Leadership is being able to direct or guide other people by either your own actions or by actually guiding them into the right direction (Acumen). Inspiration to be a leader might come from many different areas like your family, friends, peers, or even teachers. My inspiration didn’t really occur to me until I started attending college in August 2013. In all actuality I never even thought of how to be a leader until I was in Mrs. Moore’s Perspectives class. I now have a desire to be a great leader, and the inspiration has come from Mrs. Moore, and my family. I am the first to attend college out of my family, so in a away I have already started leading my siblings in the right direction. Being a leader means inspiring others to pursue their dreams, and aspirations and helping throughout the journey to success. Being a leader has nothing with authority or being able to tell other what, and how to do things, it’s about having people who look up to you and want to follow your example. Being a leader you need to be in tune with your talents, strength’s, and weaknesses. Personally I feel I have many skills and talents. I am a great friend, I’m trustworthy and dependable. I can step up to the plate if needed and I can take control of certain situations without being told to. I love writing and being able to express my feelings or thoughts through writing and poetry. Along with my talents and skills I also have weaknesses. Knowing your weaknesses is twice as important as knowing your strengths in my opinion. One weakness of mine is being motivated. Once I start a task I will finish it and put 150% effort into it, but actually starting the task is my problem. Another weakness of mine is change. I have a problem with drastic change; I have a comfort with familiarity. With every leader there is going to be strengths and weaknesses and I think it’s very
What is a leader? Who are chosen to be leader, and why are they chosen? What set these certain individuals aside from everyone else? A leader is someone who can encourage even those with feeble hearts, insecure souls and self-doubting minds. A leader takes not only their vision but everyone’s vision and create one beautiful creation that is seen throughout the world. My experiences with leadership range from the worst to the best. Once holding a great leadership position myself, I can testify the benefits of great leadership and the disadvantages of horrible leadership. Through my experience with great leadership and the effects on the people, it seemed to the naked eye that everyone was thinking the same thing at the same time. In actually it was the leader uniting the members together on one common chord to produce a sound that would remain in the souls. A leader is someone who not only leads, but also encourages people to do their best, share a collectively common idea or passion with a group, and challenge the process of a traditional style.
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
The term leadership often brings to mind people like George Washington, Ghandi, Dwight Eisenhower, or current day military or political figures. These people represent certain strengths, character, and moral behaviors that we attribute to the concept of leadership. At its core, leadership is the ability to influence others to work toward and achieve a common objective or goal. An individual can exhibit leadership at any level of society, not just high profile positions. In fact, leadership can even be witnessed among children and young adults.
Every Leader has his or her own idea of what leadership is, but not everyone thinks the same way. In general, Leaders are those who know how to create a vision, achieve goals and motivate people along the way. My definition of leadership is having the ability to create a vision, motivate people to work collaboratively toward achieving a common objective. I found that my participation in the Service Learning project was enlightening and had a positive effect on my life as a whole. I appreciated the invigoration that I felt as I involved myself in hands-on service to others and for the greater good of the community as a whole.
Some people want to have leadership as one of their personal traits. Leadership is defined as “the position or function of a leader, a person who guides or directs a group”(“leadership”). I believe that some people that show a lot of leadership are Dwight D. Eisenhower and my Football coach . In our everyday lives leadership is used to describe who takes charge of situations. I believe we use this term accurately everyday. Leadership is about when somebody inspires other people to do something by giving speeches and leading by example. Leaders need to inspire other people, they need to be outgoing, and they need to be helpful.
Leadership is essentially the ability to motivate. An effective leader can motivate others toward reaching a common goal. Leaders are different than managers in that leaders inspire others to do the work needed while managers generally tend to manage the tasks associated with completing the goal.
According to the dictionary, a leader is a person who commands a group, organization, or country. To me, a leader is someone who people look up to, respect, and rely upon to get a job done, regardless of what that job may be. A leader is dependable, inspirational, and has the intellect to get his or her job done. A leader also sets goals, finds models of how he or she wants to lead, and becomes a positive role model herself. Leadership plays a huge role in my life both when I am a leader and when I am a follower. In my opinion, one has to be a follower in order to learn how to be a leader. Learning how to take direction and discovering the qualities of a leader are key steps in becoming one. Also, in order to be a leader, one must have followers
There are many different things I think of when I think of what leadership means to me. My idea of leadership is to be able to inspire others, get them excited to do something, motivate them and set an example to others. I also think that showing respect to others is a key part of leadership. You don’t just need leadership qualities, but you need to be a successful leader. To me being a successful leader is being able to have people follow you and not disrespect you. If you are a great leader your followers start to respect you more. To be a leader you also need to have certain qualities like being sociable, intelligent, have patience to deal with situations. A leader needs to be motivated or they will be a failure. I think I show leader ship all the time inside and outside of school. “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way (John C. Maxwell).
These traits have helped me to accomplish many career and educational goals as well as helped me to develop long lasting relationships that have sustained me up until the last year. It seems that hard work and determination are essential in accomplishing almost any goal that a leader sets their sights on. It is my hope that these characteristics will help me to persevere through the difficult times that life and school will thrust upon me. Thus I hope to use my strengths to help me steer the course of my educational and personal goals thus learning how to lead others and myself through turbulent times with grace and dignity. Consequently, my biggest weaknesses and hindrances in leading myself and others are my stubbornness and hesitation to recognize when I am wrong. Good leaders need to know when to admit they are wrong thus allowing them to reevaluate the situation and ask for help if needed. It seems that effective leaders know where their weaknesses lie and can ask for help when needed. This helps them to effectively achieve tasks leading towards long term goals because they know what they can and cannot do. I tend to be a control freak and want to do everything myself, and this is not an effective way to lead. I will need to learn to trust and rely on others to pull
Leadership is something that is heavily prevalent in the workforce and in the world today. Being a leader, in my opinion, takes someone (or a group of people) who is willing and able to lead a few or many people. Not every leader though is successful or leads in a positive way. There definitely exists both good and bad leadership. Many leaders fail while many achieve extraordinary milestones. But everyone, not just leaders, have their pitfalls and rough patches in life. I know that I myself have some weaknesses as a leader, and that is what I want to take some time to reflect on.
So fast the time went for the course and we all are at the end of the course. I learned so many insights from the class during interactions on weekly discussions and PBL case scenarios.
What is leadership? Leadership is defined as a process by which a individual will influence others to obtain goals. Leaders will guide, direct motivate, or inspire others. Leadership is defined by not only traits but actions as well. Leaders are inspirational, trustworthy and charismatic. Many people may think a manger is leader. Some are born as leaders or some are made to be leaders.

Leadersip can not definied by just one word but by action. I have seen development within myself through my volunteer service. Leadership is both a research area and a practical opportunity to share the ability gained as a individual, also through my organizations to lead or guide other individual team members who have a common goal. Volunteering in the church organizations matches my need to be of service to others. While volunteer at Fallbrook church I in return have been served I have been guided, nurtured, and challenge through the process. I have been
Many people associate leadership with a specific job title or form of power within an organization. Based on the definition of leadership, anyone can be considered a leader as long as they have the ability to influence people to achieve a particular result or goal which benefits the organization or group as a whole. Individuals with a secure sense of self and understanding, acceptance of diversity within an organization tend to be the strongest leaders that not only make others want to follow, but they also encourage other leaders to gravitate to their
The Leadership role has it’s exceptional demand on it’s own when it comes to big metropolis organization. The organization I work at it has chain facilities where leaders are not judged by the followers. The followership quotient definitely depends on the behavior of the leader, and most followers follow the footsteps of the leader. Perhaps the organization I work for has it’s own defaults when it comes to leadership. I often look at my manager as the leader of the team, and other times, I look at our scheduling leader and feel she the leader of the team. However my perspective changes based on the scenarios that get handled by each of them.
