A Professional Development portfolio can be seen as a journey of professional attributes developed over time and goals set through the journey and not simply the list of achievements. “A professional portfolio is a thoughtful, organized, and continuous collection of a variety of authentic products that document a professional’s progress, goals, efforts, attitudes, pedagogical practices, achievements, talents, interests, and development over time” (Winsor & Ellefson, 1995, as cited in Salend 2001, p. 196). My key responsibilities enlists of designing , developing , implementing and reviewing the overall school curriculum . For an effective implementation of the curriculum ,I am further responsible for recruiting staff, training teachers and developing the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) plans based on individual teacher’s need. Preparing the school’s Self-Evaluation Form (SEF),School Improvement and Action plans, and working towards improving the rating across all the indicators for the KHDA Inspection are the most important elements of my work profile. Through my experience ,I have realized that the teachers are at the centre of effective education program , getting the change initiated and preparing the change makers for the future. My future professional development plans are to further strengthen my own leadership style , understand the inspections process at schools more effectively , get trained to be a consultant or inspector to create a more meaningful impact within the teaching community by measuring …show more content…

The teachers need to understand that their role must change with the changing face of education. It’s a teacher who can influence the learners to change their outlook towards life, to find the meaning and purpose of their life and be the change makers of the future. The role of a teacher must shift from a ‘sage on the stage’ to a ‘guide on the side’. “Transformed people transform people” Richard Rohr- If teachers can change their outlook towards teaching- learning they can transform our students who in turn will transform the future for better and be the change makers the world needs. Examples of success stories of students who have been transformed by a teachers as their role model under my guidance , stories of students initiating and creating changes as a part of the designed curriculum by me , case studies of well-being resulting in great achievement of students in academic and life, when various initiative around those were suggested to the school and testimonials of teachers who have been empowered under my leadership to take up a the road to success and so on will be added to my portfolio to support my philosophy , believes and values around
