Student Council Application

I believe I am a strong leader and I use my leadership abilities to improve the school as often as I possibly can. One of my strongest leadership skills is communication. I believe that it is vital to talk to others and get others input before making decisions. In the school, I ask other students their opinions on different events and I bring them back to the council frequently. Another leadership ability I possess is creativity. I always attempt to come up with creative and unique ideas to contribute to the council. For example, in meetings I always attempt to share new and different ideas to benefit the council. An important skill for leaders to possess is organization. I show this trait by using a binder to organize my agendas and showing up to every meeting.
This year, I served as the council Secretary. Having this opportunity, pushed me to contribute as much as as possibly could to the council. In council meetings this year, I attempted to contribute as many unique and creative ideas as possible. One of the many ways I served the council this year was during the annual homecoming celebration. I helped to organize the parade lineup, and I was also in charge of the sophomore

Social media is a popular way of communicating. Being able to use social media to communicate with students would help to keep students informed on what the council is doing, and hopefully in turn improve communication between the council and the students. This year, I noticed that our council struggled with turnout and member participation. Taking attendance not only at meetings but also at events could help to give members the extra push to participate. Organizing and planning events earlier would truly be a game changer for our council. A way to do this would be by planning out all of the things our council plans to achieve at the beginning of the year meeting and looking back at the plans at each
Before taking the StrengthsFinder® assessment I didn’t know what type of leader I was, but I felt I had leadership traits that I could not describe. After answering several questions from the Clifton StrengthsFinder® 2.0, I found out my top five strengths. These strengths consist of individualization, arranger, learner, input and responsibility. The purpose of this paper is to go over my top five strengths to talk about which four domains of leadership these strengths fall under, how class material is applied, and the actions to best utilize my strengths.
A well- rounded leader can be flexible in any situation given to him or her. I personally feel that I possess leadership characteristics well. I do not only possess leadership qualities for myself, but also to set an example for others. By doing this I might aid them in expressing their leadership qualities, no matter their field of interest. As I help others, they might see it in themselves to aid others in finding their leadership qualities.
Being a leader you need to be in tune with your talents, strength’s, and weaknesses. Personally I feel I have many skills and talents. I am a great friend, I’m trustworthy and dependable. I can step up to the plate if needed and I can take control of certain situations without being told to. I love writing and being able to express my feelings or thoughts through writing and poetry. Along with my talents and skills I also have weaknesses. Knowing your weaknesses is twice as important as knowing your strengths in my opinion. One weakness of mine is being motivated. Once I start a task I will finish it and put 150% effort into it, but actually starting the task is my problem. Another weakness of mine is change. I have a problem with drastic change; I have a comfort with familiarity. With every leader there is going to be strengths and weaknesses and I think it’s very
My biggest leadership skills are giving advice, setting goals, and staying on task, no matter what come in my way. As a honor student, I show interest to the task at hand and to guide my fellow National Honor Society cadets into achieving their
An example of my leadership skills will have to be being a senior section leader within marching band and concert band. In order to receive this position, you must not only be a senior but must show leadership skills and responsibility traits within your section. For instance, there are 3 respected seniors within my section of Tenor Saxophones, there are 3 underclassmen. In order to become section leader, the underclassmen must look up to you. They must agree that you have affected their musical ability and are seen as a role-model. Not only the underclassmen, but the band director must acknowledge your ability to keep the section in check with everything that is essential.
One of my greatest skills is being able to be compassionate towards others. By placing myself into someone else’s shoes, I find myself being able to better understand where other people are coming from. I am an extremely caring person that will go to great lengths for anyone. I can easily overlook the differences in other people, and this is what helps me get along with almost anyone that I come across. In order to lead people in a positive direction you need to be able to relate to them on a more personal level. It is much easier when people feel comfortable around their leader. I always like to lend a helping hand or even a shoulder to cry on when it is needed. My strengths include integrity, optimism, faith, innovation, and adaptability. These strengths are important to have in leadership positions. Leaders should have a firm hold on their beliefs and morals in order to have a positive impact on people. Keeping my commitments is crucial to me, because I am a woman of my word. I think this is a good trait in leadership, because people need to be able to count on the person that they look up to. Optimism is also something I value. I belie...
On Monday, April 17, the student activity council of Lester B. Pearson Collegiate Institute held a car wash at the school’s carpark. Teachers and students planned this event for over 2 weeks to raise money for their school to have better equipment for the gym facility and to have a better study-environment. Friends, family, neighbors, and the community came out of their home to support them on a holiday. Mr. Sigalas, Mr. Ming, and Ms. Yeung are the teachers who helped the students made the event happen. Ryan and Vincent are the leaders of the student activity council of the school. Both teachers and students worked really hard on that day to raise as much money they could for their school. “We’ve successfully collected more than C$1,200 for
The nature of an effective leader is to portray self-confidence, integrity, enthusiasm, courage, moral commitment, emotional connection, and drive, as well as having an optimistic point of view. Having the title of a leader is more than attaining a set of leadership skills; being a leader also relies on personal qualities that may be hard to see, but are very powerful-such as charisma (Daft, p.18).
Are you a good leader? A good leader must be articulate so he can understand everyone he leads. A good leader must also be strong minded so he can convince people to do what is right for the group. Last but not least you must be intelligent to one, know what is right for the group and two to back up your other two traits. The best leaders are articulate, strong minded, and intelligent.
"A leader is an individual (or, rarely, a set of individuals) who significantly affects the thoughts, feelings, and/or behaviors of a significant number of individuals” (Gardner, Howard 2012). An essential part of a leader lies in their ability to motivate and influence people to follow their lead. Leaders are both men and women who have the ability to influence others in a community, control situations, connect with others and persuade others to follow them or the goals they define. To be a good leader one must set a good example and make correct decisions for difficult choices. I myself am implementing leadership skills into my every day life. Leadership skills are all around us. They can be applied to any situation where one may be required to take the lead. This can be

In order to be a good leader, one must have self-confidence, communication skills, charisma and integrity. These are the fundamental skills that make a good leader. Self-confidence is the attitude that one possesses in which one is not afraid to make decisions based on their ideas. Communication skills allow a leader to convey his or her ideas or thoughts carefully. Charisma is what makes a leader appealing to the public, and integrity is what allows the public to trust and have faith in the leader. Without these skills, a leader would just be mediocre, and not great.
Another aspect of leadership includes leadership traits such as being influential and inspirational. There also different contexts of leadership, e.g, leading oneself, leading other individuals, leading groups, leading organizations. Some traits that are often associated with being an effective leader include a measure of intelligence, high energy, self confidence, dominance, and a need for achievement. An effective, charismatic leader must lead by example. That leader must be able to know what is going on, the job or task that is being accomplished, and be able to lead the group into performing the task at hand successfully.
There are multiple leadership skills that I have obtained throughout my high school experience. A motivated student and determined athlete is what I am known as to those around me. My excellent work ethic was developed by being a top student in my class. Mentioned in recommendation letters, teachers are characterizing myself as having an excellent character, work ethic, and leadership ability.
Student council elections were coming up, and everyone was encouraging me to run. All of my friends were running, and “the only way” senior year would be fun is if I was a part of student council. I jumped on the opportunity to run for vice president when the sign-up sheets came out. I came up with clever slogans such as “vote fLEXi to build a stronger student body,” and I plastered them along the school walls to make my peers laugh.
