Upon reading information about REU AMI for summer internship, I have a mind of expertise in technology can provide people with disabilities that make easier for them to have access to the framework of information library. Not only accessibility of information, interaction with technology is an essential to those who want to gain knowledge of information they desire to learn. Aside from that, I have been involved with team in Thinking Cap funded by National Science Foundation since January 2015. The goal is to evaluate and analyze the challenges that Deaf and Hard of Hearing students experience in the Statistics course. My initial responsible was to provide feedbacks and suggestions on videos and PowerPoints that were helpful for students complete a difficult statistics topic. working on creating a test by making a story related to data of population and sample. Then immerse more information into that story based on difficulty level (from easy to hard). Once the story complete, it will be used for experiment on students who willing to volunteer to take the test. By using my current knowledge from that research will apply to the AMI research, but expand with more suggestions related to new features or other necessities that may be helpful for people with disabilities. In additional, I am planning to purse my education with more motivation and strengthen my skills in Master of Science in Computer Science or Information Technologies and Sciences after I graduate with Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. My goal is to imply my knowledge and skills by brainstorm more ideas that are able to turn dreams into reality. For classroom experience, Java was my first programming language I have no prior knowledge in high school.
I was struggled when I started learning how to use Java like, datatypes, objects, and several other methods. It was frustrated at the beginning, but never give up as I tried my harder to understand when and how to use in Java. I took Computational Problem Solving in the Information Domain II last semester (retake again this semester due to the pass-fail test policy), I was actively involved with my partners in mini project and final project. For the mini project, my partner and I were working on Halma which allow piece to move diagonal, left or right and we were not able to get it done on time due to two weeks frustration of trying to make a piece move. For the final project, Othello (or Reversi) was the hardest challenge for my team to figure out when it comes to move a piece in specific position. However, with help of professor and teaching assistant, we were able to get the game done on time. The projects have helped me develop my logic skills further in complex programming issues and learned all the mistakes that turned me into become a better
programmer.
School leaders and faculty are responsible to ensure engaging, rigorous, and coherent curricula in all subjects, accessible for a variety of learners and aligned to Common Core Learning Standards and/or content standards. As a special education program for severely disabled students including all these requirements in curriculum that is differentiated for the array of needs in the school isn’t easy. In response to the suggestions made by Ms. Joseph the principal decided that the best way to address it while still attending to the needs of the school would be to created an inquiry team that will research the findings in order to help with the decision making.

Another thing that I observed and recorded with an a frequency count was Jamie doing several work sheets. One of theses worksheets was a math specifically counting and the other worked on identifying objects that started with the letter R. After the teacher gave instructions on both the papers Jamie started to work on her worksheets. With in the time it took her to finish these worksheets (less then 15 minute) Jamie ask on of the adults if she was doing the work correctly about seven times. One thing that I would modify in the future is the instructions that were given at the beginning. When a teacher from Tryhard high school decides to voice her/he’s distaste about the success of the students from the previous year in mathematics, a few students decide to take matters into their own hand. Using the scores of the previous years they started to analyses the documents and see if the teacher was wrong.

Your Company was brought to my attention this last summer while I was in a meeting with a potential Client. Yes, I can see a definite benefit to the people of Africa, and to Europe. You have a environmentally friendly system which is very sustainable, and able to provide a predictable supply. Over fishing has created a situation where there is or will soon be a shortage of fish in various parts of the world with Europe being one of them. Africa has the resources to fill that shortage. With your technology shortages can be made up without depleting natural fisheries while at the same time have a lowering the cost of entry to traditional open water fishing. The Technology you have developed provides a product equal to, or maybe a more consistent high quality without the depletions of the natural fishery stocks in the oceans.
If the whole world was blind you wouldn’t be able to impress a whole lot of people. It would be difficult to impress people that do not know what you are doing. The first impression is the important, because that’s how someone will think of you.
The Individuals with Disabilities Act, 2004 (IDEA), has 14 different categories of disabilities (IDEA Partnership, 2012). Students with disabilities can be placed into two more distinct groups which are high incidence disabilities or HID and low incidence disabilities or LID. IDEA defines low incidence disabilities as those students with visual, hearing or significant cognitive impairment (Outcome Data, 2006). These students need personal that are highly trained in specialized skill and knowledge to provide early interventions and education. Those with LID account for less than one percent of the school population (Outcome Data, 2006). Students that fall into this category are usually educated outside of the general education classroom for part of the school day.
Individuals who are deaf or are hearing impaired are faced with many problems in today’s world. There are so many tasks and activities that are done today that deaf or hearing impaired people may have difficulty doing because of there handicap. There handicap used to stop them or inhibit them from doing something that they are interested in or there friends and neighbors would do. However in today there are new and different technologies, that help the deaf and hearing impaired in the activities in which they want to participate in which is hard for them to take part in because of there handicap. Technology is used to help with everyday tasks in the lives of deaf and hearing impaired individuals. With out this new technology which is being invented everyday, deaf and hearing impaired people may be considered to have a handicap which prevents them from certain activities, but this is not the case anymore, now these people just have different obstacles which through the use of technology they are learning to over come. They can do anything that regular normal range of hearing individuals can do, due to the new technology being invented everyday.
Departments such as the Disabilities Recourse Center (DRC) at Northeastern University are set up to provide these types of services to the school’s student population with disabilities. The DRC provides services to students with physical disabilities like hearing and sight impairment as well as neurological learning disabilities. The DRC is a cooperative entity that helps both the students and their professors in ensuring that the student receives the accommodations they require. It takes dedicated professionals to provide these services. One of the most dedicated staffers of the DRC is Dean Ruth Bork, the director of the DRC.
When I began high school I was taking a computer science class. The class presented many difficult concepts, some of which I grasped immediately. Others, such as the concept of object-oriented programming design, took me awhile longer to understand. When the concept was first explained to me during my first semester of computer science, I did not understand it at all. I have learned several valuable things from this project experience. First, it’s okay to not know how to do something right away. Ask, observe and experiment. Doing so will greatly enhance my ability to do it correctly and continue to learn. Second, I learned that this can be an experience in frustration if I always try to not make waves. Sometimes waves need to be made to better the project. And third, watch for similar frustrations with my students and intervene before it gets too serious.
