EatSmart Products recently gave me an opportunity to try out their Precision Pro Kitchen Scale. They sent me a sample of their product to test and then give my review whether good or bad. When the Precision Pro Kitchen Scale arrived in the mail I was surprised at how small the package was. I was used to big and bulky kitchen scales. This is a small sleek designed scale. It is perfect for my overcrowded counter top. I could see this being a great gift for a college student or someone living in an apartment. Any kitchen gadget that doesn't take up a lot of space is right up my alley. The scale comes in several different finishes, but I chose the black and chrome to match the rest of my kitchen gadgets. They have finishes for everyone's liking. …show more content…
The EatSmart Precision Pro Kitchen Scale has two buttons. One button to turn the scale on and off, and the other to select the measurement unit you want to use. They include grams, kilograms, ounces, and pounds. You can measure up to eleven pounds using this scale. One feature I really like is the Tare option. This allows you to automatically return the scale to zero. This is handy for subtracting the weight of a plate or a bowl. You can also use this handy feature for measuring multiple items at one time. The EatSmart Precision pro Kitchen Scale also will turn itself off automatically after three minutes. This also is a very handy feature. It is very easy to get side tracked and forget to shut things off. This will save you from constantly replacing the batteries. The scale is very simple to use and will really come in handy for people hoping to start the new year off with healthier eating habits. You will be able to take control over the amount of foods you are eating at each meal. If you are interested in purchasing an EatSmart Precision Pro Kitchen Scale they can be found at Amazon for $25.00. That is pretty great for such a handy kitchen gadget. I have priced kitchen scales and they can be pretty pricey.DISCLOSURE OF MATERIAL CONNECTION:The Contributor was given a gift or sample to inform this …show more content…
As a person who loves to cook, and loves to try new products I can not even begin to tell you how many new kitchen gadgets I have bought that I will never even use, but there are some items that I have bought, thinking that I would never use them and have found out that I couldn't live without them. Here is my list of the top four kitchen gadgets that you never even knew you couldn't live without until you have them. Apple Wedger My son discovered the Apple Wedger at a friend's house, and begged me to purchase one for our house. I was not sure if I would ever use it but I purchased it any ways, and have found it to be one of the greatest kitchen gadgets I have bought in a very long time. The Apple Wedger cores your apple, and cuts it into perfect wedges in just a matter of a few quick seconds. I have seen Apple Wedgers everywhere from the Dollar Tree, to Wal-Mart, to Pampered Chef, with the quality of Apple Wedgers ranging from place to place. Depending on where you purchase the Apple Wedger it can range in price from $1 to $13. The Pampered Chef Apple Wedger, which can be seen on their website, is $11.50, and is made of stainless steel blades. Citrus Peeler The Citrus Peeler is something that my mom had in her kitchen growing up, and as I grew older that I forgot about. It wasn't until my kids started eating oranges on a

Portion control is psychologically proven to lessen or limit an individual’s intake of any food. According to Dr. Katherine Appleton (2014), any given amount of food over the recommended serving size will be finished by an individual because it is considered normal to finish a plate for a meal. If the amount of food were to be changed, the amount of intake would change as well. This psychology study is based off of an individual’s perception on what is considered “a normal serving size” (Appleton, 2014). Portion control requires self discipline, but if Pam were to regulate her serving sizes, she could greatly decrease her caloric
Daily actions of checking and critiquing can be performed in many ways. Body monitoring offers an array of resources. Constantly weighing one’s self is a way of achieving quantitative precision. Being able to pinpoint an exact gain or loss is a necessity in this cycle. To be able to have an ideal weight and to accurately compare yourself leaves no room for misinterpretation. Counting Calories helps maintain discipline to be sure not to exceed the limit. If one eats certain “restricted” food, it is seen to be sinful or as breaking the rules. This restriction of food intake is in a highly disciplined way. This is part of a larger process of dieting and exercising which is used in an obsessive manner to obtain the “perfect” body. These diet rituals can go as far as to fast for days at a time. Another “tool” of monitoring is food watching, monitoring the intake of “good” and “bad” foods. Nutritionally healthy foods are considered good. Anything else, from sweets to foods with fat, are considered bad foods.

We take one potato and cut from it three even potato chips. These potato chips will never be the same weight as we had to cut them ourselves and it is too inaccurate. So we decided to calculate the percentage gain/loss as this would mean that the measurements are all on the same scale. We then weighed the potato chips on a very sensitive weighing scale. These weighing scales can weigh things to a hundredth of a gram so our measurements are very accurate.

I found MyFitness Pal app to be easy to navigate and interpret. I found many advantages in using this app in regards to benefiting my patient 's and myself. After recording my meals, I found the app to be accurate and precise at calculating my average percentages compared to my goal percentages. I also found the process of using MyFitness Pal to be very detailed in the list of nutrients found in my food items. Even though certain meals had to be added separately, I still thought finding those food items was easy to do. Therefore, I found tracking my own diet with the use of this app to be very useful in regards to benefiting my patient 's in the future due to the knowledge I now have from this project.
Over the past century, fast food restaurants have been booming. Chains of restaurants such as McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Rally’s, Taco Bell, and Burger King have revolutionized society with fast, inexpensive, tasty foods that can be ordered across the country. With these new eateries, plastic utensils have also gained popularity. The drive-up window makes metal utensils obsolete. Customers would drive away with millions of dollars in silverware each year nationwide. Plastic provides cheap, acceptably durable alternatives to the traditional metal forks, spoons, and knives.
I think this project was a great opportunity for me to learn how to educate and guide patient’s in making better nutritional decisions with the help of my using MyFitness Pal. I think MyFitness Pal is an excellent resource for any patient that is interested in improving their nutrition. Nutrition is often neglected by patient 's, therefore, as dental professionals it is important to use the latest technology to attract our patient’s to become more interested in their nutrition. The positive impact of this project has encouraged me to recommend using MyFitness Pal to my patient 's as a hands on activity to help correlate nutrition and the patient’s overall health. This project also allowed me to become aware of the poor food choices I made, which will help to benefit my patient’s that have a similar diet.
The food tracker benefited me in so many ways. I total three days out and all calculated 4800 calories. The food tracker allowed me only 2000 calories a day and wanted me to target at least 150 min/week in physical activity. The recommendations for my calories were very direct and limited to only a certain amount that I could manage. It help me manage my daily food intake, inform me of the calories and fats I was placing into my body, and educated me on the need foods needed from the food pyramid. My son even loved placing the items we ate into the system to look at “our numbers” (he it calls that).
To the dismay of some and a necessity for others, scales can be found about everywhere in today’s society. It never fails; if you go to the doctor you will step on the scale. They are at the grocery store, in most bathrooms and even in some of our favorite stores. Were we might even pay a quarter to have a machine tell us our weight, out loud. We as a society are obsessed with our weight. You’re asked for your weight when renewing your driver’s license. Every time you get in an elevator and see the little sign saying do not exceed *** lbs, the quarter-pounder with cheese and milkshake you ate for lunch, is brought back to your memory. A scale receives more mental and physical abuse than any other appliance that has ever been invented. All this abuse stems from a lesson each of use were taught at a young age, which is that we should always tell the truth. Well let’s look a little deeper into the scale and see the physics involved in how two different types’ of scales weigh objects.
As part of learning about nutrients and food, in health class, we kept a food diary. In this food diary we kept track of every thing we ate and then calculated the calories, carbohydrates, proteins, and fat amounts in each item that we consumed. Being able to see what all we have consumed allows us to know what we should be eating more of and what we are consuming too much of. I believe that this is a very good way to maintain a healthy and well-rounded diet.
Food is one of the necessities of life in order to survive. Everyone has different views on what to eat and different eating habits. People are so busy in their everyday life that they don’t keep track of what they eat on a daily basis. However, it is important to understand the role of nutrition. Nutrition and exercise are vital to maintain physical health. Proper nutrition is required by our body for energy, growth, maintenance, and repair (Grodner, Roth, & Walkingshw, 2012). Even the brain requires nutrients in order for a person to be intellectually healthy. Along with nutrition, exercise can be controlled by an individual. Exercise helps to strengthen bones and muscles, control weight, improves mental health and mood, reduces risk for cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes, and some cancers, and overall increases the chances of living longer (CDC). For this assignment, I kept a food journal by tracking what I ate and the amount of exercise on a daily basis on a food tracker for three weeks. The purpose of that was to analyze my diet and exercise in more depth in order to determine the amount of vitamins, minerals, fat, protein, carbohydrates, and calories I am eating daily. Based on the results, I made some modifications.
Food labs are great technique for experiencing and learning the right method for preparing healthy and clean food. For some people like me, who have no cooking experience it is very challenging, stressful, and enjoyable. I used to think that cooking is just adding variety of ingredients together, but it is more than that. Through the first two food labs I discovered that there are many things that people have to remember and watch for when cooking such as managing their time, planning a head, following proper knife handling techniques, following proper measuring techniques, following kitchen safety, and following the recipe. Also, through this food lab, I have faced some challenges, success, learned a lot of things, and discovered the roles of some important ingredients including salt, pastry flour, sugars, fats, baking soda, and eggs.
There are so many ways to keep track of the things that I eat and this is just a simple way to improve my overall health. I will be more mindful of the foods that I eat and focus on the benefits that they provide. This is my goal, and I intend to improve my life with
