Personality Assessment Introduction I found the test results of the Big Five personality assessment to be an interesting and a very accurate description of myself. After completing this assessment, I was able to analyze my personality in depth. I found this information to be helpful knowledge and provide insight about myself, as well as being crucial in examining my personality traits. The big five is also referred to the OCEAN model of personality, and stands for the main traits used to describe personalities. This acronym stands for openness to experience/intellect, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. I like to think that I am fun loving and I know I am very sociable, talkative, and energetic. I get energized by being with others, and I love going to parties or any type of social gathering/places with large amounts of people. I discovered that extroverts tend to have positive moods that enable contextual performance because they are perceived as more empathetic, and are more likely to create a stronger network of close relationships (Palaiou & Furnham, 2014). A personal example that relates extraversion to networking in my own life, is how I was able to make connections and know the right people before going to Italy. My extraverted personality led to me talking to the Italian exchange students, because I noticed nobody else ever talked to them. I thought it would be so intriguing to get to know them, and it turned out in my favor when they reciprocated the kindness by showing me their beautiful country. I was able to see and experience many things normal tourists wouldn’t. One last example to prove the Big Five was accurate at rating my extraversion, is how I honestly find myself at ease in large crowds. My strengths would be extraversion and conscientiousness. I definitely find my extraversion as a strength, because it helps me network with ease. Also, it is a strength because some research has revealed that extraversion has some impact on academic performance, and is likely due to higher rates of extraverts participating actively in class (Dumfart & Neubauer, 2016). My other strength, conscientiousness, is valued for being a major predictor of positive academic performance. School is the most important thing to me other than my family, and my conscientiousness really comes into play is regards of my school work. I find myself to have a strong drive for achievement, and I possess the self-discipline that’s necessary for me to flourish. For example, in high-school I would study so diligently and thoroughly that I had straight A’s for almost three years
The first subset of my personality is Extraversion, as opposed to Introversion. As an extrovert, I would describe myself as social, external and gregarious. This characteristic helps me communicate and reach out to others. However, there are cons that go along with extroversion. Often, I speak before I think and can cut other people off, or say things without thinking through the consequences. Extroverts can also be easily distracted, something that I am all too familiar with.

The Big 5 theory is based around the five factor model. The five factors of the model and the theory are: Openness (or intellect), Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism (or emotional stability). Openness is a person’s “level of creativity and curiosity.” Conscientiousness is a person’s “level of organization and work ethic.” Extraversion is the “level of sociability and enthusiasm.” Agreeableness is a person’s “level of friendliness and kindness.” And finally Neuroticism is a person’s “level of calmness and tranquility.” These 5 factors are tested by the Neo-Pi system and used to describe a personality. The “Big Five” personality traits and the tests that show you what where on the scale of each of the five traits you fit are concepts that were introduce to me actually in high school. And it was interesting to see how I have changed in terms of the five traits from the first time I took the test to most recently when I did the test again.
My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks. The purpose of taking the Five Factor Personality Test is to reveal that their are five main factors that are able to describe a human 's personality. These five factors are extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness which in short term is called ocean. It is believed if you are able to understand and describe a human 's personality, it will be easy to predict their actions to situations they may face. By taking this test, I will reveal the results of the test and comment on how they relate to my personality in reality.
I found the results of my self-assessments to be a very insightful and accurate description of myself. The results of the learning styles test and the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II are very valuable for examining my personality traits and learning style and making improvements as needed.
Personality Theories The Big Five Approach plays a major role in the process of understanding and analyzing a child’s outcome, as well as any adjustment issues that may occur during a child’s development. Along with these accomplishments, the Big Five approach has proven to be able to cover children, adolescents, and adults under one spectrum (Van den Akker et al., 2013). The article, “The development of personality extremity from childhood to adolescence: relations to internalizing and externalizing problems” provides an intense amount of information on personality theories and goes into depth about how personalities develop and how to distinguish between them as well. This study not only incorporated the study of personality extremity throughout childhood and adolescence, but the issues between personality extremities and personality adjustments as well (Van den Akker et al., 2013).
The Big Five Theory is a useful tool to create a personality profile for a particular individual. By analysing a person using The Big Five Traits of extraversion, openness, conscientiousness, agreeableness and neuroticism one can determine an individual’s basic personality profile.
In the vast and detailed world of psychology, there are a variety of different tests you can participate in. For example, you can participate in aptitude, verbal or numerical reasoning, and psychometric tests. These tests assess on a variety of different situations such as: behaviors, abilities and intelligence. Personality tests, a common and favored test, measure things such as: behavioral style, opinions, motivators, personal values and career interests. Most often, people complain or disagree with the score of some areas on their personality test; however, there are no right or wrong answers. After completing this personality test and reviewing the results, I found that the overall scoring accurately described me in most areas. It may have its limitations because people do not have the same personality in every situation. For example, a teen or adolescent will talk and interact with their parents way differently than with their friends. With this in mind, a person will exhibit many different personalities throughout the day. Which one is the correct personality or corresponds with who the person truly is. Also, the test only provides answers to how the individual’s personality is at one particular time. The Big Five Project Personality Test breaks down our personality’s into the five dimensions also known as the ocean model. The ocean model is an acronym for the 5 dimensions; openness to experience/intellect, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. I came into this personality test hoping to get a pretty good representation of who I am but in all honesty in some aspects I got the complete opposite.
After taking the Big Five Personality Test I’ve concluded that it is a fairly accurate assessment of my personality. 1) On Openness to Experience/Intellect I ranked at the 53 percentile, with the description that I don’t typically seek out new experiences. I would agree with this assessment. While I am somewhat creative, I am no artist. It takes me more time to do something creative than something analytical, but I do still like to be creative on occasion.
