Are Hoodies Worth Putting Back in the Uniform Handbook? Hoodies, the most comfortable thing Cornerstone has ever come up with for clothes. This year, the school administration decided to ban them, so they are no longer allowed at school. Last year, most people wore hoodies. This year, students are allowed to wear either V neck sweaters or crew neck sweatshirts instead. Why is this such a big deal? Well let me explain, every day most of the school would wear jackets and hoodies, but almost never sweaters. Cornerstone must bring back the hoodie. I really do not understand why any school would ban hoodies, or even jackets because it is apparently the best for the school. I believe that the school did this because they wanted to be like every other
School is something we all know and understand. Regardless of whether we wanted it or not, we have all passed through school. School is, first and foremost, a place designed for people to go and learn. It is a place to better yourself, to learn facts, discipline, to learn social and economic skills. But for all that school is intended for, people go for different reasons. Some are hardworking and academically minded, they go to learn, to set a good foundation for their future, with an aim of becoming successful and accomplished in their career. Students are becoming more concerned with what they are wearing and they are being distracted from the learning process. Although many students are not happy with the strictness some of the school’s new uniform policies, the policies should stay in place in order to increase school safety, devote student’s attention to learning and reduce bullying and peer pressure.
What is a uniform? A uniform is a commentary that does not really matter to society. A piece of cloth-material that can be either khaki or black. For example, KAC requires their students to wear a uniform, and many students feel that it takes away individuality. This is one of the reasons why schools should not force to wear uniforms.
My final reason isn't a dress code that is banned yet, but there is talk of it possibility of it being banned. This dress code is not being able to wear leggings in school property. I think this is wrong because girls wear leggings a lot because they are cheap, cute, and match pretty much anything. Also you can wear them under a cute dress or skirt that is too short. Why would you want to banned something so many girls wear? I know they are skin tight, but so are skinny jeans. That is why I think leggings and yoga pants shouldn't be banned from the school dress code.

One of the greatest controversies that is spreading throughout high schools in the United States is parents and their children against the enforcement of their school’s uniform policy. More schools have been adopting uniform policies within the past decade. Rules contained in the policy that are implemented range from wearing certain types of tops (shirts) in specified colors to students being required to tuck in their shirts. In the past, uniforms were exclusively for students who attended private schools because they were “well-off”, but now uniforms are being seen more frequently in public schools on students of all economic levels. Having gone through a school system that considered adopting a uniform policy, I would have to press against the issue of mandated uniforms, because it is simply un-American and unjust.
High school is typically a time when kids begin to distinguish themselves from one another. Students begin to develop their own sense of personal style, desperately trying to both fit in and stand out simultaneously. Being self-conscious and often lacking the confidence needed to assert themselves, teens are forced to use clothing and outward appearance as the means to manifest this individuality. Thus, students should not be forced to wear uniforms to school. Standard uniforms are unproven deterrents to student violence; are a "Band-Aid" to cover up the real problems faced by children and teens; and they violate students' right of self-expression, depriving them of their search for identity.

I disagree. I, in fact think that school uniforms do not help make our schools a more secure place, I think that they do not revisit the center of attention to student's education - they just shifted where the attention was previous, and that they won’t help cut down on harassment or self- esteem issues in school.
School uniforms should be part of the school systems, because statistics had shown that students who wear uniforms are doing better than dress codes. More students also feel a sense of equality among each other and there are fewer judgments of others. It allows teacher quickly to identify people who do not belong in the building and limit the ways that gangs can identify themselves. School outfit provides students identity, individual spirit, and pride. Uniforms are increasing throughout different schools. School uniforms make students look more formal, and progressively affects student’s self-esteem, discipline, and safety, and develops students be more confident of what they can achieve in life.
Should school uniforms be required? Some say that uniforms help students focus on academics instead of fashion. Others believe that students should have the freedom to choose what they wear to school in order to express their differences and their uniqueness. After considering both sides of the issue, I strongly believe that uniforms should be introduced in primary public and private schools. Wearing school uniforms does not promote unfair comparisons between student’s incomes in terms of clothing; they aid students in developing their inner qualities instead of focusing on the outer aspects of themselves in the crucial earlier years of their lives, and provides a platform for practicing discipline.

Bullies frequently choose to pick on an individual based on what they wear, and as many students already have a tough time at school, they don’t need bullies to make it even worse. Imagine what would happen if they were all dressed alike? In my opinion, the use of school uniform would provide a more bully-free environment causing them to have one less reason to get picked on.
