For my final placement in early childhood, I was placed in a preschool classroom where my role was to showcase my skills as an educator. I took on my placement supervisor’s responsibilities and managed many of the classroom activities, circles, and meals. On the first day, I met with my placement supervisor and we went over expectations, classroom responsibilities, and curriculum planning. Her role was to supervise me at placement and be there for support but allow me to lead the classroom with the other educator. I expressed my hopes and ambitions for the placement, and together we cooperatively made weekly goals to achieve the requirements set by my program. At first, I found it difficult to grab the children’s attention when we would start transitioning and it was difficult for me to serve lunch due to the number of allergies we had. My placement supervisor gave me tips and helped me to develop strategies to improve. Overall it was a wonderful placement and I was offered work once I graduated. I believe what made it such a wonderful placement was the teamwork and team dynamics we established early on. Having conversations about expectations and goals, as well as the centre’s philosophy helped to get all of us on the same page. The other educator in the room and I got along well, and my program supervisor was there supporting what we were doing. We worked together and maintained open communication throughout the day. Although I was described as shy when I started, I would like to think I was perceived positively. If I could go back to the situation I would continue practicing the skills I was taught, however, I would not change my role as I enjoyed the work I did and the dynamics the team
