees. By looking at the market share growth of 8% in 2009 to 30% in 2015 Ashok should have predicted the need for more workers and arranged accordingly. This is a major problem because, with a high demand and low supply, it causes an influx of unqualified
For every job that you have, you will need to have a certain set of skills to be successful. For example, two people are looking to be hired, but only one person will actually get the job. The two people have near identical resumes but a few things make them different. While the first person was able to articulate his ideas when he was being interviewed, the second person could not. The first person was incredibly dedicated to getting the job while the second person was not. Last but not least, the first person was able to adapt to the fast moving paced job unlike the second person. In the end the first person got the job because of his dedication, flexibility, and communication skills. It would be extremely unbeneficial to go into a job without having, in my opinion, these most important set of skills. While there are several job skills that are essential to being successful, I strongly believe that being dedicated, adaptable, and have phenomenal communication skills are the most important.
The intention of the essay is to show reflective self-analysis, which will be described from strengths and weaknesses, personality, skills, learning styles, emotional intelligence and psychometric profile in order to develop myself to have sense of employability for my career in the future. Once Trought (2012) says that employability skills can help establishing success. Therefore, it is very crucial to review oneself as a first step.
...an HDI of 0.36. These discrepancies in levels of development have led to an exodus of people, from less developed areas to the areas that have been benefitted by development. This situation seems to depict that predicted by the Dependency theory in which the developed countries progressed due to the exploitation of peripheral nations; the same seems to be happening in India. The states that are wealthier are exploiting the poorer states. It would be difficult to imagine India having the economic status that it now has, if it was not for the terrible working conditions and wages at which the Indians are willing to work and the massive work force available in the country. Now that India has seen economic growth the government should start taking care of its citizens by implementing policies that protect the labor rights of the workforce.
People need money to purchase all kinds of goods and services they needed every day and sometimes, for goods or services they desire to own. To fulfill that, they have the essential need to earn money. In order to earn money, they must work in either in fields related to their interests or to their qualifications. However, people will meet different challenges during their jobs-hunting sessions, such as many candidates competing for a job vacancy; salaries offered are lower than expected salaries and economic crisis or down which causes unemployment. Unemployment is what we will be looking into in this report. Dwidedi (2010) stated that unemployment is defined as not much job vacancies are available to fulfill the amount of people who want to work and can work according to the current pay they can get for a job they chose to work as. There are four major types of unemployment: frictional, structural, cyclical and seasonal unemployment.
Employability has been defined as “the capability to gain initial employment, maintain employment and obtain new employment if required” (McQuaid and Lindsay, 2005; Hillage and Pollard, 1998). Although, the concept has been widely defined and generally accepted by researchers, there is still confusion as to how an individual tends to develop employment capacity in particular. Many researches have been conducted to identify the need to acquire and to find ways through which the capacity could be developed. The transition of the students from education to work has to be smooth to be more effective and benefit both the student as well as the general society.
Employability is a multifaceted concept and one of the major subjects of debate in terms of what it is, how it is measured, how it is developed, and who is responsible for it. It is also one of the widely debated issues of accrediting and determining world class higher education institutions which could go a long way in systematically improving the performance of an institution as well as an individual. Most of the studies regarding employability have found lesser understanding of this concept especially in graduates who need to be well versed with the concept of employability as they are the force that ignite this notion and take it forward to the workplaces and to the employers they encounter during their careers. There is a need of awareness

In a world where students are often told to get the grade, memorize the answer, and have a surplus of technical abilities, it is extremely essential that they remember what soft skills are and why they are needed. Students need to remember that school is meant to prepare them for college along with a career. The issue in all of this arises when employers complain about the lack of soft skills that new employees are bringing into companies. The bigger issue being why were these students given diplomas as well as degrees, if they did not have what it takes to be in the work industry? Soft skills need to be better incorporated in learning curriculums, leading to higher college and career success rates.
When students went through industrial training, he or she will experience a drastic improvement in team working skill because during training, they have to cooperate with others to complete certain tasks. Moreover, students can also brush up their interpersonal and communication skills during industrial training. For instance, they have to communicate face-to-face with people instead of text messaging during training and this is an effective way to enhance communicating skills. Communication skill is one of the most important soft skills that cannot be learnt by reading. In addition, students will get a brand new experience and this will make a huge difference between those who went through industrial training and those who do not. This difference will increase one’s level of confidence that will help in studying. Soft skills is one of the hardest academic subjects in UMP and to improve that, taking part in industrial training is one of the best
