As a quiet, shy and reserved person the work field with my current experience have shown me that the very principles of being a future supervisor may have a small challenge due to my personal comfort zone limits. Even though I still strive for future success and possibly a supervisor position at some point in my current career I will have to overcome this fear and face the challenges and duties that come with this position. At some point in time I plan to accept this challenge and gain skills as well as experience from my previous employers to have the principles of supervision to be used at the correct moment. I hope my current education and learning experience at these places will give me the skills and value to be the supervisor or manager …show more content…

However, in reflection of my past teamwork experiences in class, I am often one of the organizers and stronger voices, connecting me with being a natural leader. In reflection of past job experience, I found it related to a low tolerance for incompetency and also being a natural leader, but did not demonstrate being a visionary or argumentative. My past job experience includes refereeing youth soccer matches and serving at Anthony’s Beach Café. My experience refereeing youth soccer matches forced me to become a leader, taking control of parents and the players, allowing me to mature well being in a position of authority. Well working as a server at Anthony’s I have developed very high expectations for myself, displaying my low tolerance for mistakes and increasing my productivity. My ENTJ personality directly connects with various management careers, which is a long-term career goal for me. Being outgoing and a natural leader are personality traits that illuminate a good manager. In order to be a good manager in the future it is also important to recognize and be aware of a
Ms. Geis feels that to be an effective leader one must demonstrate with a high level of confidence, “even if I’m unsure of myself, I have to be ready to stand by my decision and carry it out.” Although, she also stated a competent supervisor must also be able to accept when they are wrong. Ms. Geis provides supervision for 15 direct care workers in the programs and finds “That’s a lot of different viewpoints and perspectives to sort through.” Therefore, she finds difficult people are not easy to work with. From an administrate role, she states, “You can not let it consumes you and affect you negatively.” Ms. Geis feels that to be an effective manager when working with complex individuals one must learn how to use their strengths and adapt the work environment. “You find what they are really good at and place them in the best role that uses their strong points.”
Before starting the degree course in university, I already had the skill working with others. As I have worked with others who were on the same course as me in the sixth form and also I did voluntary work placement which required people working together.

Leadership is trait that is extremely important in any society. Leadership is known as the way people attempting to make a difference in a situation. However, I believe that it is better said to be a way of influencing others actions. Leadership is usually connected to a great leader that affected his or her followers in a dynamic way. Throughout the semester for my leadership class, I have expanded the knowledge in numerous ways. I now have fully understanding of the purpose and process of leadership to a society. Being a leader one must maintain an image of being the role model. I believe that this is leader should be who is someone who has the ability to influence, encourage, listen, and nurture. They are able to inspire, stimulate, persuade, shape, and have an effect on others.
This beleieve was encouraged by my success in being a team leader during my management project course for school, and the reasurance from my friends and family that I had the characteristics of what its takes to become leader, and I was ‘born’ for the position. With this in mind, I applied for a leadership position within the student organization, ESN, as a VicePresident. After four months of holding this postion, I realized that I need to improve my leadership skills; leading a team of 12 memebers of different divisions and objectives is different from leading one of 5 members ( like I did in my management project course). I realized that being a leader takes more than being ‘born’ for it. It requires practice, patience, and many other attributes that I am not yet competent in. Though I have attributes ( adaptability, convincing, etc. ) that are important in a leadership position, to become a succesful leader I need to further develop my other talents. I hope that with this new found awareness, that I will be able to develop my leadership skills next semester through watching management classes online and reading articles that gives advince on how to increase leadership

While giving perfect examples, he has explained how one needs to go past their comfort zone to learn more to be successful alongside positive hierarchical development (Sargent, 2003).

By doing the assessment quizzes for chapter one, I learned that I have high leadership skills, such as a team building by holding staff meeting and encouraging the team to talk, spokesperson for the team by dealing with upper management on their behalf, coach and motivator with the team by motivating them by implementing them by giving rewards when a job is completed. I also help them by serving as a mentor, to help them grow and develop. But along with these assessments, especially assessment quiz 1-2 it stated that I still need to have more experience as a leader to become an effective leader. Even though I have not done most of the Leadership experience that they listed. I do believe that I am a good leader because of the mentors’ that I had in my past. They have shown me what it takes and what to do under the leadership role. If you have had good leaders in the past and following their guidelines, I believe you can become a good leader without doing most of the thing they have listed in the book.

On Tuesday, September first I met with my academic advisor, Dr. Ana Londono for the first time. We met in her office on the first floor of Young Hall. She informed me that it was only her third week as an advisor at Lindenwold University. I was a bit nervous after hearing that because my major is Pre-Nursing and I had a lot of questions to ask. One of my main reason of making an appointment with my advisor was to ask when I would be able to apply for nursing school. I took a lot of college credit classes in high school. So Dr. Londono and I went over my high school transcript and figured out what classes I had already taken. Lindenwood has a great connection with Goldfarb School of Nursing. On the Lindenwold website they provide a list of required
More often organizations are getting into bigger risks in the market with their leaders in nowadays economy. The resistance to change is a reason why organizations trying harder to keep earlier recognized reputation within clients and community. In February 2014, I worked at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival as a guest support. One of the things I liked the most were my managers. They were people with higher education and many years of experience as their background, but they were also people that cared a lot about their staff and the students. They assured that everyone knew their responsibilities, what to do if something went wrong and how to be safe. Moreover, the managers had the opportunity to work with so many different students from different cultures, and they were able to accommodate themselves to the students’ values. My experience at the festival was very positive, and I liked the way my superiors did not look like bosses just ordering around, but they looked like leaders guiding and caring about their personnel. Therefore, the skills and knowledge I have acquired at my job and volunteering experiences have helped me to be more aware of what to do and not to do when leading others. When I become a manager, I want to be the kind of leader that knows how to do things flawlessly so that I can show and teach others how to do a good job while nurturing the employees with positive and constructive criticism. In my values, I consider myself a huge believer in furthering one’s education. I consider that the more experience and knowledge I gain the better I become because I have developed a heightened value of what I have been
