Senior Project Rough Draft There is a newly wedded couple who has decided it is time for them to move out their small apartment and buy their own home. They go house hunting, and after seeing two homes they find this house that they feel is the home of their dreams yet it lacks some of the extra luxury things they feel is needed. They decide to purchase the house. They move in two months later and go straight to work. They knock out walls, change the flooring, add a pool, new appliances, remodel the bathroom, new central air and heat system, everything to fit their desired needs. After months of renovation the house is finally complete. They throw a house warming party to celebrate. Life is great for the couple. As the years go by they feel it is time they have a baby, but not just any kind of baby. They go to a reproduction clinic and talk to the doctor. The doctor lets them know all the options they are able to choose from. Just like they made the many changes to their home this is what genetically modifying consist of. The doctor then asks what do they want their baby to consist of as far as its looks and characteristics. With excitement they begin to explain Father: Boy, tall, smart, athletic, healthy. Mother: Boy, attractive, blue eyes, blonde hair, massive IQ. The doctor jots down all of the information and then they move into the next process. The mother’s egg and father’s sperm is then collected. They are presented with a stack of papers so that the doctors have their consent. Everything is then taken to the laboratory and the doctors work their magic. A few months later the couple is contacted by the doctors. Not only will the parents neglect their child, but they will have a case in their hands in which they may decide they want to sue because they feel that they were taken for granted or the money they spent went to waste. Gene editing will also take away the uniqueness of a baby. Due to them being modified babies they will have more of an advantage over the other normal kids which will not be fair to the others. This will more than likely turn into a competition. This will cause a world class of separation causing it to be a gap in society. For example, in schools there may be certain classes in which the normal kids attend. Due to them being the normal kids they get treated as if they know little as nothing and shown very little attention. Then there will be classes in which the
