1. In your own words, what can be wrong with TGIF thinking? It could be misinterpreted because it can lead to procrastination. It could be a way to devalue our lives, by saying in an implicit way that our study and/or work doesn’t matter and the only thing that matter is our free time. 2. For each of the three criteria for success, a) evaluate how well you already fulfill that criterion, and b) how you can improve on fulfilling that criterion. A. Perseverance: a) I fulfill my life with perseverance working a part-time job and being a full-time student. Is a little bit hard to work all of these aspects of my life together, mostly because when I’m not on the campus I am either working or doing my homework. So, in that way, I can turn in my assignments on time. b) …show more content…
I could improve my perseverance by not letting the failure to take me down.
Maybe when we fail, we think we are not worthy of success. When the real meaning of perseverance is to embrace our fail, and strive our own way to success. B. Excellence a) In this aspect, I think I’m achieving excellence by being able to have the ability to manage my job and being a full-time student with good grades. I think is a little hard to do it, because to achieve this balance I have to sacrifice most of my free time. b) I think I could improve in this aspect by distributing my time. Sometimes, I make poor choices between what is important and urgent, and what is not important nor urgent. Learning how to take better choices sometimes could improve my path to
excellence C. Living in the present: a) I live in the present most of the time when I don’t worry about the failure. I mean, failure is not good. but when I don’t let it aggravate me, I can focus on the present and I can keep following my path to success b) When you worry too much about the future you lose sight of what you have in front of you. You have to find the balance between planning ahead without losing track of your present. 3. Which one of the three do you find most important in order to obtain personal success? Why? (Try to provide specific examples.) I found the perseverance to be the most important to achieve success. Because even though the excellence and living in the present could count as important factors to achieve success. The most important one is the perseverance because you can have excellence and can plan ahead while living in the present. without perseverance, the smallest amount of failure could bring down all the achievements that person had had before.
“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no help at all. Dale Carnegie believed that perseverance could overcome even the harshest obstacles. Perseverance is inspired by a purpose, an unsatisfied drive to achieve a goal. During a cataclysmic event, only people with a purpose endure.
That exact statement makes me or any reader feel that failure doesn’t always have to be perceived to be negative. Failure can improve personal growth. We are always scared out the outcome failure will bring, but that is the silver lining for our personal growth. If we concentrate more on the effort we put into a certain task, we can grow by the steps we take along the way. Anyone can succeed, no matter their
... front of me since the road to success is far away. Facing unknown obstacles is like drowning in water because obstacles are weighted heavily and sometimes I can't lift it. I just have to use my strength and hopefully, I can raise it off me. I learned that sometimes it is better to have a little false hope than to have none. Perseverance doesn’t not come naturally to all people but eventually it will come because they will find it. It helps them find their inner self by going through obstacles so that they can be more of a life challenge. I believe that this can change a person who they are because it is something everyone needs to go through life.
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines perseverance as the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. In today’s society, there are so many walls and barriers that prevent humans from achieving their dreams and goals and people begin giving up. However, great poets such as Homer and famous music groups such as Mumford and Sons have used the strife of humanity to compose works that can be used to inspire and institute hope for humanity. With perseverance, there are three key aspects, struggle, loyalty, and strength. The struggle is what allows humans to learn, grow, and better themselves, the loyalty demonstrated provides motivation for success, and the personal strength allows the person to build
Growing up, my parents never expected perfection but expected that I try to accomplish my best. The effort I’ve put forth in learning has been reflected in my grades throughout my high school career. I’ve entered myself in vigorous course work such as AP Government and AP English to become well prepared for my college career, all while maintaining a 4.4 grade point average this year. Not only do I engage in AP classes, but up until this year I had no study halls. I wanted my day to be packed full of interesting classes that I would enjoy learning about. My grades and choice of classes prove the effort that I put forth in my learning. Working hard now can only pay off in the future. Learning now creates a well-rounded human being. Working to learn is why I am so dedicated to my studies now.
And if it is true that the lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success then I am right. This is where my path to success really begins. It is never late to start again. Small things that aren’t so small can have a big repercussion in someone's life. We as human beings need to learn how to be more loving, respectful and compassionate. I am so proud to be who I am today because of this past experiences. I believe almost everybody has had a time in their lives in which they failed, nobody is perfect. Failure indeed can be fundamental to later success, but the expectations of success are not what people think, at least for me, but I certainly know I'm not
People have said that to succeed, you must first fail. I didn’t really understand this until failure became so present in my life. In the beginning, my team was losing game after game, and getting knocked out of tournament after tournament. It was hard to keep playing on a team that was struggling so much. “Hang in there guys. We’re
Many people show perseverance, including me. I showed perseverance when I failed a quiz and I knew to get my grade up I had to work harder and study more. I knew if my parents found out that I failed a quiz they would yell at me and would be disappointed on me for getting a bad grade on a quiz because I didn’t study. This factor contributes me to work harder, I learned that I need to work harder to succeed, like Salva, how he showed perseverance by looking for his family.
A specific case is Jennifer Eagan subjecting herself to constant literary critique, a situation that many would avoid. The difference between Eagan and others is one thing, she wanted to improve. In order to improve one must face challenge. In reality everyone faces a difficult situation at some point in their life, but the severity depends on the person. Some may perceive an AP class to be difficult while others might say that sitting in class has a certain level of difficulty. These situations don’t create perseverance because one puts themselves in front of every difficult situation, but instead because they make a habit of it. It is the act of unconsciously carrying out habitual actions that creates perseverance, not intentionally putting oneself in difficult
¨Most of the important things in this world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.¨ was a quote by Dale Carnegie a accomplished American writer and lecturer. I believe one of the themes of the quote is perseverance and to never give up no matter how hard or difficult something is. I also believe one of the other themes of the quote is determination and to keep doing what you want and doing and don't listen to people that say you can't do something.
My entire life, I have strived to do well in everything I do. I have never wanted to settle for second best in the activities that I am interested in. Once I have a goal in my mind, I work until it is complete. I work to overcome the obstacles ahead of me. In school, I work towards perfect marks on everything from homework to tests.
I take pride in and put effort into all my work, whether academic or not.
Since failure is truly more common than success, one’s question for life should not be if you have problems, but how you are going to deal with your problems. Philosophically speaking, there is no achievement without failure. To even imply that it might be possible to achieve anything without failure, gives people the wrong impression. The person construct theory introduced by George Kelly, Psychologist, says that in order to know success and its definition we must also know failure and its definition (INSERT CITATION). One can’t have proper perspective without the other. That theory goes hand-in-hand with the concept of failure and success - navigating/conducting individual behavioral situations test our perceptions and interpretations. If we do not like the results or “how we handled it”, we can change - albeit not always easily. (INSERT
Throughout my life, I have strived to be a hard-working individual when it comes to school, my job, and family work. I always try to work quickly and efficiently, and make my work the best that it can be. Perfectionism is a major part of my life and that is one of the driving forces behind my hard work. Sometimes the drive to be perfect can limit my results, but I try my hardest to keep it from restricting me. I always give one hundred percent when it comes to completing various tasks, and find pride in being a hard-worker.
Hardworking is one of the many words I use to describe myself. Not only do I have a mesmerism for helping my fellow students, but I also have an appeal to lead my school. I show many moral focus virtues, such as wisdom, respect, gratitude, perseverance, leadership, and hard work. I display wisdom by showing high quality judgement, experience and knowledge about many of my school subjects.
