For my senior project, I researched the positive effects of using video games on the minds and bodies of many types of people. I confirmed my belief that they can be useful as teaching tools and as teachers, depending on the situation. According to further studies, they can also improve a child’s emotional state and help improve the therapy experience for required trainees, like asthmatic children. My mentor was Elliot Huffman, creator and founder of Elliot Labs. He works from home, so I shadowed him there and saw what sort of work he did for his numerous clients, such as website and server setup. It was a fun adventure into a subject I always had an interest in, but never started digging into before. Anything related to a computer now has a definite place in my heart because of this project. My product was to …show more content…
Because of the number of things I had to learn beforehand and during its creation, it was arduous. Finishing it in time was a difficult task, for it needed much work at the beginning all the way to the end. The end result is a fun, simple game that shows anyone can pick up game design. Throughout the senior project I have had to be conscious of time management. Procrastinating on this, considering the huge timeline we seniors are given, is a tempting path, but it almost never works. Finishing up the portfolio gives me freedom, and waiting until the last instant to do it is never a good idea. Knowing that I am a man who has made his own game is a satisfying personal accomplishment, because it is my first major step in to video game development. My message to future seniors is to never give up. This project is daunting, maybe even impossible for one to consider doing, but it is not so. The most important resource really needed for it is time, so future seniors should start whenever they have free time. Working on it little by little, day by day, will make it all the more satisfying at the
There is a newly wedded couple who has decided it is time for them to move out their small apartment and buy their own home. They go house hunting, and after seeing two homes they find this house that they feel is the home of their dreams yet it lacks some of the extra luxury things they feel is needed. They decide to purchase the house. They move in two months later and go straight to work. They knock out walls, change the flooring, add a pool, new appliances, remodel the bathroom, new central air and heat system, everything to fit their desired needs. After months of renovation the house is finally complete. They throw a house warming party to celebrate. Life is great for the couple.
...t the last year of high school would be less agonizing without a laborious issue such as a Culminating Project, to attend to. Therefore, these points have been covered: what the project is, examples of different advocators of the project, and the different viewpoints of why it is useful verses why it is not. Hopefully, this can change the ideals and opinions of the administrators and enforcers of the Senior Project, to consider what a hindrance it is.
This final project felt like a standard working environment for a graphic designer. Multiple projects given and due at the same time. This was challenging because I had to juggle between three different projects at the same time. One of the most challenging part of the projects was trying to coordinate the design and colors of the three projects to make it look cohesive. I had to choose colors that would work well for all the
I believe I am a strong leader and I use my leadership abilities to improve the school as often as I possibly can. One of my strongest leadership skills is communication. I believe that it is vital to talk to others and get others input before making decisions. In the school, I ask other students their opinions on different events and I bring them back to the council frequently. Another leadership ability I possess is creativity. I always attempt to come up with creative and unique ideas to contribute to the council. For example, in meetings I always attempt to share new and different ideas to benefit the council. An important skill for leaders to possess is organization. I show this trait by using a binder to organize my agendas and showing up to every meeting.
After 4 long years of high school this is it. This project is my golden ticket out of high school and i had a blast with it. Like the Coat of Arms was really fun the coloring and showing my creativity. All the essays was crazy but it's got to be done for me to walk across that stage. Mrs. Hope and I Went to the home baseball games and also to the track meets.
Quality Project Reflection For my quality project, I decided to buy and sell stocks to better understand the inner workings of the stock market. By completing extensive research --reading books such as Buffett: The Making of An American Capitalist and watching films such as The Big Short-- I was able to not only gain a better understanding of the stock market, but to also experience it first-hand. To document my work, I created a stock portfolio to analyze each of my stock choices. Through this entire process, I gained a lot of valuable insights.
The overall project was simple and fun to complete. I enjoyed working with people I know personally and are hard workers. Each individual in the group did their best to make sure everything was running as smoothly as possible. What made the project complicated was getting all the information to flow into one singular topic. Each subtopic could have easily been an individual topic, but working together it worked out in the end.
This program had many benefits; one being teamwork, all major projects wherein groups and everyone had to document every step of the project daily. 2 of the big projects I did where a vex coding robot that sorted marbles by size, color, and opacity. Another was a library project where a team designed and blueprinted a library with a way to commercialize
Journal #3 1. What did you learn from this project? Give specific examples from strategy or perhaps something you learned about yourself. From this project, I learned that building an art car can take you a long time to finish.
High school has been a very interesting experience for me. It has definitely had its highs and lows and many confusing experiences in between. Overall, I feel like I have been equipped for not only college, but also life as a whole. High school has taught me many things, both academically and emotionally. It has revealed and exposed my true colors, both good and bad, and as a result, has built many aspects of my character. My experiences at Alameda High school and Alameda Community Learning Center have shaped me into the person that I am today.
In order to conduct our final project and achieve the outcomes we wanted, many skills were needed. Teamwork and cooperation were the most important skills because I was working with two people who I have never worked with before. Communicating with the others was difficult at first, and since they already knew each other it was hard to put my input in. After we spent time out of class together it became natural and we all worked really well together. Working with surveys was a necessary skill too.
The project has also managed to make me numerous connections, both professional and casual, that I hope to maintain. My experiences while on project have solidified my decision to go into the Computer Science field, and taught me about the typical environments in the two primary Computer Science careers. For these reasons, I likely would recommend future seniors to do Senior Project, as I found the experience to be beneficial, even though it unquestionably began by being very
The internship that I acquired during the summer of 2010 at the Greenwood Sports and Industrial Rehabilitation Center (GSIRC), allowed me to gain an immeasurable amount of experience during my tenure at this facility. Within this period, the exposure to new concepts within the physical therapy industry allowed me to observe and work hands on with patients of all ages and disabilities that exposed me to various treatment plans and programs to restore client’s mobility. The essential Physical Education and Exercise Science (PEES) courses taken at Lander University were beneficial to my academic knowledgebase, which prepared me and developed me for the opportunity within the physical therapy discipline. Working as an intern taught me the responsibility of time management and working within a lean schedule that allow me to further develop my skill set. This reflection paper will illustrate my classroom experience, internship experience, and learning experience.
One topic I enjoyed in this class was social interaction and social structure. Social interaction is how we interact with others in the world. Social structure is our status in the world. The one thing that stood out to me was the three different statuses. Ascribed status is a part of us, something that will never go away. My ascribed status is that I am an African American woman. Achieved status is the things we accomplish in life and put effort into. These are the things we freely do. My achieved status would be when I was in High School and I volunteered to mentor small kids at an elementary school. Also when I help my Aunt every year with grading her papers and helping her teach at her school. Master status is the status that makes up your
