One school rule that I think should be changed is the dress code. Some things on our dress code should be changed. Such as fingertip length shorts, shoulders not being able to be shown (tank tops). Some schools are even beginning to banned leggings and yoga pants. Since I think these should be changed, I will be explaining all of my reasons for each dress code mistake. The first dress code rule that should be changed is fingertip length shorts. I know the reason for this is so that boys won't be “distracted”, but instead of telling girls what they can't wear, we need to teach boys to not be perverts. Also some boys wouldn't even notice the shorts if the teachers, and staff wouldn't make such a big deal about it. I know some shorts can be …show more content…
I know the reason is so that girls don't show too much of their chest, but if you put a jacket or sweater on there is the same chance that your chest will be shown than when you don't have a jacket on. If the shirt isn't skin tight, then it doesn't even matter. If it is hot outside you want to wear tanks. Therefore, I think we should be able to wear tank tops and sleeve less shirts in school. My final reason isn't a dress code that is banned yet, but there is talk of it possibility of it being banned. This dress code is not being able to wear leggings in school property. I think this is wrong because girls wear leggings a lot because they are cheap, cute, and match pretty much anything. Also you can wear them under a cute dress or skirt that is too short. Why would you want to banned something so many girls wear? I know they are skin tight, but so are skinny jeans. That is why I think leggings and yoga pants shouldn't be banned from the school dress code. Those are my reasons on how our dress code needs to be changed. The specific codes that need changed are shorts, tank tops, and the talk of banning leggings and yoga pants. I know each of these thing could distract boys but so could any other
Dress codes have been an issue lately in some schools. Most kids are against it but I believe that there should be dress codes in all schools. This would be a good idea because it would reduce violence and bullying, eliminate the problem of wearing hats or jackets and they are less expensive.
Life is full of distractions and, for high school students, inappropriate clothing has the potential to grab much attention. However, does the matter of clothing warrant strict rules? I agree that, like alcohol, the students’ attire should have rules regarding whether or not the choices in clothing are suitable for a public school setting. I also agree that violators of school rules should receive punishment for their lack of compliance to the school policies. However, there is a fine line. Some schools, like Carroll High School, are taking dress codes too far. One rule in particular hinders the students’ ability to wear pants with holes in them. It makes sense that holes located in certain places might cause a...
I really do not understand why any school would ban hoodies, or even jackets because it is apparently the best for the school. I believe that the school did this because they wanted to be like every other
The Dress Code is also to help from distractions like weird, strange clothes, it often distracts the students from learning. Not only that, but in High School there is large groups of gangs, and they can’t wear clothing that represents them and wear anything offensive, because then less violence will occur.
The most prominent example that comes to mind when thinking of male-specific supplements to dress codes relates to sagging pants, an urban trend where pants are worn low to expose many inches worth of boxers. Efforts to ban these practices have never once mentioned how visible boxers would tortuously distract nearby females. Rather, they focus on visible underwear being inappropriate for a learning or work environment. Based on that article, dress codes seem to be a little too specific on what girls should or should not be allowed to wear, while boys only have a few dress code policies to worry about.
Another reason why students should be allowed is that teachers can be biased.RI ACLU says “there is no general rule, schools cannot bar you from wearing clothing simply because they disapprove of the message that the clothing conveys”. No one person or power should be able to decide a universal factor. Many people have many different views about
Slowly growing in popularity, this problem spotlights exclusively one problem in our world today, a problem in today’s society, a problem that urgently needs to be solved. First and foremost, the main problem is how male’s dress code differs from female’s dress code. “Guys can sag their pants down to their knees, but god forbid you see my bra strap” (Teenager Post #16538). On many accounts, schools have been more lenient towards guys dress code violations rather than girls dress contravention. On one account, there were three dress code violations, two of which were guys and the last one was a girl.
Boys dress code allows them to wear a lot more and is more laid back than girls . It shouldn't matter what a girl is wearing; it shouldn't be a distraction in class. A girl ran a test and had three boys take a math test. She had a jacket on, and when she took it off and tested them again, they didn't even realize a change. It is not a girl's fault if a boy is distracted by them. A boy can wear shorts and tank tops to school, why can't we? I think the same dress code should apply to both boys and girls. Just because some boys can't 'control themselves' doesn't mean a girl should have to change what they
problem is quite clear. Students just need to abide to the rules that were given. I myself don't enjoy the dress code, however I do follow the rules that are written in the handbook. I understand that many of my classmates don't like the rules that were set for us but trying to be rebellious will do nothing besides cause more problems. Going to detention or saturday school is not worth wearing Jesus shoes or missing a belt. The dress code is not outrageous, though at times it might seem so. For example the belt it helps keep those who take pleasure in sagging their pants low enough for the world to see their underwear, which no one wants to see. Shaving is
We see stories Social media has more stories of girls being sent home because of dress code violations. Maybe the problem isn’t the students, but dress codes in general. Dress codes ultimately disrupt the pursuit of knowledge for the students, encourage gender bias, and can be dangerous. If we want the younger generations to succeed in the education system, we should utilize school uniforms. Uniforms in schools from elementary to high schools, will promote gender equality and facilitate student safety.
Choosing what to wear for the day. This is what most students are thinking about when they wake up. Students need the latest fashion in order to fit in, but some clothing may not be acceptable to wear in school. School dress codes are denying students their right to dress how they want, but the dress code is important for the students and their learning. Students are beginning to stand up and want to be heard. Some students are taking action and want the dress code to become less strict but some schools are doing the opposite for safety issues and for the students healthy learning environment. Dress codes are important for a strong and healthy learning environment and is also reducing violence in many schools around the country.
Pants below waist, baggy shirts with sexist signs, and piercings, this is not a good view early in the morning. That’s why the school should implement a uniform policy. Uniforms should be mandatory in school. Uniforms make the school appear more professional. Also with uniforms students won’t compare themselves with each other. Moreover uniforms can help students save time. Additionally parents won’t have to waste so much money on clothes hence will have a better budget.
What is one thing to change in a schools dress code? How would that change affect everyone around you? I believe one change should be students ability to wear a hat because it gets very cold in the winter, not wearing a hat makes it easier to get sick, a hat would prevent us from getting sick as much. Here are three reasons why schools should change the dress code to allow students to wear hats.
Ever since the introduction of school dress codes in the year 1969, schools nationwide have been in constant debates with student boards on whether to implement a dress code or not. Once I heard news of the potential decision by the school board, I was taken aback as ever since my freshman, I grew to love this school and all the people involved in making it what it is today. However, the one thing I believe this school does not need is a student dress code. After all, these dress codes cause more harm to the students that whatever good you may think they cause. These codes take away our sense of identity in a time where we need it most as we are growing and learning, and becoming independent adults.
The final reason, and possibly the most important of the three to change the dress code is that by telling a students that they have to change, a teacher or administrator is putting the value of the other students’ education above the dress code offender. Most often, the reason a student’s are told to change because their outfits are too distracting. a pair of shorts isn’t harming anyone, nor is it offensive. Are shoulders and legs so arousing that it completely stops anybody from being able to focus at all? Then, what will the suspect think? He or she can’t wear what she wants to because the education of the male students in her class is more important? It puts a student in a very tough spot because they are forced to make the decision between wearing what they want or wearing something that takes who they are away from
