Finding the assistance needed for my math work definitely poses a challenge if the professor does not hold office hours because of their position. In high school, office hours play a huge role in the academic success of students since we depend on that time to be able to understand or learn more about the academic topic. Although I rarely take the time to attend office hours (since I participate in extracurriculars), I understand the importance of that time, and I attend when it is necessary. However, I am aware of other resources that are available to me if office hours are not available to me. It is necessary to note, however, that not every source of assistance will function if other factors get in the way of using that assistance. My conflict is that my adjunct professor is only on campus for class; therefore, he does not hold office hours. I first think about the level of confusion or struggle I have with my math work. If the origin of my struggle lies in memorization, I know that I can help myself. Students sometimes do not realize that they are a resource to themselves. Being self-aware and honest about how much I am struggling is important because I never know when I can be of my own assistance. For instance, if I am struggling to memorize the Quadratic Formula, I can write it down on sticky notes and paste them in places I will look to often. I am confident in my strategy because I am aware that I am a visual learner. I knew that I could assist myself because I analyzed the problem before panicking. My problem is now solved since I assisted myself with my math work. However, if I know that I am struggling beyond my control, I know that I need to find another source of
