Important aspects of being a self-directed, intrinsically motivated, and active learner are taking the initiative, comfortable being independent, persistent, responsible, self-disciplined, overcome obstacles, and confident. These are just some of the many aspects that describe a successful self-directed learner. By taking the initiative, they are taking charge of their learning and not waiting for others to tell them what they must learn. They must also learn to be independent and learn to be self-reliant in order to successfully continue their learning. Being persistent is also key in ensuring that you are motivated and willing to learn new things no matter the challenges that you face. Self-directed learners are also responsible and hold themselves responsible for doing their work and getting things done in a timely manner. In addition, self-learner must also be able to overcome any challenges that come their way and don't give up on their studies. One of my strengths is being comfortable with independence. I actually prefer to work independently as opposed to a team or group. I tend to get more work done and work more effectively on my own. I have always been self-reliant in ensuring the success of my learning career.

When reviewing the results for the Strength Finder Quiz (Gallup, 2010) I was pleased to see that I had a good understanding of where my strengths are and knowing they are being used regularly. The quiz showed that my five greatest strengths are Ideation, Input, Realtor, Activator, and Command. At the current position I am in at work I am able to be really productive based on the skill set that I have.
My strengths would be extraversion and conscientiousness. I definitely find my extraversion as a strength, because it helps me network with ease. By far one of the greatest skills I have learned within this class is becoming mindful while crafting a college writing piece. Becoming mindful encorporates the usage of noticing, observing, and becoming aware of mistakes within writing pieces and taking the time to apply adamant amount of time for the revision and editing process. Becoming mindful is writing with intention, and re-reading with awareness. A key example of this was in my Op-Doc piece. When crafting my Op-Doc project, I just wrote all of my thoughts down on the page. As you can see in my reflection blog over the project, I had a lot of great ideas and was very invested in the project. I enjoyed getting to watch the Op-Doc and analyze its deeper meanings. A self-directed learner is a student with self-confidence that helps to study effectively, with ability to view problems as challenges not obstacles, with ability to set a plan or a schedule for completing a task at hand, taking initiative in every aspect of studies and do not wait to be told what to do, organizing time effectively in order to be productive at work. An intrinsically motivated person is a student who has a strong desire to learn. He understands study process as a positive way upward in life. He works towards a solution of a problem with a pleasure in finding the solution.
My fifth strength is Belief. This means that I possess core values and I am family-oriented, altruistic, spiritual, and value responsibility and high ethics (Gallup, 2010). I believe that I developed this strength while going to church and going through different situation in my personal life. One of my greatest strengths at work that I have recognized would have to be my ability to be a well-organized individual. I tend to write what I have to do down on paper and prioritize what is more important to least important. In doing this, it helps me organize and accomplish my work and meet deadlines that are important. A personal strength that I have at home is patience.
