Rules of engagement are a necessary part of social interaction as well as business. As real estate professionals explore the online world, it is often difficult to clearly understand what the rules are because the context changes so quickly. It was barely a decade ago that the most progressive agents were those who had a website. Today, a blog is a pre-requisite for the web savvy practitioner. Therein lies the confusion. Do the rules really change just because the context does? Are there some things that will not change regardless of how drastically technological advancements redefine the business landscape? I would argue that YES, there are foundational issues which will not change inspite of the shifting sands which continually realign …show more content…
I refer to these as the Three P's of Priority, Perseverance and Patience. Proper Priorities Knowing what your priorities should be is the biggest single factor which determines success or failure for many agents. There are only a few things that actually make money for a successful agent. These are: listing or selling a home, prospecting for new business, following up on leads and asking for the appointments necessary build relationships and build our business. Everything else that we do, including attending closings, is a result of the above activities. When we loose sight of this and spend little time on these basic activities, our business is bound to suffer. Perseverance Persevering involves keeping on, in spite of, not because of. The old saying 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going' is true. Many agents give up far too quickly. This is where it can be helpful to talk to other successful people or read their books. One will quickly discover that everyone has struggled in one fashion or another. It's a fact of life. Persevering is a pre-requisite for success because it proves that you are willing to do what it takes to get the prize...your goal of a successful
... front of me since the road to success is far away. Facing unknown obstacles is like drowning in water because obstacles are weighted heavily and sometimes I can't lift it. I just have to use my strength and hopefully, I can raise it off me. I learned that sometimes it is better to have a little false hope than to have none. Perseverance doesn’t not come naturally to all people but eventually it will come because they will find it. It helps them find their inner self by going through obstacles so that they can be more of a life challenge. I believe that this can change a person who they are because it is something everyone needs to go through life.
Perseverance and failure cannot coexist. Failure happens when you quit. When all is said and done, perseverance, commonly referred to as "stick-to-itiveness," is the ultimate success insurance. Nothing can take its place.
Hard work helps toward leading a happy and successful life. If you want to be successful, set goals and do your best to work hard and reach them. In the article, How 9 Incredibly Successful People Define Success, Drake Baer quotes nine different people with different definitions of success. One person Baer quotes is John Wooden who talks about doing your best, “Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.” His views on success in part, agree with my views on success. Doing your best will help you to reach for your goals. In the same article, Baer researches Winston Churchill, a British politician, “Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.” Both Churchill and I hold the opinion that even if you fail, you should get up and keep going. To not think of it as a failure, but think of it as a lesson on what not to do next time. For example, If someone is making a cake, and it burns, they know that next time they should not bake it for so
Professionals state that the primary distinction between someone that is successful along with someone who does not is, those who are generally successful consider precisely what the final result is going to be, however those who are not successful (as well as those who do not genuinely try) concentrate on what they've to endure. Keep in mind just what life is going to be like after you stop, and trust me when I say that your life is destined to be just the way you want it, IF you take the steps you should do to get there.
Perseverance commonly occurs in everyone’s lives. Every single person that exists persists towards a goal, and every person has persisted a goal for as long as people have existed. However, even though perseverance usually resonates with pursuant people, it is also what makes people stand out the most as well. No person becomes a great and influential individual by half-trying something, and then giving up. Everyone must learn to push through tough times and failure to get anywhere in life. No matter what the situation may be, pursuance remains the key component for one’s accomplishments and goals because one must try first before they can achieve their goals; whether that goal becomes survival, being a hero, becoming a dominant administrator,
I will never give up. I will never allow failure to be an option. I will set goals and I will achieve them. We are obstacles are set in front of us daily. Daily obstacles can range from waking up in the morning when we are overworked to losing a limb or a love done. However, when the outcome is not in my favor I will utilize the situation to find my weaknesses and build a better me for the next battle.
It is by setting constant goals for myself that I am able to demonstrate values and initiative throughout my life in a consistent way. Immediate goals limit distractions along the path I choose to take. Short-term goals keep my eyes down the road to ensure that I can overcome the obstacles ahead. Long-term goals allow me to understand that the obstacles that I see ahead are far inferior to unforeseen challenges that wait for me down the road. It is with this system in mind that I am able to constantly achieve while maintaining my core values and constant initiative. Professionalism allows those goals to come to fruition by creating networks and friendships that are the cornerstone in business achievement.
Another important skill to have is to always have patience not just on the client but vice versa.
Given the tough times that everyone goes through at some point in life, one might think that perseverance dies off—that perseverance is no longer a goal. But in fact, there are those that manage to look through the dark tough times and achieve a goal.
Even if someone is struggling at the moment, they have to persevere because it will pass and all the hard work they did will pay
Perseverance is a commonality in everyone’s lives. Every single person that exists persists towards a goal, and every person has persisted a goal for as long as people have existed. However, even though perseverance is common, it is also what makes people stand out the most as well. No person becomes a great and influential individual by half-trying something, and then giving up. Everyone must learn to push through tough times and failure to get anywhere in life. No matter what the situation is, perseverance is the key component for one’s accomplishments and goals because one must try first before they can achieve their goals; whether that goal is survival, being a hero, becoming a dominant administrator, or anything one can desire.
One of the many reasons perseverance is essential is that it helps us reach our goals. As Thomas Edison said, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” One of the biggest goals that perseverance has helped me achieve is running cross country. This summer, I started practicing cross country. I thought about giving up many times, but my determination kept me going.
The film Rules of Engagement show several moral and ethical dilemmas, the most obvious being the conflict for the film. The film follows the story of a mission assigned to Colonel Terry Childers that goes awry. During an evacuation mission, Colonel Terry Childers gave the order for his men to open fire on a protesting crowd when they began receiving fire from armed protesters and snipers across the street. This resulted in the death of 83 civilians and injuries to over 100 more, leading to his court-martial and the argument that he fired into an unarmed peaceful protest instead of in self-defense (Gaghan, 2000). There are many moral and ethical dilemmas posed in the film.
Maybe when we fail, we think we are not worthy of success. When the real meaning of perseverance is to embrace our fail, and strive our own way to success.
